Shame we cant all post photos of our dandruff shed on different surfaces, I have often wondered if Black/Asian people have darker coloured dandruff?? To all dandruff lovers I recommend shaking your dandruff in a dark room and taking a photo of the "snow shower" It will make any photo look like you have captured ghostly orbs.

OMG...I've been scratching dandruff for YEARS!! I thought I was the only "weirdo" in the world who is obsessed with this. I collect mine in a small plastic ziploc baggie and it looks like WEED!! Try it! If I could upload photos I would.

I wish I knew the underlying cause of this obsession. Mine is the cause of extremely dry/flaky scalp. I've tried everything under the sun to treat my dry scalp. My hair is very well taken care of and extremely coarse as well. I'm also a licensed cosmetologist/stylist. I used to scratch and play in my client's hair when they were in my chair. They would pause and wonder what I was doing and I realized it was my obsession taking over. I had to snap out of it.

Yes....mine is dark colored....like brown specs.

Me Too 2016?? Are you a young lady? I would love you to go through my hair looking for dandruff, ( of coarse we could go on and date beforehand if you are single!! I have recently started picking at my scalp and at the time of writing got an open cut from where my hairdresser caught her comb on the nearly healed up scab, this happened this morning and my god did it sting! P.S I did some research regarding dandruff on black/Asian people and the information I got was it is the same regardless. Happy New Year to you, x

I'm pretty sure we aren't in the same city. Anyway, I have no clue what Asian dandruff looks like. I believe it is white instead of brown though. Me is white but turns brown because of the product on my hair so I think it is pretty safe to say everyone typically has white dandruff flakes.

Hi Me Too 2016, I live just outside Bradford in West Yorkshire in England, I am 41 and must take after my dad who is now 66, although mine isn't really noticeable until I shake my hair over a surface, its a good job as I have dark hair! I have found that washing my hair too regularly makes my dandruff worse, ive heard that Soduim Laureth Sulfate which is found in almost all hair shampoos doesn't help ( Google it, its not nice stuff) What is your favourite surface to shake your dandruff on?

Question to Me Too 2016 - its me again, how do you manage not to pick out dandruff in your customers hair? I bet you have seen some bad scalps in your time as a hair dresser? Regards Craig x

Well I am nowhere near England, but I bet you have an awesome accent. I am very familiar with Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or in other words, just 'Sulfates'. As a cosmetologist, I try to stay away from those products with that particular ingredient, and products containing alcohol too. The top 5-6 ingredients on shampoo, conditioner, and any other things we put into or onto our body is what the product contains the most of. There are many shampoos that don't contain either of these ingredients, so one must only seek them out.

Also, one must use the type of products that their hair is starving for. For example, if you have dry hair and scalp like I do, a moisturizing shampoo is best, or an oil-based shampoo. Oil must be somewhere within the first 5-6 ingredients listed on the bottle. If one has oily hair and scalp, a clarifying shampoo is needed to strip oil from the hair and scalp. Another helpful tip is to simply just co-wash your hair with conditioner instead of shampoo. Shampoo should be used only if there is product build-up on your hair, or if your hair and scalp is oily. Not recommended for us "dry heads".

I usually use a white sheet of paper to shake my dandruff on. LOL. I don't know anything better than paper. You can contain it on paper and it doesn't get onto other surfaces. Use 2 or more sheets to make sure to catch all of it. After I'm done I just toss all of it in the trash.

Actually, most scalps I have come across have not been bad. There are only a handful that I can think of who have had bad scalps and it's so hard for me to just bypass a section of dandruff on someone's head when I'm standing over them!

I once had a white female client who had large crystal-like patches of dry scalp. It was something I had never seen before. Her scalp was soooo dry and crusty that when I scratched that section with my comb, the patches broke up and specks of dandruff went astray into other parts of her hair. I even told the client I had an obsession with dandruff and she just laughed. She didn't seem to mind that I took a few minutes to scratch away at her crystallized scalp. I would still be playing in her hair to this day if I could!!

Hi Me Too 2016 again! I love it when I go round to see my dad who is now 66, he has dandruff although to be honest it doesn't seem as bad as when he was younger, it still doesn't stop me going through his hair using a pen to play with the specs of dandruff when he is sat in a chair, my dad keeps saying I should have been a male Nit nurse!! I love to use the point of the pen and break up the base layer of his dandruff that is just waiting to be released from his scalp, its a shame I cant send you photos of my dandruff pieces, I am interested in cars ( very much so!!) and often buy car mags, I love to shake my dandruff onto the photos of the cars in the magazines, I can turn a black car into a black car with loads of "stone chips" ( dandruff), certain coloured cars in the photos hide my dandruff well. You sound like my dream woman, I would let you spend as much time as you wanted playing with my dandruff pieces. ( who needs sex when you have a dandruff obsession to fulfil ??, said in my best West Yorkshire accent! lol x If you are ever in England it would be great if we could meet up, I would take you around Yorkshire`s greatest hair salons!! lol One thing to try and you will love it, shake your hair and do the dandruff snow fall thing in a dark room and take a photo of it, you will see very ghostly orbs... it is brilliant!!

Hi ME too 2016 again, I am interested to how your dandruff specs are brown and not white/grey? I know you said you use products but what and how does it change the colour of the pieces? Many, many years ago I had my hair permed (don't laugh, it was only a light perm) I noticed that I was dandruff free for at least 2 to 3 weeks after, a few years ago I had my hair tinted a little darker and I was dandruff free for well over a week or so, why would this be?? Also when I had the colour on I noticed my scalp felt to be tingling, why would this be? ive got worse over the last week at shaking my dandruff over surfaces since talking to you but it doesn't bother me, as I write the arm on the sofa im sat on is covered with white flecks. I recently found on UTUBE a video of a guy in an office with his mates and they got him to shake his dandruff over a black jacket or similar, it is so funny hearing his workmates laughing at his "snow storm" All you hear is one of his mates saying " oh my god, he has turned the colour from black to white, look at his dandruff!!"

I know the type of flakes you're referring to with braids!! They do make some good thick dry flakes!! The best!

Hi again! My dandruff appears white when I see it on my hair, but is actually brown on paper. It has to be from the products I put on my hair (leave-in conditioner, coconut oil). I would be happy to send photos to you or anybody of some of my specs that I collected in a plastic baggie. Just send me an email address as I would be happy to share. A plastic bag is the best means of collection if you care to keep any of it. I don't actually do anything with it though. I just thought it would be fun to gather a bunch of it up and stare at it for a long time. It looks like broken up pieces of weed in the bag. Im going to see if I can find the YouTube video about this dandruff shaking guy..I bet it's awesome!!
