I get this sensation as well and am still alive! Have had it for 20 years or so. Physicians apparently don't seem to know a lot about it. Thought it was peripheral artery disease but have now decided it is not and is just a thinning of the vein wall...which consequently leaks out a little blood. Veins seem to reroute themselves so hopefully nothing too drastic. Maybe this is under th heading of weakening connective tissues!

Same here!
I'm 38 and female, and this has been happening to me for a few years at least. Most often my fingers (thumb mostly) and a few times on my toes.
Here's a question for you: do any of you ever have ruptured blood vessels in your eyes?
A couple or three times a year I wake up and find a bright red bloody patch on my eyeball. It's a ruptured blood vessel, like my hand and feet, but the difference is that it doesn't hurt at all. Its a total surprise when it happens - i never feel any pain or trauma - I just wake up with a scary moster-looking eye. Occasionally after the broken bv appears, that area of my eye feels a little dry and scratchy. I don't rub it, as I've learned that this makes it so much worse. The eye usually takes weeks to heal.
Anybody else?

Doctors have no idea what is happening with me the pain is immense, my joints will turn blue and be so tender tears stream down my face. My elbow is so swollen I cannot straighten it and I have bruises on the bottoms of my feet with no trauma. They gave me anti-inflammatory medication and it helps if I double up on the dosage but it also make me swell and I can not get my feet in my shoes or rings on my fingers I wish there was a solution!

I am only 33 and am experiencing this, completely random. Burning, then tingling sensation in one of my finger knuckles, after a few minutes it subsides leaving sometimes quite large bruises and sometimes just little bruises. I consider myself quite healthy, exercise regularly, perfect weight and very good diet. My doctor has brought up rheumatoid and gaut

I have had this spontaneous bursting of ?capillaries in my fingers and toes since I was a teenager and I am now 66, healthy, low bp, cholesterol, etc.. Any Dr. I have asked about it is clueless. They have never offered any explanation or recommendation. My only worry is whether larger blood vessels could experience the same bursts. My mother had a hemorrhagic stroke in her 40's (she was, however, a smoker?). I wish there was a website where we could all report our experiences.

I have just had this happen to me this evening. I was cooking and I felt a sharpness, then it swelled and now it's black. I have had this in the past a few times. I work with my hands so thought maybe they are getting strained. But this site makes me see it's much more common!

Hi! This has been happening to me for years. I first noticed it in my feet/toes immediately after rhuematoid arthritis symptoms began at age 33. I am now 43. Since medicating for RA, it only happens on my fingers, but all the descriptions above sound just like it! I really want to find out if it is indicative of something else or an RA symptom so I am going to start talking to my DR about it. I need answers!
