Kay2012, I am so happy for you. I am experiencing something similar now, though the urination wasn't as painful for me because the bumps are out of the way. I am truly happy for you and I hope I don't sound patronizing when I say, as someone who is pretty sure I won't be so lucky, please, please take this experience and learn from it. If I could turn back time - I would get tested every three months even if I wasn't sexually active and ask for a hard copy or paperwork of the outcome to carry around with me. When I met someone who was interested in sex and if I was interested to I would show them my paper and say - if you want me, I'm not cheap and the first thing you must do is go the clinic and wait for the results and I do the same. The man would find it quite attractive and losers would fall to the way side. It could also be very erotic waiting for the results. I want to ask you to please be vigilant about your sexual health and never be afraid to share this story and the fear you felt. I was so naive to all of this. I fell in love with a loser and there are other things. I don't have the results yet but I am convinced of the worst. It's ok, I will get through it no matter what but man, it's crazy how the worst outcome is the very thing that wakes you up to the problem. Kind of ironic. Good for you, really.

I'm having very similar symptoms, and completely freaking out-I'm nearly 18 and recently had sex with a boyfriend. Prior to that I'd only had sex with one other person, nearly a year ago, and I know he was clean. I guess there's a chance the recent guy was infected but it wouldn't make much sense as he's not promiscuous and would have told me. I've also had the gardasil shots which should give me about 90% protection against hsv1/2. Anyways I was sick the past week or so with a bad fever, and all of the sudden noticed pain when wiping. What was just a bit of a bump is now a large, white sore, I would describe it as very similar to a canker sore- and there are about 6 of them at this point. they hurt like hell and I'm terrified. I will get tested if it goes on much longer, I'm just so embarrassed and don't want to ask my mom to make me an appointment.

oh sweetie.. :( that sounds like its 99% herpes.. I feel your pain.. I got my results today, they were negative, but my dr still thinks its herpes.. I only had one sore though.. Very rare. On top of it Im pregnant.. :( I am sorry.. The best thing to do it to get on medicine ASAP! Also, this may sound weird, but! My best friend of 10 years has herpes, and when she has a breakout (only 3 in 7 years) she put Lysol on a cotton ball and rubs it on her sores. She said they go away with in 2 or 3 days and doesn't have another breakouts for years! (She told me this today when I told her that my dr said he thinks I have herpes) She said it burns like hell, but she said its worth it to have them heal so fast and not have breakouts for years afterwards. If I ever get another sore im going to deff try it. But I told my dr that since I got a neg culture test, if I don't ever get another sore, what does that mean. And he said im good then! So im confused. But I hope I helped a little bit. Get it cultured before you (or if you) do the Lysol thing, because you want to get them tested before they heal so they can get a good test reading. Good luck!

I don't think this sounds like herpes, it sounds like canker sores. Get tested. There is a blood test they can use for anti bodies, so just to be sure. They may just be canker sores. Did you notice them ever looking like blisters? full of liquid?

I'm sorry dear. The same c**p happened to me. That is genital herpes. Go to planned parenthood. They tested me and my results came back in 3 days. It sucks really bad. They have a maintenence medication for it though.

Oh and the herpes lesions are pusticles they're painful and bleed and get p***y. If you don't use the cream (or vaseline the other person mentioned) if you rip your underwear off the lesions off during an outbreak they bleed. I was just diagnosed a month ago. I don't go to the OBGYN at my family doctor. I'm 27 and still go to Planned Parenthood. Best of luck to you dear and don't let those bastards win. I hate men lol

i posted not long ago about my symptoms. the results came back and i was positive for hsv 1 (which is what causes cold sores on your mouth) but what the real problem was the bacterial infection that i had. group step b is what he called it. i was not even functional 2 days after my visit i called every day to check on the results and finally they came back. a nurse talked to me and called in a prescription for penicillin. i took 4 of those a day for a week.  i felt tremendous relief after one day. it was glorious to be able to urinate without crying. so...group strep b. it's common in women, he told me physiological stress can cause it. he offered to put me on meds forever to keep another outbreak at bay but since i had never had something quite like this i opted to just let it ride and see how it goes. he said that i might never have another outbreak in my life or i could have one 3 weeks from now. you just dont know. so i opted for a more new age remedy to try and keep myself calm, crystals, incense, oils. but everyone hang in there! there is light at the end of the tunnel! i know it doesnt seem like it but there is. i've been where you are so i understand the pain and discomfort you're going through!

be well!

Did you ask your doctor about what could have caused Group Strep B?

I am on day 4 of experiencing something similar to this. I have a new partner I've been with for two months now and have never slept with more than 3 men (including him). I've never had an STD before and had myself tested with negative results after my second partner. My current boyfriend reports that he's been tested with negative results, so we're both clean.

I first noticed that my vagina was extremely tender and slightly swollen on Sunday when I showered. My boyfriend, who is well-endowed, and I had rough sex the night before. I took a look at my vagina with a mirror and noticed that on the outer left side of my labia minora (down by the rectum) was what looked like small lesions (the appearance was like stretch marks, in my opinion). I chalked it up to our bedroom antics so didn't think anything of it. As the day progressed, I was feeling tingling sensations from my daily movements (walking, sitting, etc). This didn't strike me as anything out of the ordinary. Monday was when the affected area became swollen, there was also a noticeable white layer of substance on these lesions. I was able to wipe and clean off the substance but not without experiencing small pain. I have a high tolerance for pain so it didn't bother me as much. Throughout the day, I would check on the area every 1-2 hours and took pictures just to keep a log of what was happening. The lesions then turned into what I can only describe as an open wound (the outer layer of skin covering the area was gone, showing only a red layer of flesh underneath). This was when the pain began to magnify! Walking, sitting and putting any kind of pressure on my thighs, even using the slightest muscle leg movement, triggered an unbearable amount of pain! I began to research possibilities and like most of you, a lot of them were pointing towards some related STD, but none of what I was going through seemed to match any of them. Before I made a big hoopla about what it was, I tried out some home remedies for comfort such as bathing with epsom salt or tea tree oil. I found that an epsom salt bath didn't help but only aggravated the area. A tea tree oil bath (a few drops) was a lot more comforting. My Monday evening was spent getting in and out of a tea tree oil bath before I decided that a visit to the doctor was necessary. On Tuesday morning, I went to Planned Parenthood, thinking that this must be STD-related.  After talking to the CNM, her initial thoughts pointed towards genital herpes. I underwent a mentally, emotionally and physically painful examination, I couldn't breathe or talk as she prodded me and took swabs for every single STD test. During the exam, she stated that the affected area didn't look like genital herpes but she couldn't rule it out. She said it looked nothing like what she's seen in the past. She also went ahead and took a blood sample.  The culture for yeast infection came back within 20 minutes, and she said she wasn't surprised when it turned out that I had a small amount of yeast infection. She said it's probably because my body is trying to get rid of whatever is happening down there so it's building up a lot of discharge. Of course, I felt none of the "normal symptoms" of a yeast infection. She sent me home with a prescription for Acyclovir tablets (to be taken immediately since she felt that if it's genital herpes, I should start taking them) and Fluconazole (to be taken only if I was actually displaying the symptoms for a yeast infection). She said if it's genital herpes, the Acyclovir will start working quickly to get the outbreak under control. She seemed befuddled by the whole thing and couldn't quite send me home with something concrete. By this time, my emotional state is exhausted. A conversation with my boyfriend assured me that I'm the only one he's been with since we've been together. On Wednesday afternoon, I received a phone call from Planned Parenthood.  The news was devastating, I tested positive for Chlamydia. I was issued Azithromycin in liquid form, they wrote a prescription for my boyfriend as well. My HIV, gonorrhea and syphilis tests were all negative otherwise. It still didn't explain what was going on with my vagina. At this point, the swelling in the area has lessened, but it seems to have affected the right side of my labia minora as well, just a small area.  I also discovered on Wednesday that there are two “canker sore” looking spots on the inside of the right side of my labia majora that wasn’t there a few days ago.  I have no idea what these are as they don’t fit the description of a genital herpes outbreak.  It’s Thursday now and I am awaiting the results of my genital herpes test with angst.

I have a better handle on controlling the pain to make it bearable. I have discovered that using A&D ointment cream directly on the “wound” after peeing and/or a shower really helps to not only protect the “cut”, but also provide lubrication so that you can keep with your daily activities (such as walking, but I wouldn’t recommend running). ;)  As many of you mentioned, when you’re peeing, it helps to bend forward if you’re on the toilet and just urinate as fast as you can.  I also keep a cup of lukewarm water nearby so after I’m done urinating on the toilet, I dump the cup of water over my vagina which helps to wash away the urine salt and toxins.  If I’m at home and need to urinate, I jump into the tub and use my hand-held showerhead to wash over my vagina as I pee.  Remember to use A&D ointment cream after every peeing or washing session.   It will hurt to apply but the pain is only momentary.  I’ve also noticed that drinking a lot of water helps alleviate the pain when peeing.  You’ll go to the bathroom more often but the amount of water you release with the urine reduces the salt that’s typically in urine.  Plus, you don’t want an UTI so drink plenty of water.  Standing also helps lessen the pain because you’re not rubbing your thighs together, so stand as much as you can.  If you have to sit, tuck a leg under your butt to avoid putting pressure against your vagina.

As soon as I get my results back about the genital herpes, I will update my post.  I am sharing my experience with many of you because as I stumbled upon this thread, it calmed my nerves to know that I’m not the only one.  So, thank you.

YOU CAN DEFINITELY HAVE A YEAST INFECTION AND GET OPEN SORES!!!! I have JUST experienced this.....they just appeared one day no pain, no fever, headache, body aches, nothing, just there. Mine appeared on the side (the lips) near my buttocks but still towards my vagina. They only hurt when you bothered them, nothing oozed out or anything they were just there, and annoying!!!!!! i went to urgent care and the doctor there truly believed thats what they were regardless of what i had told her, (I cried and prayed to God) and eventually started to psych myself into "living with herpes" She prescribed me medicine because I DEFINITELY had a yeast infection that was DEFINITELY untreated and I was kinda still having sex as well (HORRIBLE TERRIBLE IDEA) I started taking the one for the yeast infection more than the other to "help the herpes sores" Today I looked at them and noticed that they were just going away....(herpes sores crust over when they're healing) I called to the clinical and my results were back and NO HERPES!!! so in conclusion yes a yeast infection can cause open sores IF IT'S LEFT UNTREATED, please dont think that sores are common with yeast infections, and please don't think that if you do see sores to ignore them because of this post, still seek medical treatment STAT!!! I was blessed enough to have negative results, I hope this post was helpful. PS wherever you go if they don't take cultures of the bumps make sure they do blood work!!

I'm updating with my blood test results. Most of my results came back negative except for that I tested positive for HSV-1, but no HSV-2 anitbody present. My understanding of HSV-1 is that it's transmissable by mouth and was likely found in my vagina as "sores" because my boyfriend had performed oral sex prior to the incident, as explained by my CNM for a possible reason why my vagina reacted the way it did. A culture for HSV-2 was also negative so my CNM was assured that I don't have genital herpes.

I posted on Thursday and by Friday afternoon, it was as if my vagina had completely healed. There appeared to be nothing there to indicate the trauma I had just been through! As you can imagine, I am quite relieved by this news and yet still very perplexed by it. I'm subscribed to this post, if anyone can offer some kind expertise, I would be very curious to find out what this is all about.

Please practice safe(r) sex everyone!

I'm sorry if this will bum you out, that's not my intention, I think maybe I'm just not understanding this correctly, but HSV-1 can also take form as genital herpes. Did your culture test for both HSV-1 and 2 come back negative, and then only the bloodtest tested positive for HSV-1? You can just as easily contract HSV-1 in the genital area, and that is also considered genital herpes. If only your bloodtest tested positive for HSV-1 and not your culture test, then you probably didn't have an outbreak, as your body takes up to two months (or more) after catching the virus to develope anitbodies that will show on a bloodtest. Nothing to worry about if your culture tests were negative though, but you still have HSV-1 (like most people, they just don't know it), and can give it to others even if you never have an outbreak. Just something to keep in the back of your head, so be safe :-) On the other hand I'm very glad you're feeling better and hope you don't have to go through anything like that again!

It sounds to me like a lot of the non-herpes infections share some similarities. Perhaps a handy doctor-friendly list is in order, for those who want to show this to their gyno.

-most of the people were slightly ill (i.e., an immune system that wasn't quite at 100%) prior to the outbreak with a cold, sinus infection, etc

-almost everyone was taking antibiotics shortly before, and 2 mentioned prematurely ending their rounds, all leading to off-balance lady chemistry and mild yeast infections and/or UTIs

-a few women had [rough] sex in spite of yeast infections or tenderness, which probably created micro-abrasions in the mucous membrane, already slightly dried out and chapped from unbalanced vaginal pH post-antibiotics, and allowed infectious whatever to get into their blood stream

-several women shaved and wound up with a mild to moderate staph infection (boils, those things that are like big painful pimples)

-within 24 hours, cue the bacterial or viral infection from hell, complete with fever, headaches, swollen lymph nodes, and all the rest. 1 person's abrasion on their finger even turned into a sore. Original yeast infections/UTIs persist through all of this

-open sores that are severely painful enough to interrupt sleep and make urination excruciating.

-the sores do not respond consistently to anti-virals used for herpes treatment

-1 diagnosis for a viral infection (doctor had only seen one similar case)-1 diagnosis for severe bacterial vaginosis; 1 diagnosis for unidentified severe bacterial infection after analyzing limited samples; 1 diagnosis for Group Strep B-1 diagnosis for severe vaginitis-1 diagnosis for massive yeast infection trying to escape through mucous membrane tissue (perhaps it got under the skin somehow?); 1 diagnosis for perineal yeast dermatitis; one person said their sores responded well to repeated applications of Vagisil with no doctor's consultation, indicating a yeast infection was a component

I wonder whether the bacterial flare is a resistant reaction to milder antibiotics. My personal boogie man is drug-resistant bacteria, like MRSA or tuberculosis, so I am always interested in relevant information. I have had some experience with inexplicable issues resulting from a weakened immune system, too, namely a brief skin rash called pityriasis rosea that, since it's not lethal, no one seems to actually know anything about. That experience is what I was reminded of when everyone said their doctors were flummoxed by negative herpes tests or had no clear answers.

I am also a chronic yeast-infection victim, and am currently suffering from a particularly gung-ho infection that has started in the middle of the 2-week round of clindamycin lotion and sulfamethoxazole my dermatologist prescribed me for brand new cystic acne problems I never had before. In the past, I've never had to worry about the Cursed Ladyparts Reaction until after the antibiotics were done, and this time the skin on my labia is way more chapped and cracking than normal. I actually found this thread while browsing for lubricants or lotions, but now I am going to keep a particularly close eye on precisely all of my symptoms so I can get my poor butt to the doctor at the first sign if I need to.

By the way, I learned a long time ago that Diflucan, et al don't work for me. If that is the same case for you, Boric Acid suppositories might help. They are probably not a good idea for anyone with open sores, but if you can catch it before that stage, or if you just have a regular infuriating horrible flare up that gets past the monistat stage, they work miracles for me. They are little tampon-sized wax-coated capsules that you can put in with an applicator at bedtime, so that when the wax melts and the acid does its work you don't end up with a mess. :P I don't think you can get the prescription for them filled at CVS or Walgreens, though; I have to get mine from a composite pharmacy. If you are desperate, though, with no money or time to get a prescription immediately, you can also use a peeled clove of raw garlic like a suppository too, as long as you aren't allergic, of course. It's not fool-proof and I don't know how effective it is for Bacterial-Vaginosis-On-Steroids, but it is a pretty reliable quick-fix; I think it has something to do with its anti-fungal properties. Applying plain UNSWEETENED yogurt on a tampon or pad seems to provide some brief relief as well, and certainly feels cool and nice. It might help with the sores, too, I don't know.

I hope any of this information or the list is helpful to even one person. Yeast infections alone are awful, and this is so, so much worse. Hang in there!
