I've posted on this site before about the same issue you ladies are having. Some of us are on birthcontrol having this issue and some of are not. I can honestly say my issue is due to the xulane birthcontrol patch because the thick discharge didnt start until I began using the patch. I too thought it was yeast and have tried several remedies. Monistat, baking soda douche, boric acid, vitamin d and magnesium, preseed....all of that. Nothing stopped the thick discharge. Went to the doctor and none of my test cane back with anything that would cause the thick white discharge. Went to 2 doctors and both said I was normal and it was a side effect of my birthcontrol. Thid might be TMI, but before birth control my discharge was normal ( clear and not a very thick consistency). We as women know what our "normal" is, so its frustrating to deal with something like this and have a doctor tell you that nothing is wrong. That sour taste is really pissing me off. My doctor asked how I know about the taste, I told her real women know how they taste. Anyway, sex is very nerve recking for me and I have a whole routine I go through before engaging in the act. First I scoop all of the discharge out with my finger in the shower (since it wont come out on it's own), then I replenish the moisture with an organic ph balanced lubricant that I purchased from vitamin shopp. If I dont take those steps sex would be very uncomfortable as the discharges creates too much friction due to the lack of a more "fluid" discharge. So about 3 weeks ago I looked up tge side effects of the xulane birthcontrol patch and there I saw "thick curd like white discharge". Thats exactly what I'm dealing with! One doctor suggested that it may be too strong for me and might need switch to a lower dose like the pill. I said all that to say this, I believe this is a hormonal issue ladies whether you are on birth control or not. I only think its CV if you have the associated irritation. Get your hormone levels checked out as I believe that is the missinh link to this mystery discharge.
I seriously feel your pain and I'm trying to figure this all out holistically because doctors have been little to no help. I had my blood analyzed under a microscope and I have parasites in my blood cells and fungus candida yeast spores in my blood as well.. most americans do but traditional doctors do not test this commonly.. I have a very low immune system and have had this thick, white, acidic discharge for years. Hypothyroid and autoimmune issues and I'm fairly positive it's all correlated to yeast overgrowth in my gut and a system parasitic infection. The most important thing for overgrowth of yeast is to stop feeding it and kill it with nutrition, natural supplements, detoxing your organs safely and healing leaky gut. Stay hydrated!! Alkaline water is soooo important for adequate hydration! I wish I could give you a hug because I feel your pain!!

f**k im not on birthcontrol havent been since i was 16 and im 23 now and this started at 16 :( my sex life and all relationships have been ruined becuz of this. Guys always think the white stuff is a disease but its not :( i hate this help
I have been sexually active for 10 years and I have never had this issue until recently. I used to always have a clear, thin discharge that smelled sweet. I started seeing my current boyfriend 4 months ago and my problems began almost immediately after we started sleeping together. These include:
- thick, white discharge
- sometimes clumpy/sometimes smooth
- sometimes odorless/sometimes bitter or sour-smelling
- usually asymptomatic but may be accompanied by a slight itch every once in a while
- coats his penis like lotion when we have sex
- sometimes it's so watery that it drips down my leg while I'm at work
- when I get home at the end of the day, that watery drippage has dried up on my thighs and underwear (or pants if I'm commando) in a crusty manner
- if I put my finger inside, I can scoop it out
- periods where we don't have sex (I.e one of us is out of town) seem to be better
- tried lube and IT MADE MY PROBLEM WORSE
Things I have done about it:
- repeated doctors visits- tested for any and all infections and everything came back negative each time
- hydrogen peroxide douche - eliminates the problem immediately and removes odor (I do this before we have sex and the thick white discharge no longer shows on his penis).... HOWEVER, the problem is solved only temporarily and comes back in a day or 2 - this is not a solution!!!
- rephresh probiotics daily, which seemed to help initially but no longer makes a difference
- ingesting yogurt with probiotics daily
- daily internet searches on possible causes
Conclusions:
We can rule out infection since all tests have come back negative. So, why has my vaginal discharge suddenly changed? Let's think about everything in my life that has changed around the same time my discharge did:
1) my sexual partner
2) my stress level (currently high due to work)
3) my diet (my ex was a health nut and I never ate candy or chocolate when I was with him - now I find myself enjoying a lot more sugars and ice cream than I used to!)
4) I never drink enough water (this isn't a change but I do believe it plays a role because my discharge gets worse during periods where I hardly drink any water).
The most significant thing here is that it tends to go away when we haven't slept together for a few days. Thus, I'm convinced that it is pH related. In addition to my dietary changes, I think my bf's semen is probably TOO basic and it's decreasing the pH of my vagina, allowing a slight imbalance in microorganisms to occur but not enough to cause BV or yeast infection to detect on a test.
Solutions:
1) The most important thing is to make sure you've seen your doctor - get tested for yeast and BV. Once you can rule those out, break up with your BF/GF bc your juices are just not compatible.
Lol just kidding! :)
2) It's important for both you and your partner to eat a balanced diet that helps maintain a normal pH. Try to eliminate excess sugars.
3) Drink more water! Seriously... this has helped so much.
4) Do not use lube - it is basic and will only increase the pH of your vagina. Bacterial vaginosis tends to present with a slightly elevated pH. Not sure whether the elevated pH is a precursor to the gardnerella bacteria proliferating or whether it is a result, but we want to avoid anything that causes an increase in pH so that it doesn't cause an imbalance in our microorganisms.
Get it? Got it? Good.
