I am just like you. I thought I was ready to give up painkillers but without them, even with suboxone, I just get so depressed and lethargic..and I remember when I'm on painkillers I excel at everything lol. Damn it's hard to face the fact that I may need a lil something my whole life it sucks to realize this but at the same time I wanna be happy and function!

Good for you

I agree with you, Jeff! I just found this forum because I was wondering the same about switching from oxy to sub. Someone stole my script last month and a friend gave me a sub to help me out, and I think it may work better for my pain. Just don't know if I'd get sick going from the oxy (on a painful night like this) to the sub. Looks like I don't dare!

Immediate relief. If you want to get off oxy n kick it suboxone is the way to go. If you're wding you'll feel better on the first dose

You sir are wrong. I know from FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE. I took 16 mg of dilaudid one morning and then got up 6 hours later and immediately took a subutex through IV and within 15 minutes my whole body was tingling like pins and needles and I was sweating like a pig. 15 minutes after that i was in the bathroom pooping uncontrollably and throewing up as if my guts were trying to leave my body through my mouth. My lungs and nose were producing unbelievable amounts of mucas and I thought sure I was gong to choke to death right there on the toilet. I had a fever of 102 that came on in literally 10 minutes and was pouring sweat like i was back in Somalia. I jumped in the shower to try to regulate my temp and still be able to throw up and expel the mucas. It lasted for about 45 minutes before i could finally get out and dry off , now shiverring , and lay in bed. But for the next 2 hours I was on the toilet and my body was emptying my boweld like there was no tomorrow. I finally settled into an uneasy sleep. But that IS what happens when you take a subutex while on a good amount of opiate. YOU WILL FEEL LIKE YOU ARE DYING AND YOU MAY WELL DO SO. The Subutex is EXACTLY what you are given in a hospital to initiate a rapid detox. It is NOT pretty and it is VERY dangerous. NEVER again will I do that. But do NOT liten to the person above saying nothing will happen.
RUle of thumb is exactly what most were saying. Subs first, you are good, Subs second and you WILL have a BAD BAD TIME.

I don't know what y'all are talking about. I took 8mgs of a sub at 4pm and at midnight filled my Oxymorphone script ten at 12:15am snorted a half a 20mg pill and felt it immediately. The sub didn't block sh*t after only 8 hours. It has to be because your tolerance to opiates is higher than you thought.

Simple - most of you have it wrong. Naloxone prevents the absorption of IV opiates, and, yes, blocks receptors. It prevents IV abuse. However, Burenorphine, the "Sub" part pos the name, is the "stickiest" opioid - it will knock any other opiate molecule off a receptor, temporarily leaving your system EMPTY of usable opiate, hence the precipitated withdrawal - that will pass, once the sub moves in and fill up that receptor, for a little while, you will feel awful; plus, because it has such a powerful affinity for the receptor, it will prevent other opiates from getting in, hence, no high until the sub breaks down and leaves space for whatever you take next. Since it is a PARTIAL AGONIST, it fills the receptor but does not hit every part of the system- - simplified way of explaining why it is POTENT and binds so tightly, but doesn't give most people much of a high - why it is much less likely to be abused. A mild glow, or nothing, but specifically, no withdrawals either, why it is so useful. If you have to be stuck on something hard to get off from (easier for a few people, but difficult for most, since it has a long half-life and binds strongly) at least sub does not affect your health quite as significantly as the other opiates of abuse. The naloxone in suboxone as opposed to subtext/buprehorphine is just another layer of protection especially for people who might try to get an extra kick by shooting up.

Ok,ok I took 1 hole 8 mg sub got 3/1/2 hrs ago got 20mg oc n took 2 adivan 1 mg will I b alright with taking the OCS??? Still feel shitty!!!

Yes. Sub withdrawal is brutal and lasts a month. Not as physical as painkillers but the psychological part is always the worst part anyways. Most people can bear the physical if your mind is in the right place if not every little ache and pain feels like death is approaching.

WARNING:  CAN BE DANGEROUS.  WARNING:  WRONG ANSWERS GIVEN

DO NOT TAKE OXYCONTIN IF YOU ARE ON SUBOXONE.  IT WILL MAKE YOU SERIOUSLY SICK, POSSIBLY NEEDING A HOSPITAL.  SUBOXONE IS USED TO DETOX SOMEONE OFF OF OPIATES, INITIALLY..  WITH CONTINUED USE, SUBOXONE IS A DETERANT FROM OPIATES AND HEROIN. IF YOU TAKE ANY OPIATES THE SUBOXONE, IT WILL PUT YOU IN FULL WITHDRAW AND YOU WILL BE VERY SICK.  METHODONE IS AN O9PIATE BLOCKER AND IS DIFFERENT FROM SUBOXONE BECAUSE IF YOU TAKE AN OPIATE YOU WON'T GET AS HIGH, BUT AT LEAST YOU WON'T BE SICK.
