You probably have an allergy to most tooth pastes I have found this problem as well, I now cannot use Crest, Colgate, Arm & Hammer, the only two toothpaste that seems to work for me without that disgusting film is Tom's of Maine and Sensodyne (toms tastes better than sensodyne). .... They have definitely changed ingredients in many toothpastes over the years because this issue seems to be pretty common. The toothpaste is irritating your delicate and sensitive gum tissue I have refrained from those immediately if you're experiencing these symptoms... I am not a doctor and this is not intended as medical/dental advice this is an opinion based on purely my accounts/experiences.

The mucous is a direct result of the toothpaste that you are using. Some ingredients in toothpastes are too harsh for many mouths, and can actually burn the outer tissue of the oral cavity. It then forms into the globs of white discharge you find in your mouth. To stop this from happening, switch to a toothpaste that does not contain harsh whitening ingredients or peroxide. Silica-based whitening toothpaste should not cause this problem. It may also result from toothpastes with a high concentration of baking soda.

I have been having the same problem, even when my dentist saw it himself, he didn't know what it was caused by. The only thing I can think that it could be is the toothpaste Oral B.

It's a shame because it's really nice toothpast

Its clumps of dead cells... It's due to "harsh chemicals" in whitening toothpaste.

Omg, it's not bacteria. It's a film from the Crest toothpaste. It just peels off.

Great to read, I experienced this, but it's only with the Sensodyne Whitening, so I'll go back to her regular.

It is very problematic with trying to pull out gooey film from the inside of my mouth or spitting it out on a paper towel. I find this film after brushing with Crest Pro-Health Advanced. Maybe it is cleaning really good, I dont know. I never had this problem when I used Colgate total stripe. Hmmmm

Thank you Sensodyne used to work for me but I think they snuck in a new whitening ingredident. I will try Burts Bees and Melaleuca. Take care.

I tired just about every popular toothpaste and always had a lot of white, stringy coating inside my cheeks and on my gums. My dentist told me that there are so many more "chemicals" and stuff added to tooth pastes these days and I was experiencing a reaction to one or more of those additives. I've since switched to Tom's toothpaste (with the fluoride in it) and have no longer have any of that white sticky film.

It most definitely is the toothpaste .
I had the same issue for a long time I switched toothpaste A few times until I finally found one that I could use. I use Tom's rapid relief sensitive fluoride free natural toothpaste. Haven't had a single incident of the film in my mouth since then.
