this sounds like the exact surgery I just got done on my right foot and it worries me! I had 4 inches worth of bone cut out, 2 screws put in, they cut come ligaments, and shaved off my excess bone. I'm 18 so they say I will heal very quickly and much more effiectiently. it's my 5th week in and I have 3 more left! I'm still on crutches, but I can take a few steps here and there without it hurting. what worries me about your story is that you said one of your screws has rejected and made a very visible bump on your foot ): I'm 5 weeks into this healing process and I noticed a hard and large bump forming on the top of my foot about a week ago in the area where they put my screws in. is this normal during healing? I have asked my parents and they say it's just my bone fusing back together and making new bone but this story worries me! I am not in any excruciating pain. would I be in a lot more pain if one of my screws were being rejected?

I'm 18 and was born with bunions which have kept me from doing a lot of physical activities and wearing certain shoes because mine were/are so painful. I got my surgery because of the discomfort and pain of my bunions. anyways, it's my 5th week in and I have 3 more left! For me it has been 18 months since the surgery, the biggest mistake of my life, I'm in so much worse pain than before. A warning to all that considers the surgery DON"T DO IT

I had surgery on both feet (two days interval) on suggestion of the surgeon - no vices in the feet...
After the bandages were removed, I noticed that my big toes on both feet were shorter than my toes. Walking was so painful.... He cut off a lot of my cartilidge, my big toes are numb, literally sticking up in the air. My career involves a lot of travelling.....I spoke with another surgeon - he agreed that the other surgeon did a very bad job.....I had this surgery in Paris....

Hi Sunita-
I had this surgery in Nov 2016. It was a disaster. The surgeon screwed up everything and it is worse than before. He said he overcorrected my big toed. So now I'm walking on the metatarsal bone and it's huge and feels like I'm walking on a rock. My second toe was a hammertoe. He broke it and put a pin it in. Instead of being straight the toe curves over the other toes and has a huge space between it and the big toe. He cut the tendon in my other three toes and now they curl under and have become hammer toes. The operation and the two months after are extremely painful. And i can compare it to knee replacement and a hysterectomy.

The nerve block wore off you faster that the usual 24 hours of no pain. When it comes to it is awful,
you are not dying but it will be about a week of pain. Take you pain meds. I have been there three times.

Hi, I had surgery in February of this year, bunion, hammertoe and tendons cut on three toes. I was in a knee length cast. Absolutely non weight bearing! Three pins and a screw, in a wheelchair for six weeks. Five months later, I still have swelling and pain at the incision site. My second toe has no feeling, I can't bend it at all, would I do it again? At this point I'm not sure, ask me in another six months, hopefully i can walk without pain then.....

Did you ever sue the doctor and if you did how did it go?

I had bunion surgery last year. After surgery I noticed my big toe was pointing to the ceiling. Now I feel like I'm walking on my bent ankle.
Has anyone else had this problem?
---want did you do?????

I had bunion surgery back in the mid 1980's and I remember I was in such post pain, all I did was lay in bed and cry. Now, 30 years later, my big toe is growing sideways and so is the 2nd. I saw a podiatrist in 2016 and had surgery scheduled to correct it, but lost my job and had to cancel. Now, I have to wear shoes that have no side seams and if I wear boots, they have to be made of a really soft leather. Thinking back, I don't think I would have had the surgery. The first doctor botched it by actually shaving my bone, then sent me home in a boot made for the opposite foot.
