I know for a fact that I was affected negatively by the epidural during the delivery of my last child. I would be interested to hear more about your story. I am going to conduct research on this matter. Please contact me via face book if you would like to help in this endeavor. Thanks

My back isn't numb but I do get sharp pains how long ago did u have it

It can be caused by the epidural but there is also the fact in childbirth you are using muscles your body is not used to using. Either way there are many exercises you can do to help and relax the muscles, walking also helps in moderation.

Yes. I think the doctor also gave me the shot wrong, for I experienced difficulty breathing, and it affected my baby at birthing, she was blue when she was delivered. I still to this day have pain in the area that they gave me the shot, and it's been many, many years since I had it.

I have slight lower back pain because of my epidural. It feels like a pinched nerve because of how the injected area affects the nerves.

I have two kids. I took epidural for both kids. I dont have any sideeffects for first kid no backpain . But for second kid i am having back pain everyday. I am very healthy person now i am facing backpain. when i decided to go for epidural during delivery they gave too much epidural .. i couldn't even move my legs that much they gave. I feel thats why i am getting backpain. Depends on how much they will give epidural. For first kid they dint give that much so i dint have any problems.

U would like to know more . I got my first episode 6 months after having my son . 2 or 3 times a year after that . I can't move , bend , stand or walk when it happens . The back attacks .. I have lost jobs because of many absents or simply because they didn't want to risk me blaming my back problems on the job . I am at the hospital as i write with my mother with her back attack . It's funny to hear the Docs blame it on everything but the epidural . I mentioned my thoughts to the Doc and he laughed , said it was crazy talk and got defensive after . Asking if i have spoke to scientist and when i tried to respond he said he didn't need this attitude . Just by the way he reacted i am sure he has heard a little to much of this "crazy talk ".

I read your reply and can almost mirror what you have said. I too have had constant back problems since having the epidural. It comes and goes. When it does go off I am limited to things that I can do. Since being able to walk, I've been really active, sports mad and a professional dancer. I too had a long labour and gas/air and pain relief was given. I was so tired and really had no strength to push. Before I knew it, I was given the epidural in my L4, no words of pro's and cons, side effects etc and didnt sign any forms for this to be administered. Being my first labour and never hearing about the possible back probs connected to epidural, I just said and done nothing. Since then the back niggles have got worse. I try and stay as active as I can, but cant do anything to the level in which I could. I am only 40 and some days feel like I'm 100.

I just had my baby in Jan 2012 by emergency c-section and boy am I paying for it now.. I've never experienced a pain like this before. Slaving for a busy weekend for a family reunion is not even close to the pain. It's only on my low back and on my spine.. So much for the help now I'm struggling to work and be a mother. Also, it was my first epidural out of all my kids.
