I have the same problem but I am only 16/17 in a month, could it be something to do with smoking as I've been smoking for quite a few years and this started happening over a year ago and it's the worst when I only just wake up I find it hard to sit up in bed etc. I click my back quite a lot too and mine is really bad in my lower back. I always thought that I wouldn't need to go and see a doctor, that it would just go away, but after reading some of the responses I think I do need to go and see a doctor if people are being prescribed antibiotics.

hey

ive been having these really sharp back pain (upper right) when i breath in and also chest pain. dr. said it was plureisy and gave me naproxen but it doesnt seem to help. had chest x ray and blood tests (all clear) but it still hurts (btw im 14). since doctors cant find the problem and pain is getting worse im really worried. (btw dr. said have a ct scan but didnt go through it cause radiographer said they wouldnt find anything and it could be risky since im so young with all the radiation going through.)

I have severe discomfort in my back when I inhale deeply and extreme discomfort when attempting to sleep on my side, back or stomach. I do not have as much discomfort in an upright sitting or standing position unless I breathe. I am not sure what it may be.

I know that you posted this over a year ago, however I am experiencing the exact same thing, last night it really scared me because I couldn't move and I could only take shallow breaths. I have had this pain in my back for about 4 mths now and it has gotten so bad that it's now moving into my right side too.and now its unbareable. My Dr. has me on pneumonia meds, cause i have had it three times before, with the last time landing me in the hospital for a week on a ventalator. Can you please tell me what was your outcome? Thank you

What is described here is very obviously lung inflammation caused by infection. I have cystic fibrosis so this is a very well known thing to me and there is no doubt about what causes it.

You say the pain got worst. Some antibiotics (fluoroquinolones) can cause huge tendon/nerve pain/damage that can be permanent. If that's what your doctor gave you (Cipro, Levaquin, other...). Throw that sh*t away and get a new doctor.
(Fluoroquinolones are dangerous sh*t that should be given to you ONLY when everything else fails and you are afflicted by a life-threatening infection. Fluoroquinolones are toxic to the body and they are VERY risky. Many people get disabled (permanent nerve and tendon damage, neuropathy, etc) from taking this sh*t.)

You should have taken the anti-inflammatory your doc gave you because that pain IS caused by inflammation in your lung.

Hey guys, yesterday I got this same problem. A kind of sharp pain when I took a deep breath on my back on the right side, right below my rib cage. I looked on the internet and found TONS of people with this. Though I don't know what everyone has, or what the full problem is, I can tell you what did help me - a very quick stretch

Stretching is experimental, you basically want to TRY and stretch that specific place on your back, the best stretch that seemed to work immediatelly for me, was grabbing the top of an open door with my hand, and then letting my weight drop slowly so that I was pulling down on the door. Left side of your body should drop, while the right side stays higher. You should feel a stretch extending from the top right half of your rib case, to basically exactly where the pain is.

This literally cured me. I am going to continue to look into it and report back if anything changes / comes back. Take care.

I am 54, male , overweight non smoker, non drinker. over a month ago I had a bad cold and cough. The cough at one point caused my intestines to bulge out from the middle of my stomach. a week or so after that I started experiencing pain on my left side under my rib cage, especially when I took a deep breath... .after a week of this pain , last night it moved to my lower left back area under my rib cage. I noticed it when I tried to take a deep breath... I do lift heavy things that I should not do.. No other symptoms.. No nausea, no bowel issues, normal appetite, no blood, amd not painful to the touch really.. I haven't been to a doctor yet.. Any suggestions?,
