My father's a GP and refers to my condition as Gastritis. Looking up Gastritis on webmd.co.uk it seems reducing coffee and alcohol intake, and lowering stress levels can help. Seems logical as the pain appears to be an irritation of the lining of the gut, so cutting out the irritants should help.
Interested in the previous post - hot tea after a meal. Will try that.
Hi i have been having the same issue for about 2 years. What i noticed is that the upper stomach pain comes after i go to sleep after a big meal however it takes couple of hours before the pain kicks in, then last for 3 to 6 hours. but what is unusual is that my spine cord inflamates first, so at that point i know that my stomach is going to hurt. Also, i found that when i ate milk or any lacteous with a lot of food before going to bed the probability of stronger pain increases 5 fold. I read that it could be acid that goes into the esophagus while you laydown. The only solution that i found out is to give 2 to 3 hours at least before going to bed. and never have any lacteous products after 5 pm. when i do this there is weeks with no pain but in the first moment that i break this rigourous diet the pain kicks in. SO do not eat for at least 3 hours before going to bed. a chamomille tea with a very little piece of bread or cookie (NO LACTOSE IN IT) will help you with that anxiety of eating late. let me know if it helps.
For 5 months now, Very similar problems as all of you, mostly in middle of night/morning il wake up with loud intestinal noises with bloating, gas. HUNGER all the time. Originally docs tested positive for H pylori. eliminated that with antibiotics NUMEROUS tests including Blood work, ultrasound, endoscopy, small bowel series, colonoscopy. Drs cant find anything!! Very frustrating as im not sleeping well. This all started 5 months ago, basically woke up with it. Thinking maybe parasites or canadia but doctors think not. They will just say IBS. Anyone find any answers?
I have been suffering from this exact condition for 7 years. It all started when I left some natural medicine outside of the fridge which must have fermented with bacteria and I woke up with a belly the size of an 8 month pregnant lady and extreme pain. I have noticed the bloating comes quickly when I lie down within 3 hours after a meal and I also bloat if I allow myself to go hungry for too long. Done all the tests - nothing was found. Doctors have said I have IBS and to take pro-biotics for it - didn't help. Ither doctors have said that I just have a sensitive stomach and I need to relax more.
It is so frustrating because I can't sleep well and I will not have an intimate relationship with a man because I feel so self-conscious.
I find that once I bloat up I have to walk around for about an hour for all the gas to leave my body. It is such an embarrassing and painful condition. I've tried everything, and nothing works.
Some of the symptoms mentioned are similar to my friend's pain. She had surgery about 12 years ago, and recently started having
pain in the lower abdominal area and around her middle and back when she layed down. After MRI's and Ultrasound test, the doctor
determined it was scar tissue from her past surgery. It had attached to her liver. He removed the scar tissue and she is fine.
I have had that exact thing for years - bloating after laying down and bloating if I get hungry. I was recently diagnosed with SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth.). They gave me antibiotics and all the pain and bloating were completely gone for a few weeks. I felt like a whole new person. But then it came back, which is typical. Will have to do more rounds of antibiotics, at the very least. Anyway, there is a simple test for SIBO, ask your doc. Apparently up to 85 % of IBS sufferers actually have this SIBO condition. There is a good book, written by dr. Mark Pimentel.
I've had this same problem for awhile now and doctors could not tell me anything. I finally realized on my own after research and experiments which included a gluten free diet that I have celiac disease. Since celiac damages the lining of the stomach it makes me sensitive to food actually moving through the intestine and when I lie down the food actually stops moving and bundles up at one of the damaged areas. I found out that it really helps to not eat within 4 hours of lying down. It sucks but not eating within 4 hours of lying down gives the food time to move through my intestines and digest. This has been my cure for the pain. please respond with results, comments, or to chat about the issue . All input helps to solve the problem.

hello i seem to have the same symptems that you have i found if you have a mug of warm milk before going to bed it seemed to help big time i hope this helps you have a nice day
I have the same issue, a year and a half ago my life stopped when I stopped sleeping well. Now after a lie down after 3 hours I get bloated and stop sleeping well. I tried taking antibiotics but it didn't help, I've had a test for celiac though from what you're writing here I will try to do the diet. I did a candida test which was positive, and after taking nystatin for two months I saw no improvement so I stopped.
Did anyone manage to sleep vertically or anything?
If anyone has any more ideas PLEASE write to me @ :
