This has been so encouraging to know I am not crazy. I am 47 and have been experiencing the same symptoms. Mine actually did start with a yeast infection. My doctor said it didn't look like a yeast infection but the initial test came back positive. I am not usually prone to yeast infections and I was not taking any previous antibiotics, but it has been a rather stressful summer with many big life events happening, so I may have been more run down than usual. I was prescribed fluconazole, but it came back; then more, and it came back; then ketoconazole and again, fluconazole; and still I was having symptoms. I went back into the doctor and he tested me for uti, bacteria, yeast, and STD. It all came back negative. I even tried natural methods such as inserting cloves of garlic, and a natural menstrual sponge treated with colloidal silver; which actually did bring some relief. My doctor has given up and referred me to an OBGYN scheduled next week. I have a light amount of white, milky discharge that feels like acid as it leaks out. At times it will get more curdy. I have sores on the lower part of my vagina mostly where I see the discharge. I have mostly continuous burning which overpowers any itching I might have. I'm still convinced it is yeast, but what is causing it to keep returning and why am I getting sores? It's possible it could be some illusive viral thing. I'm hoping for some answers following my new appointment.

I am 18 years old and I got a yeast infection from what I assume was the antibiotics I just finished. I had never had a yeast infection before but I bought monistat 1(please don't use this, at least go for the 7 day monistat) for a quick fix. My vagina and vulva were in so much pain and felt swollen and when I peed it burned like hell. I didn't know this was abnormal for yeast infection because like I said it was my first one. I looked with mirror and light and to my horror I saw my whole vaginal area was swollen and I had two circle sores on the right side of my vulva and one right on the skin under my vaginal opening. They did not look like herpes blisters or sores at all they were flesh colored or maybe a little more red than the surrounding skin. I was completely freaking out and of course googled what it meant obsessively and I found this page. It was the only page that said I could have something other than herpes. I don't have any symptoms of herpes besides the sores. I have been with my boyfriend for two years and we have been having unprotected sex for those two years and we have never been unfaithful to each other, and I should have gotten herpes way earlier if that's what it was. I went to the doctor today and told her I think I had an allergic reaction to monistat creme she said reactions to monistat are very common and can have a number of bad side effects. She inspected the sores and said it did not look or behave like herpes when she swabbed it. There was no puss, no leakage, and no crusting over of the sores. It looks as if someone just removed the top layer of my skin in a circle shape, the sores are a little smaller than the eraser on top of a pencil. My doctor said she believes I'm right and it's just a really bad side effect to monistat. I was prescribed an oral tablet to get rid of the yeast infection and a steroid cream for the sores and swelling. She also recommend taking baths in Epsom salt. She did swab the sores to test for herpes and I should get my results back in the next few days. I never thought i would post on this website but the relief I found by reading all your stories that had a happy ending lifted my spirit. I understand that having herpes is not the end of the world but I have only had sex with him and I'm only 18 I don't think I could handle that news. I will post again with my result. Thank you all for sharing your stories.

I am having this same issues I took ammoxaxylan and then I started to get a yeast infection. After a few days I started getting bumps and now they are exactly how you explained your symptoms. I went to the doctor and they prescribed me that Acyclovir 3 times a day and now I started my treatment yesterday the lady looked at me when she was looking at my area and told me she "thinks" it's herpes she didn't swab me , take my blood or anything. Nothing. They gave me the pills and I've been taking ibuprofen but it still itches I don't know what to do. I've been putting tea tree oil on it but I don't know what else to do. I have an appointment on the 27th but I want this irritation gone now...

Oh my goodness I am so happy I found this thread. Months ago I got an STD screen and herpes was negative, but I'm having a hard time ruling it out because of these symptoms! I had my period last week, and I was wearing these fragranced pads. I think that set off an initial yeast infection, including my birth control. I thought that it was just general irritation from the pads, so last Saturday I had sex with my boyfriend. He's always a little rough, and very well endowed and my birth control makes me a little dryer than I should be. I'm not really concerned when I get a little scrape or two. Well on Sunday, I was wearing some restricting shorts, and I don't know why I ignored it, but it was just very sore. I guess I figured it was just sore from sex. Well on Sunday night, it's starting to hurt really bad to pee, so I figured it was a UTI or a yeast infection. Monday comes around, and it's painful and uncomfortable. I laid around all day. I checked down there and just saw small little cuts and figured it was from sex. Tuesday comes around and I go to the doctor, because I take pictures with flash so I could really see what was happening down there and there's all these little (perfectly described as) octopus tentacle looking lesions. They're not clumped together or raised like a lot of herpes pictures. I'm a little swollen and irritated looking. There's also some larger lesions that are crusted over trying to heal. It doesn't burn or anything, it's only excruciating when I have to pee. It itches for awhile and it stops for awhile. My doctor said that my pictures looked more like a yeast infection but also looks a bit like herpes because the creamy white discharge was present but the lesions aren't very common in a yeast infection. I took Monistat 3 on Monday and I didn't like the cream it came with but the ovule I think does it's job. She prescribed me a yeast infection medication for 5 days and now fast forward to today, Wednesday, and it's feeling a little better. It seems more crusty due to healing and the little octopus tentacle lesions seem to be mostly gone. It still burns to shower with it because I have a lot of extra skin in that area, so some of the lesions hide. It hurts less with cool water or a cool napkin. By the way, one of the best ways to relieve the burning after urination is to just get a wet paper towel and hold it for about 30 seconds. All day today I've just been laying in bed, as yesterday and Monday too. I'm beyond ready for this to be over with, as the yeast infection medication seems to be working quickly. I just want to be able to pee without wanting to cry :( I go to the Internet looking for symptoms to figure out what's wrong but it's so hard when everything points to herpes. This is the only site I've found where many women are suffering the same awful yeast infection. Every other site says it's herpes. Basically, I was in tears at the thought that I could have herpes because I didn't know what that could mean for my future and for my relationship. I was so relieved to find that it could just be a yeast infection. Really the only thing convincing me that it's yeast is the last weeks careless conditions down there, and the fact that the medicine seems to be working. I'm still just nervous of the small chance of it being herpes. My partner and I were both tested at the beginning of our relationship, after we had already been sexually active and neither of us had anything. I was however diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis and a yeast infection, so I feel I am prone to minor inconveniences. This one just got much worse. Good luck to all with this issue, I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

I am going through a similar experience. I had protected sex with two guys (separate occassions) within a week. Before the judgement factory starts up, I was trying to move on from being cheated on plus it was protected! I'm probably just judging myself really. Anyways, I had irritation after the second guy (week after the first), just classic yeast infection starting stuff and shrugged it off because I get that sometimes with a new partner. I also have had a history of bv. So, I had sex with him on a Saturday and then on Tuesday. I noticed it was uncomfortable and peeing hurt a bit. I thought ok, yeast infection and uti, time to lay off sex. The irration continued and that Friday I notice three bumps (close but not clustered), they look like pimples. They don't hurt at all, I have no flu symptoms either, not even that itchy, just uncomfortable. I go to my pcp that same morning, she looks and says 'looks like herpes! You have a lot of discharge in your cervix too, so you could have chlamidya or gonorrea.' Um, what? Protected sex and now I have three stds....doesn't seem plausible. They went down on me but did not have present coldsores and both said they didn't as kids, as well as any other symptoms. She takes a swab, gives me a shot of antibodics and a prescription of an additional antibodic and valtrex for all these stds I MAY have. 5 days later I get the results, negative for everything except the pcr swab in positive for herpes but is unable to type (hsv 1 or 2) due to low viral load. I am also positive for a severe yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis! She prescribes another set of antibodics (metzdol...something) for the bv and flucan for the severe yeast infection. Meanwhile, my vagina is twice its size and the whitehead pimples have spread, but they don't look like herpes, they look like yeast trying to escape my skin. They are NOT PAINFUL at all. I have researched hsv up and down and I know it can come in many forms, but my gut this whole time is saying no, this is a severe yeast infection. So to note, the yeast infection was severe BEFORE the 3 sets of hardcore antibotics, so imagine it afterwards. The flugen started to work and within a week, everything was back to normal. I know pcr are highly accurate, but false positives do happen and the fact they couldn't type it with NAAT is odd, its supposed to be highly sensitive. I got an igm (even though they are worthless and I had to inform my PCP that I needed an IgG instead). The igg came back negative for both so it's either a new infection or the pcr is a false positive. I have had no symptoms since. Also, the most recent guy got tested and his igg was negative for both. The previous guy is getting tested soon. I am not going down without a fight, I will be getting the western blot in 3 months to see if it is hsv 1 or hsv 2 or neither. I know it can be dorminate, but my igg was negative for both, so it's either new or for the love of god a false postive. Hoping severe yeast infection + bv + antibotic reaction can be the answer. I just wanted to move on from my cheating ex, who destroyed my heart and I was responsible with protection. I haven't had anything before this and am clear for every other std, I had a full blood test after this started to make sure. Just feels off, my gut is telling me.

Omg thank you so much for your story. I have the current issue. The antibiotics the doctors prescribed me for a UTI my body is resistent to it. This is the second time with in a 2 month span that this has happened to me. My PCP referred me to a urinologist and I'm scheduled to have test run later this month. The vasoline is a good idea but I have been using aquaphor it worked the first time around but not now. So if you can find any thing to help please share. Thanks

I have been searching and searching for the last few days. I'm 20, I've never had an std or even a yeast infection/uti. I'm going to my towns health department tomorrow. I've been with my husband for almost 4 years, and we have a child. About a week ago we had sex, and I noticed a mild irritation. I figured it would go away on its own, but after a few days it started to hurt. I put vagisil on it and it only made the paid worse. Last night I decided I was going to take a picture of it to see what exactly was going on. I noticed 3 vertical 'scratches' above my vaginal entrance between my labia. It looked like a layer of skin had been scratched off, and hurt like all hell. Neosporin didn't help the pain, so I picked up a spray bottle of bactine. It seemed like a miracle, it numbed it enough for me to go about daily life. I checked it a few minutes ago, and now instead of looking like scratches, they're white. I'm not quite sure what to think, but gods and I worrying.

Wow, this thread gives me hope... Although I HAVE been experiencing hot flashes, I haven't been sick to my stomach or anything.. About 5 days ago, I developed a small cold sore on the corner of my mouth, which is weird because I never get cold sores. Even more curious is that I've always been a germaphobe, so I don't share drinks or silverware. A day after the cold sore developed, I started to itch a little bit down there, thinking nothing of it.. I stupidly hooked up with a guy that I've been messing around with for a few months that same day, kissing him and letting him go down on me. Here it is five days later, and my vag has really started itching, and upon examination with a mirror, to my horror I've found sores.. They aren't clustered together (like warts) like all the herpes pictures I've found, I have two on my right vaginal lip, a little bigger than a pencil eraser, they are swollen with what looks like a tiny hole in the middle.. I feel gross explaining this, but I'll let this forum know if I get any answers to my questions as to what these itchy sores might be.. It's just strange because a week ago I had a blood test and the doc said my blood was perfectly normal. I go back in on Monday (2 days from now). I hope and pray it's not herpes or something else that's not curable....
