Hi, my husband just had his gallbladder removed several days ago. Prior to surgery. He was told by a Shaklee salesperson that he needed to take Herba Lax several times a day to clean out his body and that would take care of the pain he was feeling on his right side. Several days later he was in the hospital having his gallbladder removed. Shaklee products are wonderful !! However the products can not take care of every problem you have in your body. Including weight loss .. you have to first find out what is causing the problem. If my husband would have continued with Herba Lax only he would not be with me today. All I can say is be careful when using the Shaklee products and always seek medical attention when needed.

Hi I had surgery 7 days ago. I too have a metal taste in my mouth. I feel 5 months pregnant. I have been walking 3 times a day and it really helped with the gases. Makes me burp alot. I do eat small meals so I don't have the uncomfortable feeling under the ribs.
I had some chocolate the other night and I couldn't sleep all night. A lot of acid was coming up.
Hopefully this is part of recovery and in time we will be fine.
Good luck to you.

I had my lapchole 2/28/2008 and have gained about 50pounds since then. I also have the unpredictable bowel movements, often within minutes of eating. I'm now 44y/o and have just recently started looking into what possible side effects not having a gallbladder can cause. I have always thought that I ate fairly healthy because I'm vegetarian and love my fruits and vegetables, but I am now learning that my cholesterol levels are not ideal and because of the weight gain my BMI is in the level of obese. Prior to having my gallbladder surgery, I had been taking the oral birth control pills Yasmin / Ocella for several years because I have a history of ovarian cancer in my family. I learned that both estrogen and birth control pills can make women more disposed to getting gallstones. I have heard that there is a way to dissolve gallstones, but I don't know exactly what it is - doctors don't usually like to do it because they think if you already have problems with gallstones then you will continue to have problems and it is just easier to take the gallbladder out. But they don't even really ever give you the option to not have surgery and don't tell you about the problems you will have once it's gone. For anyone who has been told that they need to get their gallbladder removed, I would encourage you to research and ask as many questions as you can about other options. I wish I had known a lot more before I got my gallbladder removed, it's obviously there for a good reason and having it gone has made a lot of changes in my health that possibly could have been avoided.

My husband had the 6" cut ( the old way) tried laparoscopic in two areas but unable due to scar tissue. But, it's been almost 5 weeks now and he still has gas, no real appetite and still some pain on right side and back! But he has a bad back with plates/ screws so it's hard to tell what's causing all this...at post op visit he was told he was healing good and no driving or long rides for another 4 weeks..... Is this normal? He is 68 yrs young and is going crazy with this

I just had my gall bladder removed and feeling pain, bloated, and scared due to light colored bowels. You mentioned a digestive enzyme that mimics the gall bladder. Has it helped people and what is it? Do the stools ever get back to normal?
