My sister was molested when she was 11 years old by my uncle and I found out two years ago that the very uncle who did that to her was also molesting his biological daughter since she was 8 (atleast that's when my cousin thinks it started). This is a very serious issue and you are a great mother for being so worried and conscious of this extremely serious issue that many people try to ignore or switch the subject about to avoid discomfort! You should investigate this fully and do not let this slide!!!!!! You need to know what the heck is going on...I called ACS on my uncle twice and I am in the middle of a divorce and my daughter sleeps over at her father's house (he lives with both of his parents). I don't trust any of them because I just feel they are all shady. If I EVER witnessed what you witnessed I would be pointing fingers all around until I got to the bottom of it. Go to a good pediatrician and get to the bottom of this ASAP..get your child tested and have her talk to a psychologist, I would not let this rest at all!!!!!!!!!!!!! ***this post is edited by moderator *** ***

are you a doctor? You will find that this is a common occurrence and parents of children experiencing it are frUStrated because urine samples and scans often show nothing. I am in the process of trying to find out why my 4 year old daughter is being woken up by stabbing / burning and itching pains in her vagina at around 2am every night, why it lasts for half an hour or so - during which time she is screaming and writhing in agony - why it is unaffected and seemingly unrealted to passing urine and why half an hour or so after it starts - it eases completely and she settles back down to sleep. urine tests showed nothing, she has no redness, no discharge and no problems during the day. The doctor didnt have a clue what it was when i took her and gave her cream for thrush just in case. message boards such as this serve to help people like me who have been to the doctor and got nothing from them. I am taking my daughter back to the doctor this week and will ask for a referral to a urologist. I have however found great comfort in the fact that my daughter is not alone in this and hope this will help us find a solution soon. Your post really offended me - You obviously know nothing about this problem we are all experiencing.
This post is 5 years old, but in case omeone lose happens upon it and s looking or answers, I would consider hand, foot, mouth disease as a possibility in situations like this. Bin can affect the genitals and be very uncomfortable. UTIs are always a suspicion, and should be checked s well.
Hey I dont know if you got it figuredout or notbut to me it sounds like genital herpes.it is very painful and when you get the first outbreak it is how you described the bumps on her. It night reappear or lay dormant meaning it stays in her nerves the first outbreak takes like 2 weeks to go away. It is a life long disease and she is being molested if she has this and it kills me to say that. Please get her tested if you havent already. Good luck god bless your family. Please write me and let me know I just want to know shes fine. I know this post is old.

My daughter started having pain in her vagina area when she was 5 years old, she is now 10. Please, please read this.
My daughter had severe vaginal pain episodes at night ranging from nightly to once a month from age of 5 to 9. It was horrible, she would wake crying and screaming clutching at her privates literally writhing in pain. It seemed to come in waves, almost like period cramps. Her stomach muscles would clench, her back would arch, she would scream and clutch at her privates. A few times she even started saying she didn't want to live anymore because of the pain. It would last anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours. By the time it subsided, she would be drenched in sweat. Her vagina area was very red and irritated and therefore would sometimes also hurt when she went pee. We went to the pediatrician many times, we even worried that someone may be violating her at daycare but the pediatrician said she did not have any signs of that and the daycare was very reputable and she was never alone with anyone. She had UTI test after UTI test, all negative. Getting a urine sample when they are young is a nightmare, they even catheterized her once to get a sample which was horribly traumatic and took 3 nurses to hold her down. They did an awful test under mild anesthesia called VCUG (Voiding Cysto-Urethrogram) which was negative. They put her on Nystatin cream--external (like Monistat). I applied it nightly but it did not help which was a nightmare to apply. They said give her warm baths with baking soda--didn't work, they said epsom salts in her bath--didn't work, they said vinegar--didn't work. They said stop using soap on privates, we stopped soaps, it didn't help. Dye free laundry detergent they said, I have never used anything but dye and fragrance free for more than 20 years or whenever it first came out. They said she wasn't wiping properly, so we worked and worked to make sure she wiped properly. They said she needed more probiotics from so many antibiotics from repeat ear infections, she was already eating lots of yogurt and kefir, but I added a probiotic supplement. It didn't help. We went to a pediatric urology specialist. He said it could be a yeast infection and we needed to put her on Nystatin cream externally, I told him I tried that several times for 7-10 days he said I needed to do it for a whole month because it takes that long for all the skin cells to slough off and new ones grow. So with my daughter screaming her head off--they don't want their privates touched, I applied it every night for a month, it didn't help. He said the pain was in her perineum--the area between anus and vagina and caused by the strain of constipation. She did have a history of constipation and had already been on Mirilax but I made sure she had Mirilax daily. It took a long time but we got the constipation under control but she continued to have the vaginal pain episodes. We got into a routine of when the pain started, I gave her a warm bath, and urged her to try to pee. We still thought there was a urniary connection because the red irritation was causing her to not want to go pee. I often gave her Tylenol or Motrin and Benedryl--Tylenol/Motrin for the pain, Benedryl to help her get back to sleep. I wasn't sure if it helped, or it just needed time to go away on its own.
Then, when doing research on the web, I came across another similar thread on this forum and saw my post from more than 2 years ago. I also saw some more recent posts from mom's who had found their child with similar symptoms to have pinworms. I looked up pinworms but there is nothing about the type of pain my daughter was experiencing and my daughter never complained of itching and the pain was always in her vagina area, never her anus. The only thing she had in common with pinworms was that the pain always (all but once, out of hundreds of episodes) came about 1-2 hours after falling asleep. Usually between 10pm-1am which is when pinworms come out of the anus to expel their eggs. It didn't seem to fit her symptoms but in desperation, the next time she had a pain episode, I had her lay on her floor, kept the lights off and looked at her vagina with a flashlight and my high-powered reading glasses. I had a roll of tape ready just in case. AND THERE IT WAS! This disgusting worm, about quarter inch long and thin as thread (I think they call them thread worms in England and some other type of worm is called a pinworm over there). It was wriggling around and literally looked like it was stabbing at my daughter's vagina with its pointy end. The worm was bloody and there was blood on my daughter where it was stabbing at her vagina. And there were a couple more worms deeper in the opening. I was able to snatch a couple using the tape and I put them under my son's electronic microscope and even took pictures of them. I made an appointment the next day and brought the evidence which my doctor did not want to see. My wonderful pediatrician who we adored and trusted acted like he was disgusted with me and that I was crazy. He totally dismissed that pinworms could cause her the type of pain she was having. I told him about this forum and the other mothers and he dismissed it. He couldn't deny she had pinworms, since I had actually seen them (and caught them), but he would not even ponder that they could cause the intense vaginal pain my daughter was having. He said buy some over the counter pinworm medicine. It was called Reese's Pinworm Medication and we bought it at Walgreen's. I put the whole family on the pinworm medicine. I washed all the linens, towels, PJs, underwear...in very hot water. I gave my kids newly washed PJs every night and for a week I gave them morning showers to clean their bottoms. We repeated the medicine in 2 weeks as recommended on the directions. My daughter's nightly pain episodes COMPLETELY cleared up within a week of starting the medicine and she has NEVER EVER HAD THE PAIN AGAIN!!! My daughter was 9. She had suffered this horrible pain for more than 4 years. She is now 10. What a miracle. Shame on pediatricians for not acknowledging this, and letting all these mothers worry themselves crazy and especially our daughters going through this horrible, traumatic pain. The medical world is still male dominated--I bet if pinworms caused boy's/men's balls to feel like they had been slammed in a door repeatedly every night for an hour, we would all know about pinworms and the medicine to get rid of them. They would probably have pinworm medication added to everyone's drinking water. I did NOT tell my daughter she had worms in her vagina, because I thought it might be traumatizing and I was afraid it might mentally affect her sexual well-being some day, heck, it traumatized me seeing what I saw. I just told her she had some germs and the medicine fixed it. But I did tell her, to keep from getting the "germs", she had to be very diligent with wiping habits and washing hands after going potty and before eating--both my kids rush and could do a better job. It is so nice for my daughter to not suffer anymore. I got pretty lucky that I happened to see the pinworm. I don't think I would have believed it was pinworms if I hadn't actually seen them in her vagina, and it is hard for doctor's to test for pinworms since they only come out at night and not every night--I think they spend most of their time in our intestines and only come out to expel their eggs and then die.
I know it is disgusting, and I didn't believe it, but I sure wish I had known this years earlier. My advise would be, if your daughter has these symptoms, even if you don't see any pinworms, try the pinworm medicine anyway. Maybe check with your doctor, but I think the medicine is fairly safe, it is OTC after all.
I have two daughters. My eldest never had a problem - my youngest woke screaming in agony every night saing her weewee hurt. I used to put her in the tub after a while she would stop crying. Next night, same thing. After weeks of this and several trips to the doctor one night while i was putting zink cream on her after a warm bath at 1am.... I saw she had worms in her vagina. I took her to the chemist the next day and told them - they said it was common for the worms to hatch and not know which way to go. This was the cause of her screaming. Only she had reoccoring worms - to the point where every 6 weeks i wormed her - and if i forgot - my por baby would be in screaming agony again. I hit every forum i could for months to figure out what was wrong with my baby.....If your child has night terrors, bed wetting issues or screaming pain in the middle of the night.. Worm the whole family NOW and again in 6 weeks!
