So I had a uterine ablation March of 2014 and after that my periods were regular and only lasted 2 or 3 days and were very light I did this till January of 2015 and I haven't had a period since January of this year but I'll get real bad uterine cramps that go down into my legs and my lower back with no bleeding is this normal or could I be going through menopause I'm going to be 47 this year I do have severe hot flashes and severe night sweats
have your gyno or primary do a full blood work. the #'s for the FSH will tell your gyno or primary if you are in menopause. that's how i found out.
I think I'm about 5 years past my ablation. Two years in I asked my Dr how I would know when I entered menopause. Her reply was that I may or may not notice it, just as some women have lots of symptoms and some don't. However, she suggested it was likely I had or would enter early because the menstrural cycle had a feed back loop between the various organs ands glands involved. Without the lining building, breaking down and shedding a component of that feedback loop is missing. I asked because at the time I was noticing that I waking from fairly mild (big enough to to wake me) night sweats and weight gain. Three years later I think I'm starting to experience hot flashes during the day. Still don't miss the bleeding and anemia. :)
It is a sign, make your dr. Do the hormone test, I did it's been 8 years, I'm 43 a menopausal....
I have to say this procedure is to help stop excessive bleeding. It does not stop you from having peri menopause. Night sweats, mood swing etc...Many posts I am ready seem to be blaming the procedure instead of understanding it is your hormone imbalance....
I had an ablation over 15 years ago. My periods stopped which was a blessing because of the heavy bleeding and periods that would last for months. Also passing what I call aliens.
In July 2013 I had a period that lasted 34 days. My OB/GYN said that due to the ablation I was in uncharted waters because of the lack of studies done to show how ablations affect menopause. I had a biopsy and sonogram done and everything looked good. We decided to monitor my symptoms. Well here we are almost 2 1/2 years later and I have started my period again. I am soon to be 55 and thought I was done with all of this but just when you least expect it..UGH. I am still waiting to hear from my OB/GYN to see if she wants to see me. I am concerned because my best friend (same age) was told by her OB/GYN that if she started her period that it meant something was wrong and to get in to see him immediately. Any thoughts or experiences that may help?

I had an ablation in February 2011 at age of 33 because of non stop bleeding from endometrosis (spelling). I have family history of stroke on birth control so I was not entertaining that notion. I also have a genetic disorder called Alpha 1 Antitrypsin Protein Deficiency, so even though I was childless I knew I didn't want any biologically to pass this beast of disease on, so preserving that ability was not a thought. In July 2011 I narrowly survived septic shock from an infected medication port. but 5 years later I am moody, and having hot flashes like crazy. Will be 39, my mom was in her early 40's when she started. Wondering if in fact that's what's going on with me. I have vaginal dryness but my low sex drive is more that my boyfriend lives in CHicago and I live in MIchigan we use lube to combat the dryness, and I enjoy sex with him otherwise.... just wondering if the moodiness and hot flashes are the change or signs of it coming.
I had a uterine ablation when I turned 40, and I wish I would've done it sooner. It changed my life. I had heavy periods and clots the size of golf balls dropping out of me. I had to take spare clothing from bleeding through everything. I haven't experienced any bleeding or spotting since the procedure. I'm 48 now, and I started having hot flashes last year along with vaginal dryness. I put on 8 pounds which was unnerving and stressful. I took Duavee last year and it immediately alleviated the menopausal symptoms, but I wasn't sure about the weight gain. What came first, the chicken or the egg? In my early 40's, I had friends putting on 10-20 lbs. around this age. How come nobody talks about this? My doctor thinks the weight gain is from getting older, metabolism slowing, etc. Some women lose weight with HRT, some women gain weight, so I'm confused. When I stopped taking Duavee, I didn't lose the gained weight and I couldn't get my weight to budge. I went to a diet doctor last month and have dropped the lbs. I feel great at 48 again, but I worry about bone loss and skin changes without taking estrogen. The hot flashes haven't come back. Dose anyone know or has anyone tried taking low doses of estrogen after an ablation with using a progesterone? My mom and grandma still take Premarin and they look and feel amazing.
i am 33 and a mother of 3. i had the ablation over a month ago and now the night sweats have began, hot flashes during the day.... same things i experienced when i was given Lupron. i am a personal trainer and powerlifter and my nutrition is exactly on point.. i was never warned about this and im just really taken back. i thought this would help
I had an ablation in 2014, and like you I am 47 years old. Since then I've gained weight around the middle and oh wow do my breast seem like they are always hurting. Since I don't bleed, I'm also wondering when I will start the menopause process. I have occasional hot flashes but nothing like I used to get only 6 months ago. I suffer from ovarian cysts and have always known I was ovulating by the pain the cysts caused. I'm more concerned about the outside chance of pregnancy since there is always the possibility that the whole uterine wall did not get burned. I wish I had answers for you but I wanted to share that you are not alone.

I haven't had a period in at least 7 years after having ablation, but now at 50 I find myself having fits of rage in a monthly fashion. I mean I completely lose it. These time it lasted for 2 days. Haven't had blood work done yet, this is very alarming to me and my fiancée of 11 years. He sees it and I've scared him. Tell me why is this happening?
I have had the same procedure with NovaSure, it has worked very well as I have not had a cycle for over a year, thankfully, because the next step was a hysto based upon my family history. I have seen that I have lost all pre-menstrualy symptoms, back ache and severe cramps are gone, but I have noticed weight gain and facial hair...eek!
Hi I have had the same and have been told that I have to keep a diary. But I've found that maca root has helped me a lot. I'm only 34 and this started last year and have been told it's a possibility that I'm going through menopause blood tests can be done but not always shows a dip in hormones.
Hi! Definitely talk to your doctor about it. It could be worsening PMS symptoms as we age those can get worse as we enter perimenopause.
In your 40's weight gain can happen. As women enter perimenopause and menopause the decreasing estrogen causes one to store fat. The older you are the easier it is to gain weight and harder to lose. It's not from having the endometrial ablation.
