hi my name is wilma. i had my type b dissection April 22 2013 it was sudden , very painful, my lower back felt as though it was in a vice. I have an anyurism around 4.5 cm. I have no feeling of any improving. almost everyday i feel week and drag myself around, especially if it is warm outside and i have to walk up stairs or hills.. i just wonder when i will feel normal again
Well.. That sucks.. I've had Hypertension for over 35 years.. Car accident damaged the aorta.. But it went unnoticed.. Meds never worked.. Doctors couldn't figure it out.... Now diagnosed with type B... Cardiologist says.I've had it for sometime now..probably years!. They usually don't want to operate, because of the complications involved, could end up a paraplegic if something goes wrong!... Guess I'll stick with the AD... And make funeral arrangements.... Oh well.. I can use a long nap!
I had same about 16 years ago and had a dacron graft at Edinburgh Royal 5 years this Christmas. The operation was carried out by Mr R A Chalmers.
I have also had a type b dissection. Top to bottom, turned into a tube so no false section. I was told i will live to a ripe old age. Never told i had a time limit. It has been 7 months ago.
Hi
I had a b aorta dissection in London Ontario while on holidays in 2006. Mine is not repaired due to because of blood pressure always being so high and they cannot operate. I have a CT Scan every 6 months and it has spread again another couple of centimetres. To start with I died 3 times they brought me back and induced me into a coma for 2 months. All my organs shut done and I was on life support as well as kidney failure and was on dyalistis. For reasons unbeknownst to me being prayers I recovered and do not have dyalistis since back then. So for me it's being 10 yrs going on 11 on April 4th. 2017. I just have no energy or get up and go either. 2 yrs ago I was on home oxygen which I'm now off of... but you know I think I should be still on it. I felt a whole lot better but it was very awkward when I had to take the portables with me when I went out. But by the grace of god and my my mom and my dear sister Bonnie and my Husband Darrell that I've made it this far and because it isn't repairable that's in my thoughts day after day. My vascular surgeon says that's probably how I'll die, from having another episode like when it happened in 2006. All I did was bend over in the fridge and bang it went thru me and my god did that hurt. But who knows when your time is up. Only god knows ❤️ Well I said my bit on what happened to me. Thanks for listening. All the Best...

I have a type 1 aortic dissection from top to bottom that was discovered when I collapsed from a stroke. I was rushed to the hospital and after an 8 hour surgery I awoke from what I thought was a really bad dream. I remained in the hospital for nearly 2 months, including in house physical therapy . Luckily I was able to recover a lot of mobility lost as a result of the stroke. One year later, I had my aortic arch repaired with an investigational implant called a thoraflex hydrid. I'm currently 45. I had the stroke a year and a half ago. The last surgery was 5 months ago. My last ct scan was in January and my surgeon told me that my aneurysm has actually shrunk almost a centimeter. They believe that I should have a lenghtly life span ahead of me because of my age and my ability to read very from all the surgeries these past two years. There is definitely hope out there for us. I wish us all a long and healthy life. Never give up the fight...
My mother was diagnosed with a complicated type b aortic dissection and AAA she was 87 . This was April 2016 she was given 2 weeks to live . She is still with us which is great !!!! I just want to know if dissections can heal themselves ?
In February of 2018, I was rushed to the emergency room at the first hopsital, where they diagnosed an aortic aneurysm at the heart valve, with ascending aortic AND thoracic dissection - from my heart valve (replaced as part of the metallic device grafted in place of the aneurysm) beyond the iliac and into my right femoral artery. I was released 6 nights later, spent one night at home and developed atrial fibrillation, then went back for three more nights to address the a-fib. I learned about 18 months later that I had a 1% or 2% chance of surviving that initial procedure; if I had known that right away, I think I might have been scared and depressed, but now I am wary of having a shorter life expectancy due to an untreated dissection. The doctors said that working on both problems would have meant the death of me, so they "removed" the pressure of the aneurysm on the dissection; they still say that any operation on my extensive dissection could result in paraplegia because of so many blood vessel branches to reroute/reattach. As it was, I was in surgery for more than eight hours and needed 20 units of blood.) I am going on just three years, but the various expectancy ranges scare me because the numbers are so unclear and inconsistent. I feel pretty good most of the time but admittedly have less stamina and sustained energy... not to mention the possible depression from the uncertainty.
P.S. I was just over 57-and-a-1/2 years old when this big event occurred.
