You already know smoking is bad for you, but it's WORSE to be a sedentary smoker than an active one. I doubt smoking shortly after a workout is significantly worse than when your heart rate gets back to normal, but if you're concerned about it, maybe you should wait an hour or so before lighting up again.

thats depends on ur stamina ..while u are doing the work out...yet times you may face a situation like uneasy to breath..so after doing the workout smoking should not be considered....and being a smoker its not effect to the body while doing a workut it only depends on your strength in your mucles to lift up....so smoke should not be considered after workout

I quit smoking 7 years ago and today I will go back to the habbit. Bad choice, I know. I don't drink, don't go to clubs...so let me enjoy something at least. :( I used to smoke a pack a day, for 5 yrs. Now I will do only 1 to 2 cigarettes a day. Sholdnt be too bad.

One cigarette is a link to a very addictive substance. There's no easy fix once you're linked. Sooo glad I'm nolonger hooked. There's more to life than sucking hot cinders into your body. Tastes sooo yummy. Sorry, but smoking is sooo not cool. I'm embarrased to think that I let myself get suckered into it. Took twenty years to get it off my back. Cigarettes smoke and people are only the suckers on the end of them. Go ahead if you like people feeling sorry for you. I do for every smoker I see.

Wow. Is it bad? Im 43 and have serious health and heart/lung issues for my 23 years of smoking, that's how I found your post was looking for help starting an exercise routine after a heart disease diagnosis and when I cant carry a load of laundry up my basement stairs without prractically collapsing from not enough oxygen. You already have the exercise thing taken care of, why would you want to do smoking so right for your health and your body from the exercise then blow all your hard work from exercise to smoking. You are absolutely correct that exercise and smoking do not go together, because they just dont. One sustains a healthy longer life and the other is basically a flesh eating virus that can take 5-30 years to show symptoms. I appreaciate your honesty but seriously think about what you said in that post, it makes no logical sense...Just quit..Thats a wrap.

sorry dude, you are not a mystery, i have the same kindof metabolism and body type, the agile, fast and strong type that can push through any sickness, and alot of people waste that energy. by not believing in themselves. i skateboarded for 15 yrs , broken countless bones, among other injuries , now im stronger and faster then ever before. and i heal fast! I cannot smoke after a workout because i have a lung disease, thats just me tho,

I started smoking at 16, and started 1 pack a day around 18 years old. I am now 19 and i quit for good. I quit 2 weeks ago and i already feel the difference. If you think you can be healthy and strong/in shape while smoking. Think again. Nothing good comes from smoking. Dont even start it. Those of you who think you need cigs because of your cravings, shake it off and work out instead. Also drink water when you crave it therefore physical cravings last 10 seconds. THINK ABOUT IT. Do cigarettes even do anything for you? No....

2 hours atleast. allow your body to return to normal heart rate. if you smoke immediately after workout youll have blood cancer in 2 years.

I am 19 in the british army, I have smoked since I was 14 and yet I have never had any problems keeping up with the physical requirements my job asks of me, I guess what im saying is that if your dedicated enough to exercise then smoking wont hold you back, obviously the benefits of exercise will be greater if you dont smoke though

Yes cigarette smoking after workouts is that your chest area works with full potential and you breathing fresh air within you. So cigarette smoking will make consumed smoking to go all through your respiratory system which is not really good.
