I've had this problem for almost 8 years now. I'm a 33 year old male, a runner, fit, and no major health issues other than GERD. I have gone to doctors numerous times and nothing helped and they can't seem to figure it out either. I have no stds, no "worm" of any kind, and no hemorrhoids. Have done the test for all. The only thing I have found to help alleviate the itching down there is after doing #2 is to use unscented baby wipes and waiting for it to completely dry and using a rolled up toilet paper (2-3 sheets, folded or rolled) and sticking it between the cheeks to help with the moisture, key thing to do before going to bed to help keep it dry also. Just my two cents, but if anyone has any clue in how to get rid of it, please share with the rest of us. I have seen numerous doctors in America, South Korea, Germany, UK, and Belgium. No one has any clue what it is and it's annoying. If anyone knows anything, please share. Thank you.

I have had this same issue over the past few months. I finally went to a Colon and Rectal doctor and he said it is very common - it is Pruritus Ani. He had me get Calmoseptine ointment and said i would notice significant relieve within three days but it would take a little longer for all the symptoms to go away (red sore areas, whitening of the skin, scratchy areas, etc) I have noticed a significant relief since i went to doctor two days ago.

I know this is post is super late, but as a parent myself and as someone who felt awkward talking to my parents (I left a note for my mom when I started my period- "Got period. Do NOT want to talk about it!") I understand. You have options 1) You have doctor patient confidentiality. Have your parent(s) take you for some other reason and then tell your doctor what's up and that you don't want to talk to your parents. Theu legally can't tell your parents. 2) While YOU feel awkward talking to them, they will understand. Write a note or send an email saying, "This is what's going on, I don't want to hide things from you, but I feel embarrassed/awkward twlling you about my anus." TRUST ME they WILL understand. That's awkward for adults, let alone kids/teenagers to talk about.

Ok, so you'r the only one to post that you fixed the issue with some magic ointment that your doctor gave you, but you dont say what it is?

Thanks!!

I had a similar problem. Doc gave me cortisone cream, which really helped. Then I finally realised I'm allergic to almonds and that seemed to be triggering it. Try cutting almonds and strawberries out of your diet.

I am a male and have dealt with this problem for over 15 years and for most of that time considered all the horrible possiblities mentioned in this thread.  Finally, after years of going insane and with no doctor having a clue, I discovered that the problem is was a YEAST INFECTION, likely brought on by a period where I took a large amount of antibiotics.  The way to tell for yourself is take a Diflucan pill and see if that lessens the symptoms.  You should notice a difference the next day, if yeast is the problem.

The problem with a yeast infection, though, is once you have one like his, it will likely flair up AGAIN AND AGAIN, even after you take the Diflucan, for the rest of your life -- if and when you eat sugar.  This means, if you want to be itch free, you CANNOT EVER eat ANY FRUIT OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT CONTAINS ANY KIND OF SUGAR.  Try using Stevia (KAL brand is the best) as a substitute, since it is sweet but contains no sugar at all.  If by chance you do eat sugar, and you will know when you did by the itch you get, yogurt and strict sugar/fruit avoidance will alleviate the itching over time.   Remember, sugar is in virtually every processed food, so read the label carefully, looking to avoid things, like "honey" "fruit-juice-sweetened" "corn syrup solids," "brown rich syrup", "Maltodextrin," Dextrose, (even Nutra Sweet and Splenda will trigger it).

I have not found that unsweetened white flour products have any affect on it, btw.   Good luck everyone!
