Hi, not that it is a good thing, but, I am glad to see others have the same lower left abd pain like I do. Makes me think that it is not in my head. I have had these pains for a couple of years now and was diagnosised with diverticulitis and subsequently had part of my decending colon removed approx 12 inches two spots. Major surgery. BUTTTT.... now I still have the pain. OMG this is horrible. I do have a history of ovarian cysts and have only one ovary which since I am so lucky floats from side to side. I am hoping to go back and complain some more to my gyn. At times it is just annoying and other times it is quite painful. Also, if I take a deep breathe it produces a nice sharp shooting pain. Just want the pain to stop.
Any input or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I have been having lots of problems with abdo pains in both sides. This is an ongoing problem and it sometimes shifts from on side to the other. I have been to my gp and they have referred me for more tests.[/img]

I have had pains in my left side for years. Actually 17 years to be exact..right after having my last child. I had been for many tests until one night the pain was so bad I woke up and went to get tylenol and fainted. I ended up having a concusion and had to be rushed to the hospital. It ended up that I had 3 ovarian cysts. One had reached the size of a baseball and burst and thats what caused so much pain. They say most women have cysts on their ovaries. Some worse than others. They are most painful when ovulating. The best cure is to go on the pill so you don't ovulate. Now I can feel when the pain is coming and I take advil because they have anti-inflammatories in it. As soon as you know its coming catch it. Hope this helped someone out there.

Hi. I'm 17. I've have those same symptoms. The pain was so bad i had to be hospitalized 4 times within a month and a half. The doctors think it might be something called Endometriosis. The only real way they can tell is if they do laproscopic surgery.

I had dull pain prior to period and during on left side of pelvis but thought it was normal, like cramps are to other women. However, while 4 months pregnant I began to have excruiating pain on left side of pelvis. My OB/GYN did an ultrasound and found an 11cm in diameter ovarian tumor on my left ovary. While pregnant, I had the surgery to remove. They had to remove my left ovary and left fallopian tube. Luckily, the tumor was benign. Please request additional tests. I wish I had.

This message is for Kayla who did the original post regarding left dull pain in the abdomen along with it being swollen in that area. I am interested in finding out if you ever received a diagnosis? I am a 35 yo female and have those same symptoms for the past 2 months. I've gone for a CT Scan which came back negative and I'm waiting on blood test results which I assume are also normal since it's been a week and I've not heard from the doctor. My stomach is definitely swollen and I also feel nausea after eating. Please post if you received any resolution on your symptoms. Thank you

I have similar symptoms as mentioned, I have been woke from my sleep tonight with a pressure on my left side, which does not seem to get any relief from going to the toilet both ways. I have these symptoms for almost a year now, with the ache moving into my back. have been to gyn and womb and ovaries are fine my urine is clear, I am going for bowel tests soon. This has been the worst year of my life and I feel very isolated. No-one seems to understand how this makes me feel and I am so worried, I am only 35.

Hi I have been suffering with the same type of pain I'm 38 and I am at my wits end. I have pain in the left side from under the ribs to the pelvic area . I have had test after test I have had so many ct ulrasound xray all come back ok. I am now seeking natural medical advise. Inhave been told to have gluten free and no diet drinks that contain aspartain. Also no dairy. I am at the point that I have to try something I can't sit in a chair anymore without massive pain. If it turns out to be the food that I am eating I will be over the moon that is easier to fix than anything else.

I have had similar probs - pain ranging anywhere on my left abdomen - from lower to upper, constipation and back pain. I have just had a scan which indicated I have Gallstones! Strange as I had no pain where the gall bladder actually is! I'm off to the doc for a please explain.

Hi, I'm 17 years old, just turned in December of 2009 and I've been having stomach problems since September of '09. No one really believed me of my stomach problems at all until my mom finally brought me into the doctor and the doctor did her check ups and tests on me, I had to go through several tests throughout October- December and they also sent me to this doctor where they had to put the tube and camera down my throat to figure out 100% what it was, I ended up having H-pylori. It's still not healed and around 12:00-1:00 AM today, I had this really really sharp pain in the left side of my stomach and it hurt me like crazy to breathe yet alone move. The pain went away a little and moved up to my left shoulder, I finally went to the couch and crunched up like a ball and it felt like someone was poking a stick into my left side and hip. After the pain from my shoulder went away it made its way into the middle of my stomach and slowly into my right side right and it feels like it's right where my appendix would be, the pain is still there to this minute and it's 4 minutes till 4 AM, I'm feeling chills everywhere, I feel nauseous, and very shaky. My right side feels swollen and it's hurting really badly, everyone in my family is asleep and I don't know what to do, any ideas or tips or anything to help, please, I'm desperate.. Oh and I just got off my period about 2-3 days ago. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that, and I'm not sexually active either. Please help me..

I am 51 yr old female with severe pain left side in rib area.  The pain is so severe I cannot lie down at all (not left side, not rt side, back or stomach).  I ahve been resting in the recliner for almost 3 weeks. I have had confirmed gallstones.  I had ct scan of liver, kidney, etc all normal.  Normal urine.  Couple of cysts on livery but nothing to worry about.  I just need someone to explain why my left side hurts so severly.  Going today for bone scan and ct scan lungs

I am 27, female. Got of pill this year (6 months ago) since my husband and I wanted to start trying for children. About 6 weeks ago, I started having pain mainly on my left side of abdomin (near ovary), all around my hip, and lower back. It hurts to sit down, walk fast, if someone tapped me on my side, speed bumps, etc. It seems my pain is worse during the week of ovulation and period, but I have had not had one day of no pain since it started. I have seen my gyno twice, primary once, and urologist once...had an ultra sound, catscan, etc but no one can find anything yet and not one seems sure who I should see next. Its so fustrating b/c I want an answer and I want it fixed so I can move on with my life (and get pregnant!). Of course my worse fear is it is something related to infertility, but I try to not think about that. Anyone have any suggestions for me? I know something is wrong and do not want to have to live like this!

I had the same thing had trips to the hospital and finaly theu sent me for another ultrasound..They found a cyst on my ovary and thats why i had so much pain mainly around the time of my period..If it does get any worse you should go back and demand that they keep checking for things because sometimes they miss it the first time
