I have the same issue, it has become worse since I gained over 90 pounds with my first child. Nothing I do seems to help. Baby powder does help with the rubbing and sweating, but I too have no idea how to battle it, other than losing weight. MY doctor told me to use maxi pads there during the day to prevent rubbing and sweating, however I dont want to do that. I used to use neutrogena body wash, exfoliating, and it helped a little bit. Sorry youre going through it, its rough. Mine keep bursting open, which really sucks. Theyre painful and annoying, I dont take many baths cause I dont have time, but my dr also suggested taking warm baths with dove soap. Good luck. PS Ive been to the dermatologist, and they said its mostly from being overweight.

I have had the same thing for years now. I am fifteen and in the obese category. I believe the infection started from my stomach rubbing against my pants button or belt buckle. A while back I was perscribed prednasone for fulliculitis in my pubic area (another horrible embarrassing topic for another day). I finished the antibiotics and everything cleared up for a few months. The fulliculitis, the boils under my stomach fold, and what little acne I have on my face. Well months after finishing the regimine, its all back and its starting to piss me off (pardon) I want a final solution to this.

Staph is absolutely NOT a fungus. It is a common bacterium. It is not treatable with antifungals. There is no way to be certain it's a staph infection without culturing it.

I've had these for years and tried various treatments without success. I am overweight and my weight fluctuates high then low. I have many health issues and 2 years ago, was told I was pre diabetic. I went on a diet immediately however, I focused on a sugar free diet specifically. Much to my surprise the bumps and boils cleared up and did not appear very often. Since then I have continued my low sugar diet but as with any diet (and a sweet tooth !) I give in to temptation and the sugar fix involves a huge portion of cakes, chocolate and lolly pops ! The boils on my tummy and around my thighs go bump in the night, big time. It's amazing how such a little bump can be so painful ! Anyway , reducing sugar intake, ie sweeteners in tea and coffee etc has definately helped me control the outbreaks. Happy munching !!

I'm 14 and overweight, and I have something sorta like that on my stomach. Its like big and I popped it and blood came out. I wear my pants a bit lower than my bellybutton and its just there. I'm thinking about putting some acne creme on it or cleaning it with alcohol. But I'm not sure if it is a good idea?

I saw a post earlier about hidradenitis suppurativa.  I would highly suggest that ALL of you look that up.  Hidradenitis suppurativa is an AUTOIMMUNE disorder and has been known to be coupled with both Crohns and both celiac and non-celiac gluten intolerance.  By the way, the reason so many of us are overweight is due to Leaky Gut....i.e. what we eat is not properly broken down, so is absorbed into our bloodstream in bigger parts than it should be.  I found out a year ago about my border-line celiac status, with that said, I am still rejecting numerous foods and these damned boils are still on my belly and between my thighs...at least it is the ones on my belly that opt to sometimes shoot out blood ewww.  What I have noticed is that whenever I am taking a steroid (prednisone last year for pneumonia, solumedrol two months ago for achilles tendonitis), my rash heals or at least improves, yet within a couple of weeks after coming off the steroid, the bumps and boils come back.  By contrast, antibiotics NEVER work.  If a steroid helps heal a particular area but an antibiotic will not, that is the calling card of an inflammatory process of a most likely autoimmune disease such as hidradenitis suppurativa.

Sounds like fungal sinusitis and itraconazale helps. Mayo clinic knows of this where antibiotics dont work. Or work but then rebound infection. They did a study many Years ago. Custom Med in indianapolis can make this compound medicine into a nasal spray too

i am almost 100% sure this guy is right... only problem is.. my dr says the only option is to lance the area and hope it doesnt track... there has to be a way to draw out the infection, and get rid of that smell.. even when the site isnt inflamed it still has that putrid smell if you rub your fringer across it :(

So I have this too and I saw a specialist for the problem and he informed that yes it is a form of staph but mine was not the common strain that responds to antibiotics. These boils do form where there is more fatty tissue but are not directly caused by fat. Mine are MERSA sores and I carry staph in my sinuses too.  If I was exposed to anyone with an infection like strep throat I would get very sick and the infection was VERY resistent to antibiotics. I finally found a doctor who meant business and he used a scalpel, no anthesia and then he instructed me to take a bleach bath once a week.  A hot bath with two cups of pure bleach...I havent had an infection since...it has been three years... Bear in mind I also use bleach water in my nose a few times a month to keep the bacteria down in my sinuses.
