I second what FoxyDigitalis said.
Lyme disease is called the 'great imitator'.
My sister had/has the same symptoms many of you describe here--off and on over the years--and not all at together at-once and
was finally correctly diagnosed after being tested for everything under the sun and MIS-diagnosed as solely having fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, you name it. Over 10 years of symptoms.
Seek out a "lyme-literate" doctor for inclusion or exclusion. The average or even seemingly sometimes above-average doctor doesn't know about it. It doesn't matter if you live in an endemic area or not.

I've just got worried - I typed in tingly tongue as I've had this for a few days, and wandered what it could be! - but what worried me is the 1st reply was about MS - My mother has MS and though scienctists/doctors can not agree if it hereditary, its a bit worrying! - I also itch my legs sometimes until I bleed (this happened more when I was younger), often have dull back pain and numb upper legs! think I'd better get an MRI scan! :O
Those silver fillings are actually 50% mercury, a neuro toxin. We should all have them safely removed by a knowledgeable dentist. Heavy metals are purported to cause autism, PDD, ADD ADHD, MS, Parkinson, alzheimer's, fibromyalgia, thyroid diseases, lupus, and the list goes on and on. (See; Any Cutler "Amalgam Illness" on the www)
There are also heavy metals in fish, canned food, cookware, and toxins in mattresses, carpets, chickens (arsenic!)
Study up on it and then you may learn how to get thru this toxic world feeling well!

I used to have this very badly, tongue, arm into fingers (extremities).
Finally, I ran my clinic at a chiropractor's and he gave me a fix and quite quickly the symptoms stopped.
I am fine most of the time now but if my back goes out of alignment, if my tongue and/or fingers tingles, it means I have not listened to earlier signs. All I need to do then is go for an adjustment and it returns to normal. This may be the answer for some of you while others may have other diagnosis.
If this tingling sensations are ignored, I found that mine would occasionally develop into dizziness or blurred vision. All of which disappears with an adjustment. Osteopathy helps too.
All the best to you all.

Pinched nerve?
I also have been experiencing a tingling tongue and lips for the last several days. My tongue feels like I drank a bunch of burning hot coffee, which I didn't, and my lips feel tingly and swollen. When I drink anything, even water, my lips start having a prickly sensation. I go to the doctor tonight for it. I'm sure I'll be told there's nothing wrong with me...Does anyone have any ideas?
I had a tingling tongue, arm, leg, face and I thought I was having a stroke. I went to a neurology ED nearby and spend 90 minutes in MRI having films done of my brain, cervical spine and arterial pathways with and without contrast (dye). The results were all negative. The diagnosis: Complex Migraines! I never had bad headaches although I did have them from time to time. I thought all migraines were cahracterized by severe headache but that is not the case. I was prescribed 80 mg. propranolol and my symptoms cleared. This was two weeks ago. Side effects of Propranolol are tough though. First line drug is Topomax but I tend to form kidney stones so Topomax is not a good drug for me.
I came searching for an answer and I think someone hit it!!
I noticed this yesterday and it happened again this morning. I am wearing a new make-up and wondered if some had gotten on my lips and I touched it with the tip of my tongue. After I ate lunch it disappeared. Now tonight it was back and had me searching the internet.
I ran out of my Crest toothpaste and have been using a small tub of Colgate that was in the cabinet. I have just brushed my teeth and it is doing it again.
The tip of my tongue and my bottom lip are numb and tingling.
I went back after reading about the toothpaste... dug out the last of the Crest and re-brushed my teeth. While spitting in the sink I noticed, the toothpaste hit right in the middle of my bottom lip where in was tingling. The sensations are GONE!!!! :-)
Thank You for pointing me to the toothpaste... I would never have made the connection.

also had numb tingling tougue, very annoying and could not figure out what was going on. Noticed that in the mornings Id wake up with my tougue on the roof of my mouth, either with a lot a pressure or sucked up tight . This was apparently causing nerve compression. I had never had this problem and didn't understand why it was suddenly accuring. Then it hit me. I.m a snorer. Always breath through my mouth at night. Then I started using the nose strips which stoped my snoring and let me breath through my nose while sleeping. The side affect was that now with my mouth close at night I apparently would suck my tougue. Now am happy again but my wife isn t.
? can my underactive thyroid pldroblem being untreated caused my tongue to be numb?swallowing is not easy sometimes. food particles lodge in throat and food dont digest well. what supplements or natura herb or food can i eat to get my thyroid glands function normal.
I have just a tingling tongue tip. I am very confused as to what causes this. I was thinking allergies, I do smoke on occasion but its weekends and never during the week. I have had this before and it tends to go away after a while but it does come back. This is about the 4th time I have had it. Usually lasts 1 week or more.
First time posting here, I thought my post was going to be added to this thread. But somehow it posted a new thread and I don't know how to delete it. So I posted it here also, because here is where I meant it to post.

My numbness comes and goes but its always on the left side. Like right now, We got done eating about a 1/2 hr ago and now my left pinky finger and the next finger feel numb and the closer to the tip of my finger the more numb feeling. Also the left side of my tongue, left side of my lip and left check area feel like they do when the dentist numbs the left side. When I say left side of tongue and lip, it starts exactly in the front middle of my tongue/lip and goes back. And on the fingers its only those 2 fingers, never any of the other three.
Like I said it comes and goes, sometimes its just the 2 fingers, other times its fingers, tongue, and lips. Just today the numb/tingly feeling went up around my left eyelid. Normally it was just my tongue/lips and lower cheek. To match the feeling in face, its exactly like when the Novocain starts to wear off at the dentist.
I am 56 male, 163lbs, 5'8". But not in great shape, I smoke approx 8 cig/day, cholesterol my be around 250 + or -, I am not diabetic or allergic to anything I know off.
This has been going on for about 2 weeks now.

I've suffered the same for many years and I wasn't diagnosed MS, but Burning Mouth Syndrome (BMS). This modern world we are being bombarded by radio frequency radiation (RFR) and electro magnetic radiation (EMR) from every conceivable type of electronic communications and equipment.
If you have amalgam fillings in your mouth then these fillings which are metal and contain mercury causes a form of electrosis in your mouth by the saliva of your mouth coming in contact with the amalgam filling and due to the airways being swamped with every form of RFR and EMR is causes electricity within the mouth that is referred to as galvanic affect. Also, dental caps and root canals also can cause this affect. If you have any of these then go to a holistic dentist and have them removed and replaced with safe fillings.

Do you have any form of cordless communications equipment in your room, such cordless computer, modems, mouse, router and DECT phones?
The tingling tongue is usually the first symptoms of burning mouth syndrome. If you have any amalgam fillings, dental caps or root canals then these are usually the causation factor.
