Yes. I happen to be looking for someone who have gotten help so I can get some. I had 4 kids and all epidurals. My last was 5yrs ago and my back feels as if the epidural is still in my back and on fire. I keep having to crack my back and somethimes it doesn't even help. I pray that I don't become paralyzed in the long run from this or no other worse results. I would advise you not to get it for you and ur baby sake. You want to be able to enjoy ur baby for as long as we are allowed in life. I am not getting that opportunity. I am forever taking pain meds and sleeping when I am not working and hurting while working. If you have any good information on what I can do if you find out anything,

Drs will tell you there is no risk. Anesthesiologist make a lot of money from the procedure and it makes everything easier for the delivery staff. Don't do it. It's not worth it unless you have a c section. Better to get Demerol if you must have pain control. I had disabling pain for 10 years and just got spinal surgery. The drs will try to convince you there is no risk but many people are mildly allergic to the anesthesia and it deteriorates the disks in your spine prematurely. Buck up and have your baby the way women have had babies for who knows how long. Totally not worth the risk.

I am older then most of you posting but not too old that Epidurals where not used yet. I DID have two Epi'ies and I have had pain since the first one. I did not realize that the pain was there from the Ep'ie after the first one. I also have fluid on my spine. Opp's where did that come from. Degenerative Disk Disease T 7&8 pain all the time, now in my early 50's it is very hard to go through the day and continue on I have to take many breaks. But like most of you say the Doc's, say No, it can't be that Epie, then they ask have you had any injuries, accidents, I say Yes, the Epidural.

Money! that is the issue.

I have experienced back pain since the epidural with my second son in 2000.  It has come and gone as a dull ache in my lower back gradually getting worse over the years.  Xrays have just showed a bone in my spine is about half the width it should be in that very spot.  I have had no traumas or accidents, and I know the pain started as I recovered from child birth.  No one will tell you the truth so get the facts for yourself!

After 3 (different childrern) epidurals and the last one in 2010 was like some of the other posts, they stuck me in the back 4 or 5 times and I actually felt the needle hit my spine o.O. I thought I was gonna die, and now I'm pregnant with my 4th and having severe lower back/ spinal pain. Its like someone is stabbing me in the back. Now I am in the process of looking for a good neurologist because I am convinced that there is some kind of nerve damage and of course many doctors including my Obgyn think that I over exaggerating the pain and pretty much is trying to chalk it up to round ligament pain. But I will hopefully soon get some answers, If you have lower back pain after an epidural you need to consult with a neurologist and get the answers that your doc isnt giving you.

I am going to conduct research on this matter. Please contact me via face book if you would like to help in this endeavor. Thanks

I suffer sever headaches and back pain that started after the birth of my only child 12 years ago, where I did have an epidermal. Just had a co-worker mention to me some research she has read on the connection between epidermals and long-term back pain. My symptoms sound similar to the many stories here -and the only common thing I can see is that it occurs at the time of my menses. NO doctor has ever addressed this seriously. Its incapacitating pain for a week and soreness for another week along with great weakness. I was surprised to find nothing on internet searches.

I have the same popping and clicking in my lower back...back pain all the time starts in my lower back and goes up my spine to the back of my neck. I have had two epidurals my daughter is almost 5 and my son who is 19 months. With both of my children they had to move up vertibres because they couldn't get it in the first two spot they tried. With my daughter once the tube was in they had to move it around because only one side of my body was numb and when he moved it something felt weird in my back. With my son I got what they call a "hot spot" a spotbtween my pelvic bone and hip was not numb but the rest of me was so I felt every contraction hard as heck. If I could redo my deliveries I would 100 percent go natural. My cousin said the worst part was the crowning. Use the shower excerise ball, tube, walking, rocking the hips...to help ease contractions it works! I made it to an 8 with my son but having my mom in their laughing and saying just get the epidural u won't be able to handle the pain....I just gave in bc going through labor and hearing that was too hard to deal with and concentrate on getting through the pain. I wish I knew what the popping and clicking noise was from, but my doc doesn't believe me either.

I EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. WHEN I GAVE BIRTH TO MY SON 2YRS AND 3 MOS NOW, I EXPERIENCED BACK PAIN A YEAR AGO, AND THE DOCTOR JUST TOLD ME WHEN I ASK FOR A CONSULT THAT IT DOESNT RELATION TO ANESTHESIA. SHE JUST TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE A GOOD BODY MECHANICS ESPECIALLY CARRYING MY BBY FOR A LONGER TIME. SHE JUST ADVISED ME TO REST IN BETWEEN CARRYING MY BABY. SO I JUST DONE WHAT SHE TOLD ME. BUT ONCE IN AWHILE I EXPERINCED EXRUCIATING PAIN AND I DIDNT TAKE ANY MEDICATION BECUASE IT'S JUST TOLERABLE. BUT JUST RECENTLY, MAYBE A MONTH AGO I EXPERIENCED A PAIN ON MY RIGHT LOWER EXTREMITIES FROM MY KNEE DOWN MY LEG. IT'S EXCRUTIATING AND IT SEEMM I HAVE MUSCLE WASTING. I HAD IN DOUBT IF I LACK CALCIUM OR PHOSPHOROUS IN MY BODY AND I AM CONFUSED WHAT TO TAKE. AND I AM THINKING MAYBE I GOT AN ARTHRITIS BUT IT'S KINDA EARLY FOR MY AGE SINCE I AM ONLY 26 YRS OLD AND I JUST GAVE BIRTH ONCE. BUT I INTERVIEWED WHO HAVE HAD A C-SEC AND THEY CONFESS THAT SAME PROBLEM. AND ALSO I OBSERVED IM VERY FORGETFUL AND JUST THIS YEAR MY X-RAY REVEAL I GOT MILD SCOLIOSIS. BUT I KNEW BEFORE I HAD THE EPIDURAL I GOT NONE.

16 years ago I had epidural shot up through my spinal because I had to have c-section for my first baby. I had complications because every time I had contractions, my baby's heart would slow down so they pushed me to ER and performed c-section which is the reason why epidural was used. They warned me though that I would be having back pains as I grow older. All my 3 kids after the first one was delivered naturally though and my last baby is now 8 years old. Now, I'm having the worst lower back pain ever! I would agree with your friend, unless, it's a serious situation like mine.

I believe you. I had an epidural with my 3rd child. That was over 10 yrs ago. I still have back pain. I wish I would've read all of these comments yrs ago. I would of avoided the injection. My back pops and clicks at times too.

I have the same exact problem. Mine isn't excruciating though. I had an epidural over 10 years ago and I still suffer from back pain. I am sorry you and I are both going through this.

It was great during delivery BUT It's been 8 years now and I experience severe back pain still. I would suggest trying without it first and you can always change your mind if the pain becomes unmanageable. If I would have known I'd be in this much pain now years later I NEVER would have got one.

I gave birth to my son 10 years ago, and my back has felt frozen and stiff in the exact spot they administered the epidural. I just came from the doctors in fact and she said I have muscle spasms in that area. I never had any issues with my back ever before. I wake up stiff, cant sit for a long period of time and there is a constant burning "sensation" in my lower back at the site. My mid-wife's assistant totally didn't help me when she pushed my legs so far back behind my head for ours that I felt like a human pretzel. She may have damaged my back, no she definately damaged my back!!!
