The best thing for relieving hydrocodone withdrawal is Immodium AD (or it's generic loperamide). It's an OTC opioid. It binds strongly to the opioid receptors in your parasympathetic nervous system (PNS). Take 4 of these little pills, instead of the label-recommended 2. Note: drug addicts are known to take 20-30 Immodium pills at one time, but 4 should totally stop your withdrawal symptoms.

Note 2: it takes about 4 hours for Immodium/loperamide to really get into your system. So just be a little patient after taking the 4. And don't take anymore for at least 12 hours -- it's long acting stuff.

It's the best kept secret in opioids. You will see.

I just started withdrawing, surprisingly I'm having no problems except RLS in which I take lyrica it helps with that! Downing energy shots, taking xanax ( I'm not a fan of xanax but told me to take some to help) they knock me out! I was taking tabs 10-325 daily 7 tops!

I am on week 7 of not taking Hydrocodone. took 10/325 about 10 per day for 2 years and sometime more. I managed to keep my job but many days I would have to just sleep because the vicodin wouldn't provide the energy it once did.
I was given a Butrans patch 20 mg and the dr cut me off cold turkey off hydrocodone. My understanding is that this is not good medical advice but he did it. It has been my least painful withdrawal off hydrocodone. I have been on and off for years for recreational use and pain. I am not on the Butrans patch, does not get me high but definitely helps with pain. Now I am worried, I will have to experience some withdrawal with the patch, however, I would highly recommend the patch to anyone taking a high dose of vicodin over long periods and needs to quit. The patch does not really appeal to me other than pain relief. The things that sucks for me is the emotional toll. All feelings are elevated to an uncomfortable level. I am extremely sad or depressed, not quite ready for socialzing yet. I would think I would be better by now, but possibly the patch is causing some of this and it's not withdrawal. Good luck to all. I can't wait to be pain free and more importantly, pain pill / patch free. I almost feel like pain is worth being sober.

Wouldn’t that kill your liver in short order? I understand tolerance but wouldn’t 40 a day kill you? Why not use something else?

Here is a question I'd like anyone to please chime in on.  I have a herniated L5 disc and a metal rod in my arm where I shattered it from a car accident. I am prescribed 3 Norco 10/325 a day. I deal with alot of pain daily.  I started just taking one a day and I got energy and felt great, so in time I started taking 1 & 1/2 a day. Its been about 2 years now, I used to take a day or two off of taking them (if I could stand the pain) to lower my tolerance fearing I'd get addicted to these. Its been prob 6 months since I took one of those breaks. I cant take the pain, and I love the energy and feeling I get from them. I'm at the point now where I'm dependant on them. Now I know that 1 and a half to 2 10's a day isnt c**p to most of you guys, but do you guys think I would have withdrawls if I quit? I dont know if it's a metal addiction or physical.

Also, Did anyone else have a real hard time pooping? I also noticed my hair thinning out, anyone on this problem? ( it just may be where i'm aging)

thanks for any help

Rick, DO NOT go on Saboxone. I had 3 rotator cuff surgeries in 1 year & I got addicted to the vicodin, but I needed more, then I went on, Percocet, then Oxy's.. I was taking so much that I couldn't come off on my own. A friend told me about Saboxone & I went to a dr that said I would come off within a year & he put me on a very low dose- come to learn about it after that year, it's like methadone jr. My family had to help me decide to go Into a detox center because there was No way I could do it on my own. I went under Anathesia & I was in the hospital for 24 hours & stayed at a hotel for 2 days after that. It wasn't cheap, but it was way easier than doing it alone. They give you tons of stuff to help get through it & I did amazing. My advice is to look Into it & get your life back. It's called Rapid Detox Center in Livonia Michigan

Hi, I found this post because I tio am searching for answers. I am approaching for 30 since my last 10/325. I started 28 months ago after a surgery. I take them with a prescription, with the exception I sniff them ( believe it or not swallowing them made me throw up) . So why am I quitting, well because of the liver damage I am worried about. Hep c positive from a early surgery and blood transfusion. I am starting to be afraid of death. Any way, hour thirty... rls trying to sleep, I have the runs and am kind of bitchy. Besides that I have nothing else to report. Good luck to you and wish me luck Staying off them.

I had a breast lumpectomy about 6 weeks ago. I was prescribed 5/325 hydro  one to 2 every 6 hrs as needed. I took them daily for a week but never went over recommended dose, by week 2 may e 3 to 4 daily. I had also taked 7.5/500 and 10/325 for an ear and back surgery 6 months ago. Again I never exceeded recommended does and often went days without taking them. When I tried to go back to work after 2 weeks I didn't take the pills. I was weak exhausted, aching, cold sweat. Now 6 weeks out I still get this to a lesser degree if I don't take one to two daily. Could this be addiction or just recover from surgery???? Thanks

Suboxone is a miracle!! For anyone who wants to quit taking pills....suboxone is the way. I was taking 20 lorcet a day when i came across suboxone...it saved my life. Try finding a suboxone clinic if your doctor wont write the script for you. Good luck, you can do this!!!!

The Fourth Amendment applies to restrictions upon the government. They cannot "force" you to take a drug test. What they CAN do is state that "if you wish to be employed by the government, you will submit to random testing." You can refuse, but then you do not get the job. Same with a private employer. If you were to come to work for me, I would make testing part of the employment. You can refuse, but then you can be dismissed for violating your contract.

I have 2 herniated discs lower back...was on hydrocodone 10.750 2 x a day...constipated all the time, (terrible, always on stool softeners) just decided to quit...back still hurts, but the pills were messing up my head, making me depressed cuz I knew I would need more and more..then have a failing liver, etc. going to try "foundation" exercises, and just keep moving would rather have the pain
