Hi again, just been doing a bit more research on the internet, there seems to be alot of good things said about Listerine mouthwash (original yellow) for fighting dandruff. One article states that Listerine was originally used to clear dandruff in the early 1900s. Another article says that washing everyday paying more attention to the scalp than hair as this is where the real problem is, then to follow with baby shampoo. Im going to try using baby shampoo after ive washed my hair with the Colgate mouthwash i have in stock and then try Listerine. The only downside i can see with what im currently using is my hair is rather dull and doesnt shine it does however stay dandruff free for up to a week and the dandruff pieces that do appear seem to be less and smaller in size.

Been doing yet more research on the internet, years ago some barbers use to crush 2 asperin tablets and add to normal shampoo to clear dandruff problems, another one i found is using vicks vapour rub and leave in hair for about 30 mins, only problem is it takes along time to rinse away.  Im still sticking to using Colgate mouthwash as it works for me, i have dandruff free hair for at least a week and what dandruff does appear is smaller, it seems to have healed up the 3 head scabs i had and since the new year i have resisted the temptation to pick, yes the mouthwash did sting a bit on the open scabs but i applied ice cubes to the area and this really helped.  At least now i dont fear my hairdresser with her sissors and comb ripping through a scap as that was very painful and embarrassing at the same time.

Hi! I know this is a really really old post, but if anyone still follows it, i also have this weird habit. And i'm really curious, another thing i've found that i do is pick at pretty much anything on my body that can "flake" off or even come off. And like many of you said, i like to see a pile of it. Like, not only do i pick at dandruff. but i'll pick at the dry skin on my hands, on my feet, on my legs. pick at pimples and scabs. I'll pick at and clip my nails and put them in a pile. In the bath, i scratch at my skin so the dry skin comes off, rub off the dry skin behind my ears, and even pick out my ear wax. Sometimes i'll pull at my eye lashes and eye brows. I would think i have trich or something, but it's never been bad enough to interfere with my life. Except for occasionally causing sore skin. Can anyone else who understands the dandruff thing relate to the rest of what i'm saying? I feel so weird and gross for it :(

There is something satisfying about scratching my head and watching the dandruff collect on a surface, I think it's because I think I'm actually helping it in away, like it will reduce the amount produced or something, but I know that isn't true....

I love to see dandruff flakes with a hair shaft stuck through it, i have a favourite black shirt that i place on the table and then i have a good snow shower over it, when ive done i give the shirt a good shake and watch the thousands if flakes fall.

So I'm a 30 y/o female, and i thought i had to totally be the only one that did this. Scratch the scalp with my finger nails, use a mirror & tweezers to scratch at my scalp. When/if it bleeds and i wash my hair I like the burning sensation I get from it.  I also have the habbit of scratching my scalp over my desk and brushing it into a pile and eating the dandruff. I know it's not normal. I've been doing it for as long as i can remember.
