Wow I thought I was the only one, I read on a doctors forum a couple days ago and found something but lost the page and can't remember the name. But I want to find help cause everything people are saying is everything I had when I was younger. I haven't had it in about three years but when I was reading up on it it said the it can be caused by liezeins or however you spell it haha on the brain or from previous injury to the brain and can cause alzthymers. Now I'm not saying this is what we have been posting about but it had same symptoms. And I've found myself over the years getting something I call space cadet-ism and it's been really frequent and has been affecting my work. And it's not do to little sleep or just not focusing cause I litterally do my best but I always seem to come up short.

I saw all the dates from your posts on hear being a few years ago, if anyone has found answers of any sort or any help that can be used for this it would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Bilateral caudate heretopia in my brain, all this means is i have some disorganised cell growth in the middle of my head. This gives me epilepsy. And i totally get what everyone is talking about. My head starts running soo fast some times that i think i am going to fit.truth is it is probably a partial seizure. Aparently there are a lot of people who suffer from childhood epilepsy and grow out of it later, so this may help. Also, i mostly have the big ones in my sleep wake up sore from being in some kind of alternate reality like dreaming. I see colours during the day, not attached to anything. my doctor tells me this is ok. To be fair, you should also know i am schizoeffective. Schizophrenia with a mood disorder, these things all work against each other, if one stumbles it is most likely i will have problems in another area. I am trying to say, there are a few obvious reasons for this feeling... though the reason for other people may be different.

Try not to panic, it never seems to help. good to know i am not alone!

me too!! and i also feel like i'm talking at a rapid pace but when i have one and i ask if i am talking fast people always say "no". they used to happen ALL the time when i was like 5. at least once a week but i haven't had one in years until last week and now i'm old enough how to actually research it. insted of saying "mommy i'm haveing a fast moment"

Same here! I used to get it a lot when i was younger too and now it only happens occasionally but i get migraines right after the feeling is over and my heart races.

that might be the case in some, but in sure many people like me are/where in a school or a store and they haven't eaten all day and get the feeling. i don't mean like the starved themsleves that day it just might be before noon. But that actually might be it in some cases.

I get this fast feeling as well, and when I get this fast feeling. Its as if everything else has either gone so fast around me that I can't catchup, but in reality I know that things are normal. But as this fast feeling accelerates it becomes more intense at times, like an adrenaline rush. Other factors come into play like sound vibrations when things are happening fast, the vibration of sound intensifies this fast feeling. It used to be alot more frequent when i was a kid and then some how for a while I managed to block this out. Now I am almost 30 and this feeling is back again, not as intense as when I was a kid, but it is existent. I don't really understand it, but how I try to calm myself down, is ask myself "What are you afraid of" and I tell myself "not afraid of anything" Slowly I calm down. Sometimes when I feel like this, I cannot concentrate on anything else but this feeling and it makes me feel paralysed. I feel bound to this feeling as if I am trapped and cannot get out, then slowly the feeling goes away, this can last a day, a few hours or maybe a number of days too. I cannot put my finger on it, i have been to the doctor and they have checked my sugar levels and everything is normal. The only health issue I have, is Hypothyroidism.

Its reassuring that other people get it. However it happened to me very little when I was younger and now I'm 17 and it happens all the time... I'm really freaked out. It's actually happening right now... I need an answer!

I get this 'fast feeling' completely as described.

I also get 'soft things feel hard feeling' during the onset of the fast feeling. I.e. Like my soft bed feels like I am on a wooden bench. Others have described this differently but I think its probably the same thing.

I have had both since childhood, but probably only once every 2 years in adulthood. I'm not sure how often I got it in childhood, I imagine no more than once every 3 months.

I also get tinnitus maybe once every couple of months that may or may not be related.

I don't believe I have got micropsia but I do get a vision thing where people seem further away. Maybe this is in fact the same, but it is not just one object. The whole of my vision feels further away.

Using self diagnosis; It is not implausible that I have a mild form of Alice in wonderland syndrome, but I'm not certain this is what it is. If some posters are getting micropsia then it is likely to be AIWS for them, but just because 'fast feeling' comes alongside micopsia in AIWS sufferers doesn't mean it is the cause for us. They could be separate.

What causes it:

I have suffered from this as a child around bed time before actually going to sleep or shutting my eyes. I may have been feverish as a child also. I have also suffered from this as an adult just as going to bed.

I have also suffered from this on two occasions while studying, so i wonder if brain activity related to heavy thinking may be related also.

I notice a few people suggesting we might be X-men. I assume that is because secretly you would love to be special and have powers. I too would love to have powers. Maybe this is some personality trait disorder we have, or maybe humans all want to be special.

Was there a diagnosis? I'm experiencing this right this moment.

I too had this around the ages of 10-15, & put it down to me just being weird/different!!

The 1st time was when my parents returned from a nite out.I had fallen asleep watching tv. When I woke it felt like everything was in 'slow motion'- I spoke slowly, walked slowly etc. My poor mum didnt know what to think! The next time I awoke from sleeping thinking 'fast motion'. I flew out of bed, sat at the kitchen table & started banging it with my hands as fast & hard as I could- even then all I could think was 'harder, faster'. After a couple of minutes I came to & thought ""what the....?''. Seemed so right in the moment though....

I should add I also suffered from anxiety most of my teen & adult life- maybe there is some sort of link?

Hope we can all find some answers soon!<3

OMG i am so glad other people are describing the same feelings or symptoms i have. i literally just had an " episode" of it and freaked out because i have not had one in awhile and found this website just now. it started for me to when i was little . i get so scared when this happens i used to literally think i was being possessed by a demon or something. I think it has to do with lack of sleep or something, but everytime i try to describe this to my family or docotor they dont understand what im saying. i even had  hard time looking this up. i am just so hapy im not alone. does anyone know who to see about this and ways to help or prevent it?

I had this very same "fast/amplified" episode happen throughout my childhood. Actually, on and off from ages 8-30. It was strange...  I vaguely remember a strange taste in my mouth when this happened and clenching my teeth. Anyone else notice this? I spoke to my brother and he told he had the same Fast Episodes. So, I'm wondering if it's genetic. We lived a healthy normal life. I was a picky eater and my brother ate anything and everything, so I'm not sure that it is diet related. I can't think of what might cause it, but reading about temporal epilepsy makes me think that's what it is. I remember as I was getting older and as the episode would start I would think, "oh boy here we go! " And it seemed so surreal with people's voices and noises sounding like someone hit fastforward and background noise sounded distorted and my thoughts were so loud and fast like I was speaking in a microphone. It felt like an adrenaline rush. I remember after years of experiencing this, I finally tried to stay in a conversation while it was happening and thinking to myself, "do I look and sound like a freak." when I spoke My voice was very loud and fast. I would just say, "yeah, uh huh" and nod my head through conversation. I did ask my friends if I sounded strange and they said not really. I didn't know how to describe it and we didn't have google back then. :) I felt very isolated, but it didn't happen everyday. Maybe several times a year to maybe once a month. More during the tween years. I'm 37 now and have always wondered what was wrong with me...I'm glad I found this forum. I'm going to ask my kids if they are having symptoms. As an adult I have not had these symptoms, but I have a slight social anxiety issue. I sometimes get racing heart and twitchy eyes and nervousness when I don't feel comfortable in conversation.  I was thinking maybe a panic attack. Not sure if it's related to the fast episodes. I do find it's strange to hear that the fast episodes are mostly in childhood- to young adult. Why? Something to do with growth/puberty? I'm also wondering what these episodes do to our brains - if it was a seizure each time...yikes. Can't be good.

oh my god I had this since this year, age 13. It's really hard to EXPLAIN. and my family members were like Relax your mind and stress related. and i told them no. its like really FAST feelings and thoughts in my head and there's a person talking to me USING my own voice and I told them to WAIT, WAIT. It's really fast. I breath one count and there's alot of fast feelings and thoughts just RAN VERY QUICKLY past my mind. I really hate them! I was very scared.

I hope someone could consult a psychologist or something and tell us what the hell is this. Please, it's bothering my life.
