I too have the same thing. And I keep getting pushed off from doctors too, like it is nothing and has never happened before. The back pain for me is horrible. I honestly think these doctors need to step up and admit that something is happening as a direct result from the epidural and do some research on this. I had to take an early retirement from my job becuase I could no longer preform my job anymore because of this. But yet I keep getting blown off like it is nothing and it doesn't happen and has never happend before.
I gave birth to my son a little over 2 years ago. Sure i had that intial pain after having a baby with an epidural that everyone said would go away they said everyone gets that. Two years later i am on round the clock pain meds just so i can live my life. I time my medicine with when i need to do my chores. This is not the awesome life i invisioned after having my son. I have to plan trips out of town around when i get my pain meds filled. And i havent even thought of how hard it is going to be for me to go back to work. I can barely get out of bed on a good day and i am staying at home with my son now. If i could go back in time i would never have gotten that god-forsaken epidural! please if ur reading this and thinking about an epidural do not get it! Its not the dr and nurses getting it, its you!!
I am a Guy and think all you are going to get worse. Yes that Epidural shot is horrific to say the least. and it is administered in one of the most sensitive spot's in your body next to your brain. Sad thing is you cannot sue because the made you sign a consent form. The best plan of action now is to find a natural cure to combat the epidural itself if their is such a thing? and tell everyone you know not to get that chronic hell shot!
:-( So this is how it's going to be... I went to give birth naturally but as I was in labor I became week and gave into getting the epi-shot. The epi-tech was behind me and my husband and nurse holding me from the front while I'm having contractions she says arch your back, almost impossible. So when she stuck the needle in a shooting pain went up my spine. Then she did this three more times. Twice on either side of my lower spine. Each time I cried louder in excruciating pain. My husband hadn't heard me act like this even with the contractions, and he said by the look on the woman's face who gave me the shot she too was scared by my sudden discomfort. Now my daughter is 8mo. And I still have this same pain slowing me down. I too was told by my dr. That this shall pass not to worry. I'm doing physical therapy now and it's just another aggravation to my already crazy schedule. Now I'm looking for advise and I found this list of woman telling the similar story I have been. So am I to believe that just because I signed a paper at my most vulnerable time in life that I'm supposed to deal with someone who is careless when in a position to give these epidurals on a daily scale. Did she have a bad day and forget how to do it right on the first try. I'm twenty eight and can't even lift my first child without almost dropping her. I wish I never got the epidural now I'm sick of being week and feeling like someone put a knife in my back, literally!
I had an epidural during my labor which ended up relieving only about 5 mins of pain because my baby was on the way out by the time the anesthesiologist got to me and he told me not to 'push' as he did the epidural.. yeah right...well all i can say is that I had back pain in the area of the epidural ever since and still 15 yrs later I am now getting x-rays because of pinched nerves. If I had to choose over again its an obvious 'hell no'..I am not sure I would say that if my labor had been any longer than 6 hours tho.. the drug did feel nice.. even tho in my case it only lasted about 5 mins..
:'( I've had an epidural 15 months ago because it was strongly suggested to me and i wasnt having the easiest labor... bad choice ... I believe something went horribly wrong my whole body like went into a spasm of pain and it wasn't "even in" once done again after crying and shaking ... I've been having severe lower back pain at the injection site ... when I have it I walk hunched and it lasts days... while even sitting its terribly uncomfortable ... I'm going to further look into this ... good luck
Elidalyzz couldn't have said it better
i also had an epidural for both my children; i wasn't dilating more than 3cm so i had to have c-sections. i know have sharp pains in my lower back and i said to myself it feels like it did when i got the epidural, my children are 3 and q and only after the second one did i start getting these pains. its like i freexe i cant make no sudden moves i have to stand in one spot and wait for the pain to go away sometimes its so bad i have tears rolling down my eyes.
I had my first daughter with epidural 26 years ago, I had pain in the epidural site after that but did not pay attention to it. I had twins 6 years later and had another epidural, the pain became worse in the area for years after that. I have fluid on the spine now and have for at least 10 years, and pain every day in and around the areas that I had the injections. I may be the oldest case on this site, but I wanted to add my testimony about epidurals because I have talked to many women for the past 25 years and they all complain of the same pain. This is a procedure that continues to ruin backs and in used every day. PLEASE IF THERE IS AN ATTORNEY WHO COULD DO ANYTHING PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME. This practice is wrong.
i ah my boy in november and i also had the epidural i am suffering chronic backpains from this so much i wake up in the middle of the night and can NOT go back to sleep thru shea pain it is killin me
You have to make a decision for yourself. Just as every child is different, so is every labor and delivery. I knew going in that I wanted an epidural but my beliefs were reinforced when I started in with excruciating back pain. The doctor said that my uterus was contracting off the chart and I could only feel that pain in my back, which can only be described as someone snapping your spine in two. I could not feel the epidural being administered, in fact the only uncomfortable part about it was curling around my belly to get it. I have had a dull ache in the location of the epidural for the past 3 months since my delivery. But I can clearly remember the back labor, and the small ache (to me) is worth it to not have suffered one more second with back labor. I will definately choose an epidural the next time around. I have no horror stories from labor and delivery after the epidural I really enjoyed the experience.
I know these are old posts; but i can relate. I had my son 4 years ago; and as soon as they stuck the needle in, my whole lower half went instantly numb. They made me sleep with it in cus the anesthesiologist was asleep; so 12 hours later when they finally took it out; i still couldn't feel my legs. When it was day 2 and time to go home i couldn't because i still didn't have all the feeling in my legs to walk. Ever since that when i bend forward i get a burning sensation down my spine starting right where they did the epidural. I have severe chronic lower back pain to the point that it brings me to tears. I cannot go on long car rides as the pain from sitting too long hurts so bad. Nothing makes it better, standing, walking, laying, sitting nothing. Then i started realizing about 2 years ago that i would lose feeling and sensation in both of my legs at the same time; they become so weak i need to sit down immediately or i will fall. After many doctors telling me theres nothing wrong and i should exercise more; i've finaly found a dr who is concerned with my symptoms. I did 12 weeks PT, took almost every pain killer available and nothing helps. I had an xray done and it showed that my lumpar spine where it meets at the butt bone goes IN at a 90 degree angle. I literally have to push my hips all the way forward for my back to get remotely close to being straigt. Now finally after 4 years; she is sending me to get an MRI as she thinks when they gave me my epidural that they went into a nerve. Hopefully i will get some answers. Don't let any Dr tell you that epidurals are not the cause of lower back pain and other problems becasue they are. Why else would they make you sign a consent form telling you the risks of getting it? Keep searching until you find a Dr that satisfys your concerns and helps you get some relief for your pain and suffering.
Hi I was wondering if you have gotton any answers? I am dealing with backpain after a epidural too. I have been to many doctors and they all try to say that it isnt related to the epidural. I have a very bad burning sensation when I bend over. and horrible back pain..
I am experiencing a lot of the same symptoms as you. Have you gotton any answers?
