Les, from what you say, it sounds like you have a lot of estrogen and not enough progesterone to balance it out. Stress can affect this from happening because stress steals progesterone production in the body. Do you have a good digestion and you open your bowels every day? There are estrogens in the environment, food, house products that can mimic it in the body and take over so its important to get them out asap. Sugar and gluten can cause lots of problems with hormone imbalance too, if you can reduce those. I swear by fish oil supplement and black currant seed oil supplement which are omega 3 and omega 6/GLA essential fats. You need healthy fats to make healthy hormones. Hope that helps you.

Does an endometrial ablation causes early menopause?

I had a endometrial ablation for heavy bleeding and had never missed a period. Within 3 months, I began having signs of early menopause. My doctor said that the procedure didn't cause early menopause. However, I found women at at church that told me the truth. They said that in the medical community... doctors are all aware that the procedure causes early menopause. The younger you are, the longer it takes to notice symptoms but your reproductive system knows you have been damaged and begins to shut down early.

So here is your answer: Yes, an endometrial ablation causes early menopause.

My opinion: Do not have this procedure done unless you want to go into menopause early. Do not let the doctors take your womanhood early and then put you on hormones that can give you cancer to stop the hot flashes, mood swings, lack of sleep, vaginal dryness, and other negative changes to your skin and bones. Early menopause can end your marriage or your relationship. The word needs to get out that this procedure causes early menopause. You wanted to know the truth from another women and now you know that an endometrial ablation causes early menopause. Beware that the medical information online leave out this detail...

Hi. I had the nova sure 8 months ago and haven't had a single period since. However each month I do get tender breasts and slight abdominal pain, but no bleeding ... Feels a little like a phantom period. Compared to the nightmare periods I used to have this is bliss. I am 46 and am now just wondering about menopause. My mother had an early hysterectomy so I have n reference

I had a uterus ablation at age 46 for heavy painful periods. I’ll be 51 Dec 2017. I e had a couple of blood tests in the past two years to see if I’m in menapause. Both tests said I wasn’t. I’ve had night sweats and hot flashes for the past two years. It’s frustrating .

I had an ablation three yrs ago and have not felt normal hormonal yet for about two yrs now. I have felt like I have had no sex drive whatsoever and recently felt a couple of hot flashes. I always run hot and keeps my house a freezer at night but had weight loss surgery 5 yrs ago and don’t know if I have gained weight from menopause symptoms or simple regain. I fluctuate 15 or so lbs every so often. I haven’t slept well since the wls. So my question is how do I know if or when I’m in peri menopause? This is so frustrating. I don’t know what to think.

I also am 48 - nearly 49 now and had an ablation done about 4 years ago. I also have not experienced menses since the procedure. It might be that your doctor is referring to menopause meaning when you have already gone all the way through the process. During peri-menopause is really when all these other symptoms can occur for many women. You may want to check out Metabolic Renewal which is a diet and exercise program to balance hormones. Actually I wish I had known about it before, I wonder if it would have helped balance the hormones so I didn't have to go through the heavy menses in the first place- it is difficult to know where I'm at as well since I don't have any symptoms most months. I have noticed when I drink any alcohol is when I suffer from hot flashes, but really don't have them if I don't partake.

I just found your comment today, Jan 10 2018.
I had a thermal ablation in Feb 2014, & within a few months, I started with heat. I'm now in the full throws of the menopause, so I'm guessing the ablation kick-started everything...
It's pretty tough going at the moment, I'm not on any drugs or herbs, but my most hated symptom is the midriff weight gain. My mood is low, so enthusiasm to shift it is non existant.
I truly believe, the ablation started my menopause...

I had a Thermal Ablation on 9th Jan 2018. Exactly one month from the operation my mood dropped, I feel as if my boobs are no longer part of my body, I have vaginal dryness, swimming head, night sweats, no sexual desire. The doctor said it was nothing to do with the procedure as she was not near my ovaries, but my GP said you body talks to itself and the uterus sends signals to the brain. That the ablation could have triggered the menopause. A blood test revealed my estrogen levels have plummeted. All I can say is before the procedure I had none of these symptoms.

I am 48 and had the procedure done 9 years ago, I too am experiencing those same symptoms. The weight gain started about two years ago, 20 pounds and counting. I work out and eat pretty well it’s very frustrating. I am also having night sweats and sleep very poorly. I was speaking to a women this past weekend with a very similar experience. Makes me think it’s something to do with the ablation. None of my other friends are having these symptoms

I had the same issue. The ablation stopped my bleeding but my body started early menopause. I put on weight rapidly and finally had my hormones tested. I had almost no progesterone or testosterone left in my body. The mood swings weight gain anxiety and all that came with the peri menopause was not worth it to me.

I was told by my dr. it only lasts 10 years so this makes sense.
