hello, I am a 32 years old female and I have been suffering from buzzing sensation in the head for over 3 months now. I also feel a flickering all over my body ( back, legs, arms) but mostly in the head. I have seen a nuerologist, MRI,MRA,MRV, results are normal. I was also reffered to an ENT because before all these symtoms started 4 months ago I had a nasal congestion and when I tried to blow the mucus out, I became very dizzy, felt like the wall was spinning for a few seconds. Since then I had foggy vision for 2 months. My vision eventually better after a few months but the buzzing sensation in my head has not gone away. feels like its gotten worst because now I also have flickering and pulsing sensation all over my body mostly in my head. I have seen almost all type of specialist but cant seem to find whats causing the problem. The back of my neck has been hurting also and I do hear a sound more like a sizzling sound, not sure if its coming from neck, throat or ear but these feeling are very disturbing. I feel like I had developed anxiety because its been going on for a while now and still cannot rule out whats causing it. Please help if you have an idea, thank you in advance!

No I am not in the medical field. I have had the problem for 14 years and done a lot of research. Unfortunately I have to go to the VA and they are INCOMPETENT. Every doctors says something different and even though I have put my doctors (PCP) finger on the vertebrae that IS out of place the neurologist keep saying that it is BPPV. I believe that the VA just does NOT want to pay for the surgery that would be necessary to correct the problem. They like to say that physical therapy will fix it. I have had physical therapy several times and it has NOT helped. The last one made it worse. I keep the pain down with the pain meds and the tingling down with the carbamazepine. I am trying to get the VA to pay for me to go to a doctor outside the VA but that was just denied. The doctor that denied it obviously did NOT even read the request since it clearly said that I have been to the Detroit VA as well as the Ann Arbor VA. Yet he denied it saying that I could go to the Detroit VA for a second opinion. I have found that ALL of the VA doctors are IGNORANT, STUPID, ILLITERATE, INCOMPETENT, NEGLIGENT and SERIOUSLY MENTALLY SICK!!! The amount of data I have to prove that is unbelievable. I am in touch with a reporter that I am writing and give him that information. I mean medial records and recordings I made. The NUTTY Neurologist at the Detroit VA said that I do NOT have BPPV but the neurologist at Ann Arbor insists that it is BPPV. ENG test by audiology show that it is NOT BPPV at both VA's. so until something is done at the VA I am stuck being in pain until the morphine, Vicodin, tramadol and other medications start to work. That takes up to 2 hrs. Then I have to keep taking it every few hours to keep the pain from coming back. Good luck to all of you and keep at it until you have the answer and get it corrected.
It stated for me when I was trying to get off Effexor. I had to back off one pellet at a time untill it was finally gone. NOw here I am been of Lexapro for years and needing to get off it and I am going through thesame thing. It is like drug withdrawl, your neuro transmitters have become addicted to the seratonin and are craving it as you take it away. It is taking longer on the Lexapro to get off than the Effexor...I should have know, I would go through the same thing...I hope I havn't caused perminant damage...but I also have other health issues that could effect the withdrawel process. Good luck to all of you who have to endure this.
Thank you very much. No bumps thankfully in the area of pulsations, and the pulsations are mostly on the left side of the body - leg, base of foot, arm and head- also back of neck where the occipital nerve runs...well in terms of lower back, the MRI indicates straightening of lumbar spine but no bulges..only bulges are cervical...the pulsations do run into right side as well- in fingers of the hand and foot. The somewhat weird thing is - this is not accompanied by any pain other than a headache on a bad day when the tingling / buzzing is a little stronger normally soon after waking up or tendering of the scalp is the only other thing but the buzzing and pulsating gets really nerve wrecking (for the lack of better word!) No detailed tests done on circulation - the neurologist said your carotid arteries and heart are fine - otherwise he would have heard an abnormal sound or arrhythmic heartbeats through stethoscope but no detailed tests on circulation. Doesn't think they are needed. After a lot of trying to convince him that this is not anxiety, he has finally reordered a brain MRI. And cervical MRI. The problem is that I think I know what the problem is but don't have a solution - so likely that this second round of MRI is not going to reveal anything new (hopefully) other than bulge discs and straightening of spine but he doesn't give me a solution... 3 months on - says leave it- no physio or surgery needed, it will go away with time...irritating as it interferes with everything, work and personal life, sleep and what else not..
I am sorry to hear about your predicament and really wish you a full recovery! I am actually across the ocean from you - in england but amazed that in this day and age something seemingly as obvious as neck issue causes so much frustration. BPPV well I thought that goes away after a few months, if not weeks. No way it lasts for 14 years! Seriously 4 months of this and the quality of my life is effected. I am cranky, lack concentration, researching on symptoms given any spare moment etc etc - admire you for facing this for 14 years. Did you not get an MRI and does it not clearly show the out of place vertebrae? You know what annoys me is this conversation; me; doc, I have bulged disc/ out of place vertebrae/ etc. doc: your symptoms are not related to that. Me: ok what are the symptoms related to then. Doc: don't know, me: WELL DONT YOU THINK I HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF BEING PARTIALLY RIGHT THEN!!! Doc: unlikely. How amusing!
I have vibrating buzzing sensation as well, actually I have sinusitis issues as well for over 6 years can't sleep at night unless I take a pill to slow me down, is horrible no one knows what this is. My vision also buzz and vibrate as well especially at night when I am trying to sleep, I feel for you and all the other people like us with no answer.
You all have migraine! Migraine is a chronic incurable condition. It causes dizziness/vertigo, sinus pressure, tingling limbs, vibrating/buzzing sensations in the body and head, mood changes, restless legs, hypnic jumps when dozing off to sleep, vision changes (visual snow, blurred vision), neck and headache/stabbing pain. Fibromyalgia type symptoms. Transient numbness in limbs, vomiting anf diarrhoea, irritable bowel and the list goes on. It is exacerbated by anxiety and won't show anything up on an MRI or blood test. It can't be cured with physio. It can be chronic or intractable i.e. contiuous migraine ativity everyday all day. Does not have to be accompained by a headache achephalic migraine. There is no cure.
Same i had it when i was a young (15-20) and occasionally tried to scratch it. Now its kind of a light hum that is a constant background noise, that i only hear when im not busy. I havnt seen a doctor either. I think its just a sensitivity to radiation because it is less abundant in empty fields. If its not noticable in places without technology its just a radiation sensetivity. All things radiate. But light bulbs, computer screens and telephones will make the humming worse.
That is really bizarre. I have the exact same thing happening with me as we speak. It has been happening for months and at first I thought I might have a tumor or something. My clarity of thought is extreme and I feel like I can see the world coming at me in slow motion. I know I am not crazy but it almost feels like I have been "born again" although I am way too grounded in reason for that. My buzzing continues and I suffer in silence because it is too much for my wife to hear. Six months ago I was a bumbling fool who couldn't put together a sentence. Anyone else have symptoms like this?
To me this sounds like you have adrenal fatigue. I have the buzzying too, not sure what it is. But, recently read up on adrenal fatigue and find any noise bothers me and I get annoyed easily. Comes from stress and accumulates over lifetime. Do some reasearch. Hope this helps. PS: See Dr. Berg video on adrenal gland fatigue.

Have you tried seeing a chiropractor or massage therapist? Perhaps you have pinched nerves or pulled muscles in your neck.
Yes absolutely! I've had this due to sinus problems and it went away for me! Took a while though, about two months.
Please tell me what you did to relieve your head buzzing. I have been having it for about a week and it's driving me crazy. Thank you.
