I had embolisation done over 10 years ago in the U.K. and my experience has been very positive too. I was lucky and it got rid of my varicocele and improved my count. Try not to get anxious about the actual metal coil you have to put it into perspective the amount of metal involved in a typical embolisation is very small about the same amount used in a paper clip. When you compare that to a bare metal stent used for heart conditions or people who have rods and pins to correct breaks or curves in bones or the amount of metal used in hip replacements it’s tiny. Metal is used in all sorts of medical procedures including conventional varicocele surgery where they clip the veins using a permanent titanium clip. With gallbladder removal surgery the veins are clipped using titanium surgical clips that stay in the body permanently. So metal in the medical industry is incredibly common including in dentistry. Just thought I’d try and make you feel a little less anxious. I live in a major (UK) city and I asked my radiologist how many embolizations he does and he said he does them every week including in the children’s hospital where he also works. The vast majority of embolizations are very successful the truth is you are far more likely to hear bad cases on the internet not good like mine. That’s not to say people have never had trouble because some people have but this sadly is the case for every type of surgery. You are always going to have people who don’t get the right treatment and it’s often down to medical negligence. Try and put things into perspective and not worry unnecessarily and certainly don’t worry about the metal coil most people who have had surgery are walking around with metal in them! Good luck!
