I 100% agree with this as i had a epidural 22 yrs ago with my first and now gettting the sharp pain discomfort i rub the area where it was administted exruciating pain to say the least, unbearable i mainly suffer from it while laying down its that bad it wakes me up and i have to get up, Now regretting ever having it.
The pain only occur when the epidural is not given in a very hygienic and clean environment. The infection spreads which lead to the backbone. Otherwise there is only two side effects of epidural i.e. itching and dryness on the skin which may or may not happen to anyone. If itching happens doctors gave medicine at that time. And dryness get with a time.
I AGREE TOTALLY WITH YOU. AFTER MY EPIDURAL, I COULD NOT LAY FLAT ON THE FLOOR WITH OUT PAIN SO BAD IT TOOK MY BREATH AWAY. I NEEDED HELP JUST TO TURN OVER IN BED. AND NOW 13 YEARS LATER I HAVE REAL BAD SHOOTING PAINS IN MY LEGS AND IT ALL BEGAN AFTER MY EPIDURAL. ALOT OF DOCTORS WANT BE TRUTHFUL BECAUSE THEY KNOW ITS A REAL PROBLEM AND THEY CANT DEAL WITH IT. NOT ENOUGHT DOCS TO GO AROUND. SOME JUST DONT CARE THATS WHAT I EXPERIENCED . HATE IT. AS OF NOW I CANT EVEN WALK UPRIGHT WITHOUT HAVING PAIN IN MY LEGS. ITS CRAZY. WISHE THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE DONE
My son was born 9yrs ago and I have like many of you suffered the back pain and headaches. I had to leave work due to many missed days from pain. It is a sharp pain in that same spot. I've told docs I think pain is from that, but they have ignored me I've stopped trying to tell them and just suffer. They answer you like your crazy to even say that pain is from that. I'm at a loss, I wish I know how or where to go to find some relief. So that I could enjoy time with my kids and do fun things, instead of pain. I never had headaches or back pain prior to tHat birth.
I"m so sorry you're going through that! Mine isn't sharp pain but it's more of a dull lower back pain. See if you can find a doctor that will do testing or MRI.. Change doctors, be persistent! Best of luck.

i can only tell you that I had one when I delivered my son 9 years ago, and the pain just has gotten worse. A lot of the time when I am sitting down for no more then 15 min- when I stand up my lower back starts to burn and gets BAD pins and needles, my legs go weak and a few times have given out on me,(once when i was breast feeding) and when that happens I go straigt to the floor...
i had epidural in 2011 with my 1st baby & i only started feeling sharp back pain on my spine this year.
HI,
I'm from Kerry in Ireland, four years ago I tried 3x injections hoping to help my sciatica, Epidural, facit joint and Nerve block, during the nerve block they put the needle in to far and pain was mental, its made my sciatica 100x times worse, was never on opiates before, now I cant function without them, the quack damaged a nerve. When i called to see him seeking help he told me it was all in my head and that i was never to return. It was only then I realized why everytime I called before his sec would look through a peep hole, pull back bolts on door and let me in, it was to keep out others who he had also damaged! before injections I was on ordinary pain killers, now I'm on Oxycontin, Nuerontin, Prothieden, Difene, Lidocaine patches etc, every day just to get out of bed and look after kids, cant hold down a job anymore. That bastard has put me in a living hell of 24 hours of pain seven days a week.
Pain wakes me up many nights, I get night sweats, my muscles jump at times, i have constant burning sensation in both feet and numb left leg with electric shock type pains in hands at times, no sex, no work, no hobbies, no money, depression comes and goes, I really feel like running the fu%£%er over so he ends up the same way, in the UK the NHS have stopped funding epidurals for lower back pain, a year before I got mine. Its ment so much to me to read other peoples stories.
In pain, wish you all well and recovery.
My daughter is 3 years old now and I have had nothing but problems with my back since having her AND of course the epidural. Right now I am in absolute agony. Been going to the chiropractor but it has not helped in the least. Muscle relaxants and pain pills don't help either. At the same time, my labour was really bad and I don't know how I would have gotten through it without an epidural. It really is a tough decision.
Hello, I have such a horror story, after being stuck in my back in access to 10-13 times all in one sitting. I was in labor 10 yrs ago with my son when I was stuck in my back all those times only for them not to be able to administer the epidural. I had to have him natural with only numbing cream. Now I am forever scarred with the marks on my back and severe back pain. Sometimes it gets to the point where I cant move. Doctors can only give me medicine at this point. They wanted to run test and have surgeries planned but they are so high risk, I rather just live with the pain.
I had my son in 2011. A student nurse stuck me in the wrong spot and then the head doctor put the epidural in properly. I have gone to chiropractors, doctors and physical therapists and my back still hurts. I am dependent on medicines and this is ridiculous. What information does anyone have on medical malpractice or lawsuits?
My wife took epidural during both the deliveries and has no complications at all. After delivery one may experience back soreness at the catheter site where the medication was injected, but epidural analgesia during labor does not cause any chronic back problem.Instead, the backache if any, developed because mothers receiving epidural analgesia were less sensitive to back stressing postures and hence allowed the poor back position to remain for prolonged periods.resulting in back strains post delivery.Another reason could be the trauma to the back muscles and ligaments during insertion of the epidural needle at the catheter site. However, this is relatively uncommon and usually pain is short term.
yes, I have back pains five years after the birth of my daughter. i had physiotherapist massage, exercise
and yoga but nothing helps.
