I have been spotting now for almost 3 weeks - i simply chalked it up as 'odd' since this occurred after my 1st period since giving birth to my son in Sept. I went to the DR to have it checked out and (surprise) I tested positive for pregnancy. The next day i had a US and due to my levels and size of sac they say i am about 4 weeks - interesting because 4 weeks ago i was on my period. I am going back in for blood tests today and will find out where my levels are tomorrow. The spotting was primarily brown, but this morning after waking up, there was a decent amount with ash-like flakes of red/brown blood. I believe this spotting is an indication of miscarriage. I wish there were more posts on what is going on - i hate the waiting game and would just like to know if i am or am not having a miscarriage.

I have had three miscarriages and whenever I have had these - the clot is a bad sign. But... - you need to get to the doctor as soon as possible. When I had clots the doctors said - that it could be that I had a twin and it died . The didn't want to do a curette or anything like that because they were afraid that if there was a second child - they would kill it when it should go full term anyway. At no stage so far has a clot been good though - this has always led to me fully miscarrying.

Thats not exactly true about red blood . My sister has 4 amazing healthy children and bled with 2 of them.(heavy peroid bleeding). Every woman is different. Im not saying not to check with your Dr. if tis happens, but dont have a complete heart attack BEFORE you check with your Dr. Some women DO bleed and actually have full term healthy children.

Hi there, T am 25 and have recently had the same problem. Am 5/6 wks pregnant, only found out Sunday through prgnancy test which again came out positive very quick. Have had bleeding and cramps since previous Friday and bleeding (red/brown) every day since.

I went to the doctors and insited on a scan as I was sooo worried as I knew bleeding and cramps were not always normal. He sent me to the early pregancy clinic where I had to have an internal scan...the results were inconclusive, there was a sight of a blob which could have been the sac for the baby to grow, or if it was blood she said I may have miscarried or allready have, but the nurse said to be optimistic as I wasn't far enough into my pregnancy for a clear picture due to my cycle in progress. I now have to wait for another two weeks for another scan, I am still looking after myself, but have prepared myself for the worse.

Me and my partner are just looking at it like I've just come off the pill and my body may not be ready to carry yet. At least I'm not too far gone that the foetus has allready grown to a fully developed baby!

If you are bleeding at anytime during your pregnancy you should see your Md. I started lightly bleeding when I found out I was pregnant, at about 5 weeks. The bleeding was light and inconsistent but I did pass 2 bright red blood clots between week 5 and 9. I miscarried into week 9. You may need to be firm with your Md about what type of treatment you want to figure out if you are in the process of a miscarriage. My Md was quick to play it off and we had a false sense of hope that all would be well. I miscarried the next day.

Last night I ended up in the ER because I suddenly felt warm water coming down. I am 12 weeks pregnant and I passed a very big clot that looked like a small piece of liver and was bleeding very heavily. They did a vaginal ultrasound and a sonogram and could not find where the bleeding was coming from. How can this be? They said the baby was fine and the blood tests were fine and they could find no indication of where the origin was coming from eventhough I kept bleeding. No I am bleeding a little less, like a period but I am worried. Anyone out there has gone through this?

:-( I am 5.4 weeks pregnant. Last Friday I went to the ER with bleeding. It was not a whole lot...just when I would wipe. They ran tests and told me that it might be implantation bleeding or a threatened miscarriage. They told me the tests they did were all great. I did not get a sonogram because they said the baby was too small to see anyway. Saturday, had menstral like cramps and red blood. I have had some small dark clots. Again, I am not bleeding enough to need a pad and it is only noticable when I go to the bathroom. I contacted the doctor on call and he told me I probably had a miscarriage. I was told two different things. It is Sunday and the bleeding is less and less throughout the day. Still a little crampy. I am getting false hopes from the ER or Misinformation from the doctor. I am going back to my doctor tomorrow. I just was wondering if anyone could give me hope or tell me what they think is going on since none of the "professionals" seem to know. Thanks

*I too am having some bleeding during my pregnancy. I am 8 weeks along, and have been bleeding and passing small clots, and I've had my doctor check me out. She said there is a lot of blood flow to the female productive area, and my bleeding was coming from my cervix. The bleeding stops after an hour or 2, and then I have no more bleeding for about a week. This past weekend I passed a very large clot (the size of my palm) but I feel no cramping, and no pain what so ever, and I will find out what is going on tomorrow when I have my visit with my doctor.

ok..i have a history of bleeding during this pregancy - espceially after intercourse. Last time is was alot of red blood - no clots or cramps. I went to the ER just to be sure and everything was normal and there was no explaination at all. Then yesterday the same situatoin happened with the bleeding except it was more blood. and it was RED and very heavy bleeding -[like watery blood though]- again, no cramps, clots, pain or anything just alot of blood. i didnt go to the ER because last time it was nothing and i have an ultrasound scheduled in 12 days so im thinkin i should just wait it out. Let me know what you think or what you would do.

To maybe shine some answers at someone who may read this and need the advice, i had a miscarriage back in March. Bleeding was a redish color with specks of dark brown clotting. The clots weren't big at all, just small flakes. Eventually i passed a greyish colored clot, which, of course, meant i had a miscarriage.

Anytime you pass a rather large clot that is gray, maybe a lil whiteish, with blood on it, you should go to the doctor to get checked. Usually a clot consisting of gray material isn't a good sign.

Also, for those of you with cramping, some cramping is completly normal in pregnancy. Although, the cramps should not be painful (like a menstral cramp) but there will most likely be some sort of "pressure" in the abdomen area. I have had this for a few weeks now, and my doctor told me this is completly normal. It is just you being totally in tune with your body, and feeling the changes it is going through.

Also, not all bleeding means danger. Just yesterday i was bleeding (i am about 6 weeks pregnant) but everything turned out fine. In any case, if you have any bleeding at all during your pregnancy, the best advice anyone can give you is to see a doctor as soon as you possibly can to make sure everything is ok.

I was bleeding off and on and thought it was my cyst. I went to the doctor and she gave me the news that i was 8 weeks pregnant. She told me that i was high risk and I could lose her. She restricted what I could lift. As it turns out I was over dueing things. I did what she told me to do even though it sucked I did as she said. After the first timester she was fine and the bleeding stopped. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl who is now six.

As for bleeding after sex, it could be too rough. Or you may need to talk to your doctor. I had that problem with my son. It could also be a sign that something is wrong. I had a soft cervix with him and developed pre-eclampsia. He was delivered at 31 weeks. Also healthy. We were lucky.

I am a 28yr old and am 2mths pregnant. I had a miscarriage Sept. 2006 at 10 wks. I was spotting in the beginning, light flow, but redish brown, then continued to be a dark brown and a bit heavier. I had started at 8 wks, and then progressed to the 10wks. I was seeing my doctor regularly and they kept doing hormone tests to see if the hormone levels were increasing. They do this to see if the baby is still growing. Anyway, in the end at 10wks I miscarried. I am on this website now because I am reading about my current pregnancy. I am 8wks and spotting very, very lightly and light brown. I have read that this can be because the cervix is closing and any blood not needed to surround the fetus is being discharged. I am resting, and feel much more confident this time. I understand why other women getting the same symtoms would be alarmed, thats why I am writing this. I think, that light spotting is normal, and rest and stay away from sexual intercourse until the symtoms have gone away. But as for my last miscariage, you will know if you are having one. Very heavy bleeding, worst than your period, and cramping. And i had a D&C and you are able to get pregnant again. Good luck to you all who have these symptoms, but you are not alone. Be hopeful, because your baby can feel what you feel. Take Care
