i experience the sinus burning sensation in my right nostril with no congestion at all. i do not inhale substances and never have in my life. i've had it for about a week. i didn't have a cold or anything before it started. however my son had just recovered from a fever and sore throat. not sure if it's related. the pain at first was so bad, i thought my teeth were going to fall out. i thought i either had bad cavities or gingivitis. i swished salt water, brushed, flossed, and used mouthwash every morning and night. it seemed to relieve the pain for 30 minutes or so. i haven't been able to sleep at night. i'm not sure if it's healing or not but now i feel the burning in my sinus and every once in a while the roof of my mouth feels like i burnt it on food. i'm not sure what to do about it or if i even should do anything. i've asked my step mother for some insight because she's a pharmacist but i don't think she understands my symptoms. she told me to get medicines for nasal decongestion but my sinuses aren't stuffy. i can't say i lead a stressful life, like most others do. i'm an at home mom and i watch my 3 year old daughter. she usually plays in her room quietly and i play video games. any suggestions of what i should do? i can't really afford to see a doctor and even if i did i wouldn't trust them. i went to school for my funeral director's license and had once buried a boy a few years younger than me because he had cancer in his sinuses. his doctor just told him it was allergies. in my town, allergies are a big thing with everyone so the doctors just automatically use that excuse without even checking. i don't have allergies that i'm aware of.

Hi, all. I am recently diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia although I've had it for 20 years or so. I've often gone to dentists with tooth pain and told I was grinding my teeth. I always knew I didn't grind but now that I've had the full-fledged eruption of pain in my face I know the Trigeminal nerve is at fault. I went to a neck-cracking kind of chiropractor who helped a lot but I got to a certain point where the pain was always there albeit at a lower level than a 10+ (unbearable). Now, I'm going for acupuncture tomorrow. I'm seeing a new kind of chiropractor who specializes in neurology so he knows far more about this disease, I hope. Last week was my first visit there and he gave me 3 balance type exercises to do to retrain my brain to muscle miscommunication. Oddly enough it seems it is working but I have such extreme fatigue that my hands shake all the time and I constantly feel like I need to go to bed. If this doesn't improve fast I'll be done with doctor shopping and ready to end it all. I really can't live like this. Good luck here and I'll keep you posted if it helps me.

I have the burning in my left sinus as well. This October will be two years since I quit smoking and it seems this started right around the same time. I also went to an ENT, had a cat scan, had one of my dental implants on the upper left (canine area) removed, all to no avail... still burns! Mine comes and goes but mostly comes. I am very sensitive to perfumes now also. I've never had any allergies in the past. I already have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and take Savella (for the fibro) and welbutrin (I used to quit smoking). I too have severe morning fatigue and I also get very nauseated in the morning for a brief period most days although not everyday. I too am at my wits end. I live in Arizona all winter and spend my summers in Pennsylvania. It doesn't seem to matter the weather, dry verses humid I still have pain. I actually have some brief periods of relief but mostly burning prevails. Stumped in Pa.....

I too have had terrible burning in my sinus, antibiotics helped for about 3 days and then it came back . My symptons are very similar to yours. I have been taking idonic silver internally and using it as a nasal spray I am also taking large doses of vitimin C as I heard that it helps sinus and finally I am getting some relief.

HI David,
Just wondering if your sinus problems have resolved with surgery. I personally am still suffering. I would appreciate any feedback you have. Thanks, Vicki

I very much had this problem. Almost same. Now I have been able to be free of this. And the cure was nothing but Pranayam and Chanting lord's name daily.
Make a rule of your life. 5 rounds of Kapal Bhanti every day. You will gradually see it disappearing fully . Also, it occurs because of stress and anxiety when internally we loose our balance. The flow of oxygen doesnt happen well in body when we consume too much of pleasure but dont payback to the nature.

You can experiment on following :
Follow following 3 principles daily and be happy for ever.

1. Chanting your Lord's name 216 time in a day. I chant :
Hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare. hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare. 216 times. (or 2 rounds of the beads.)

You can chant the name of the God you believe in .

2. Kapal bhanti pranayam (Breathing excercise) :

You can watch Baba Ramdev Videos on Youtube for Kapal bhanti pranayam . Do only 5 rounds in a day. Only 5 rounds. each round having 30 inhalation-exhalation. Very small amount , but very effective in the long run.

3. Read good literature / spiritual literature every day before sleep. If you are christian , and believe in Jesus Read few phrases of Bible , and then sleep .

You can experiment on above for sometime (say 3 weeks) and reply me.

These problems occur when we dont pay back for whatever we consume on this Earth. And then we are taxed. So By doing above three things , we can come to our reality and be joyful always.

hi vicki..it's been a few months since surgery and i definitly feel better as i am no longer suffering from the symtoms..but i live in massachusetts and come the winter when i turn my heat on thats when i usually have problems..quality of life is terrible so i guess that will be the real test..humidifier helped..but as soon as i got in car the heater would make it worst..anyway the surgery was worth it and wasn't as bad as i thought ..a couple days of discomfrot..i hope you feel better as i've suffered for years as it would come and go..take care..david

I see this is an older post, however, I want to share. I have had sinus issues my entire life, it ended up with a botched sinus surgery 20 years ago. The doctor though it would be a good idea to remove EVERYTHING! This helped with the constant infections but now I am left without any of the natural defense mechanisms.

I have had the most painful sinus issues ever fornthe past 2 months. The same as yours actually, burning and pain on one side. I'm extremely fatigued and the pain at night is horrible. I do the irrigation, prescribed meds plus antibiotics to no avail. I can find no relief. I live in a hot and humid environment as well. I see a chiropractor, a doctor and follow all instruction to a t. Did you ever get relief.

Hi all. I wanted to update this post. I've been getting acupuncture and specific exercises now for a couple months and my pain is almost gone. I'm truly amazed. If you are interested in acupuncture and want to know you have best of care, look up Dr. Ivo Waerlop in Dillon, CO. I drive 2 & 1/2 hours to see him now about once a month and I most likely will be able to stop seeing him soon. I'm doing very well with everything: Trigeminal Neuritis, lack of balance, extreme pain, fatigue all gone or much better. Good luck with your searches.

i had posted earlier about having these symptoms in my right sinus rather than the left as most others have reported. it's been a few months and the pain is completely gone but will come back for a day or two and then stop again for a few weeks. i'm not sure why or how i got it to stop but i'll go ahead and list of the things i did:

i have some peppermint tea that i would drink hot and breath in the steam as i drank.
as odd as it sounds, brushing my teeth and using mouth rinse helped a little with the pain even though i know it's not a toothache.
after brushing, my husband would rub my face as close as i could tell him where most of the pain was and that would help a lot.
i know it's hard, but relaxing helps. my husband likes running his fingers through my hair and giving me little massages and that helped me relax a little even with all the pain. (a lot of this is with help from my husband)
sometimes when the pain comes back, it helps if i lay on my side where the side that hurts is against the bed.
another weird one, sometimes eating is made very painful but when i tough it out through the pain, after a few minutes, the pain goes away.
sometimes blowing my nose would make the pain go away but sometimes it would make it worse... so if you're willing to take a chance...

that's about it. again, this is my personal experience. i hope it helps : / i haven't had any surgeries or doctor visits. good luck.

I'm sorry to hear all of you having sinus issues. I was a sinus sufferer for over 30 years, I even went for an operation. The sinusitis returned again. I then read Sinus Survival by Dr Robert Ivker only to realize numerous rounds of antibiotics had caused fungal/yeast overgrowth in my sinuses. That was the turning point. Another useful book-The Yeast Connection by Dr Robert Crooks. Most cases of sinusitis are due to yeast.

What happened next was I went on anti-candida diet, used anti-fungals and healed my leaky gut with butyric and caprylic acid. I also found the blood type diet ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** web addresses not allowed***Please read our Terms of Use

Since then, I went from using boxes of tissues to none daily or maybe just occasional phlegm. It took years to heal, it has not been easy, but I'm at a happy place where I'm much, much stronger.

I wish you well and hope you do find your way to better health. It will take determination but it's worth it. Please do your research about the harmful effects of antibiotics and candida. I no longer fully trust doctors because listening to them messed up my health. Alternative medicine healed me and gave me my life back! All the best!

I also have the same problem, on my left side. it's burning inside every time I breath in, for 6 months now and it's a terrible pain. I find it really surprising that most of you have this pain on their left side. I wonder why? unfortunately it seems that everyone writes his story and then they never come back.

probably some have solved their problem but they forget the forums they've posted in...they just go back to their daily problems and activities and forget about it.

so I think it would be a great idea to get in touch and make a group. the more people we are, the bigger the chaces we'll find a proper diagnosis and a cure.

I think together we can figure it out a lot better than on our own. I've gathered some information(medical journals) and i'm also in contact with 3 other people. would be great to get in touch and make a group or something, don't you think?

I personally don't think it's trigeminal neuralgia, because I've tried medication for trigeminal neuralgia and it didn't work for me. I'm curious of your experiences with medication. The only thing that worked was an anesthetic spray that one doctor sprayed into my nose before endoscopy. Well, it's not the first time I get misdiagnosed. Misdiagnosis happen more often than you think.

I'm sure there are hidden condition most doctors are unaware of, because they are rare. it's really important to make our own research and don't rely only on our doctors. just read the story of a man that lived with headaches for 6 years until his wife saved him. doctors didn't have a clue about his rare condition. medication didn't work. If you send me an e-mail I can send to you his story and the medical journal that helped his diagnosis.

Let's work together!

hope to hear from you soon,

nose pain
