I get diarrhea when I drink any type of supplement shake mix for the first time. Or if it's been a long time since I've had one. Being an RN and thinking about what causes diarrhea I believe it's riding my colon of all the toxins from the c**p I've been eating. After a few shakes I no longer have problems.

You may be intolerant to casein. If you have a good health insurance plan, ask you doctor about an allergy test, I believe it's called the alcat. I took it a few years ago and they test your blood against over 300 different foods and additives. I was not intolerant to lactose but the casein found in dairy. Also found a number of other foods and additives I was intolerant to.

I also get bloating, stomach aches and diarrhea from whey powders. I have given it up now as I am more concerned with the damage it is doing. Obviously my body does not tolerate whey and I do not want to poison it.

You are most probably lactose intolerant, try using Whey isolate protein most of the lactose is removed.

It's perfectly normal to experience discomfort and increased bowel movements when starting a whey protein regimen as your body adjusts to it. Contact your doctor if problems continue for more than a week or blood appears in your stool. Try adding more water and fiber to your diet. I mix my protein in with oatmeal for some good carbs, use old fashioned only. Plain oatmeal with fruit is your best choice . Problems should improve within days, drink plenty of water because that is likely the biggest issue.
