I have the same thing I think. Not overweight but severe pain when bending forward. Mid back spinal pain and left side rib cage pain. I have seen a couple of doctors who all think it is muscular. Hurts all the time.

Yes,yes YES! I've been having this too but mine is much stranger. While lying in bed and I went to roll over on my side, a pain from HELL came from my mid stomach area! And I swore it felt like something was the size of my arm! I kid you not!! And, it also moved and felt like it had shrunk..as the pain faided. I use to suffer from GERD badly but has recovered. But this IS NO GERD!!! I've been to a Dr. About a year ago to find out why I was gaining so much weight. (10bls every other month.) He said that there was nothing that I could do no matter what I tried or what I ate to get this weight off. So he said that due to my total hysto, that I had no more estrogen and was not producing any insulin therefore I would need horomone replacement therapy which he was going to give me with needles 5 times around my navel every month! Well, iv no money and steady getting bigger. Im still wondering how in the world does FAT gives you CRAMPS? I though it came from muscles. hmm. But none the less, I will be sooo glad when I will be able to do something about my weight. especially my stomach. Its very akward at times. I even have to hold my stomach up just to be comfortable. Y'all, please pray for me as I will be praying for US with this problem. Thanks for listening. My fiancé thanks I'm going nuts!!

I am also experiencing similar pain whenever I bend over. It began after I had my second child. I haven't brought it up with my doctor yet

I have been having this for months.  Any time I am sitting and lean forward.  I am taking an art class where we sit on stools at a high table.  This happens often.  I was worried it was my intestines cramping up.  I can feel it moving from left to right, tightening and then loosening.  It's painful, but not unbearable.  I went to my doctor several months ago.  I am overweight and she told me to lose weight and wear dresses.  Yes, I need to find a new doctor.   I did try it, maybe the waist band of my jeans were causing it, but it still happens if I am wearing a dress or a nightgown.  This has been going on for over a year.  Time to go back and demand some attention.

Same problem here, bending over too far or for too long will bring on this cramp/ muscle spasm in my upper abdominal region, right under the breasts. Right side, left side, either side, the pain is terrible. Can't breathe deeply in or out, just have to take shallow breaths and wait for it to pass. it feels like something has popped out of position and as the pain recedes, I can feel it slide back where it belongs. I'm not overweight at all, just diagnosed with reflux, on meds for that, but this problem has been going on for over twenty years. Happening more now than before, not fun at all.

I have this as well. Right dead centre immediately below where my ribcage meets. This started happening to me when I gained weight. I really don't want to go to the doctor. I have started exercising again recently and it hurts beneath my ribs. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Oh my goodness, you are the first person that I have ever "heard" say that it feels like something shifts out of place. I have told my doctor this time and time again. I have, for years, had pains that come on quickly when I either lie on my left side or bend forward. It has always been in the same place, right in the center of my upper belly, right beneath my rib cage. It always feels like something is moving. I have had numerous test and nothing has been found to be abnormal. I have acid reflux and am tired of feeling so terrible. Have you found out anything new?

Hello All.  I'm a 55 year old woman, 5'4'', 215 lbs, recently started exercising and eating better.  Did a "Crossfit" class and felt like something ripped out of my gut in that upper left area.  Sounds a lot like what you all are experiencing.  Is it a hernia?  I don't know.  Really don't want to ask doctor.  just cramps up when I put my sneakers on.  Glad to know that I'm not alone in this pain though.

Oh Man...I found it usefull. This post and after few research I figured cause for my pain.

Ok I am just passed 24,and weighs 63Kg(thin), and I was curious and worried (IT profesional, we sits all time buddy and stomach goes up like my friennds - not all ,okey!) if my belly will show up like a fat boy and I strated a routine that to keep my stomach normal I used to inhale(intake my stomach) so that it wont go out of my control(Even though I am thin ;) ).

I think that is cuasing me a lot to this pain when I bend sometimes for something.

Hell. No one should try it again please. I hope I can get rid of this let me try then...

Thanks, well what happend to Mr.Lightening who posted this originally?

I have same problem. No gerd no indigestion. Just bending over on my left side makes something pop out. I thot it was my rib at first. I had my stomach checked. Its a small hernia, not the type mentioned. This pops out under the last rib. I have to push it back in when i straighten up. Dr said it was up to me on surgery because i just had a hip replacement. So it will be a while. So no tying shoes, clipping nails, washing feet etc haha until i can get it fixed. Ive had this a while and at first i thot it was a loose rib after lung surgery for cancer. LoL. Just something else to fix. :) good luck to you all.

I have the same issue but it usually presents itself when I get in the passenger side of a car (I am tall and I have to bend forward to get in some vehicles) I have been having these for years and straightening up or stretching back alleviates it. I have not seen a Doctor because i am otherwise asymptomatic.

Hello! Haven't seen any recent posts from you. Can you please tell us how everything went? How did your surgery go and did it help? Thanks so much for posting this!
