I guess you can say that it is truly possible that drinking does make you hurt more. This happens to be why I'm on this page right now! I haven't had a drink in about 2 days, and hopped out of bed today! I usually get up and stumble towards the pain medication. I'm a heavy drinker... mostly vodka. I mix it, but with an extremely light mix. My drink is kinda strong. I am also going to look into weight gain, and water retention too because I see that my furosemide is really releasing water today!
I am 20 years old and about a month ago I had just 3 glasses of white wine while lying in bed watching a t.v. show. I wasn't drunk just bit a bit tipsy and I realized that my knees started to hurt a lot. Every morning after I drink my knees bother me but I always thought it was from dancing or walking in heels all night until now. Even if I don’t drink my knees sometimes bother me. I haven't planned to see a doctor because I am young but looking at a lot of these comments, I am now debating if I should see one or not. I can't possibly have gout at 20 years old..? If you have any advice I would be open to listening and if your only advice is to stop drinking, I have already decided to do so an haven’t had a sip of alcohol since then.
I find when my blood PH is too acid. I get the same pains especially in my knees. Get a list of acid and alkalin food from the net. You'd be surprised as what is acid in your blood and what is alkalin. Drinking mineral water (not Poland spring) without carbonation is very alkalin. Also hot peppers when eaten helps with pain. The old addage of eating a balanced meal was not far off the mark, only balanced between acid and alkalin. Hope this helps
YES YES YES I HAVE BEEN ON ALL KINDS OF PAIN PILLS ALONG WITH CORTISOL INJECTIONS AND STEROIDS I STOPPED SMOKING AND DRINKING WINE. ITS BEEN TEN DAYS AND NOW I HAVENT TAKEN ANYTHING FOR PAIN .....SMOKING AND DRINKING ADDS TO INFLAMMATION.
Have you been tested for celiac disease or gluten intolerance (the TTG blood test)? Both can cause intense joint pain mimicking rheumatoid arthritis. (I know--I have celiac disease). Beer is definitely not gluten free.
I am 82 yrs & I drink 1-2 glasses of red wine nightly & have pain & stiffness in middle fingers. Not in other joints. Wonder if the white wine would make a difference?
Hello, I am new to this forum. Well I know about the foods which consumed can reduce joints pain, like extra virgin olive oil, salmon, red peppers, cherries, walnuts, kale ,soy
My wife gets pain in her shoulders, arms and legs minutes after consuming tiny amounts of alcohol.
Dehydration doesn't even have time to kick in and she drinks water before and after, thus water is not the answer.
The pain leaves her usually within the hour, she just turned 30 and has had this problem for years now though not with all alcoholic substances (port doesn't seem to be a problem).

This has been happenining to me also for the past 5-8 years and I am 49 now. I had a feeling that it was due to dehydration and inflammation. It is really bad when I golf as we have more beer on the course than water and then can't figure out why I am so stiff the next day. Hips, hands and wrists are the worst for me. Must be some arthritis as my buddies are not affected the same way that I am and I drink far more water than they do. Hope this isn't for life but have a feeling it will be.
Yes I do very tight tendons before the joint pain even. More I drink tighter the tendons. Other than that I am fit. I wondered if it was an allergy?
I am a 31 year old male. For the past two years I have experienced joint pain. Mostly in my right knee and occasionally in my left knee and elbow. I'm a hairstylist, so majority of the time I am standing with my arms out in front of me. I was attributing my joint pain to the nature of my profession, but as time has gone by I am realising that this is not the case. I also suffer from psoriasis which I believe is connected to our diets. I am learning that gluten may possibly be causing my joint pain. I have switched to red wine and have not had any joint pain, so far. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If I drink beer, within 30 minutes my psoriasis flares up and my right knee starts aching.

Red wine does make it worse. I have RA, but am actually pretty healthy and I love drinking but unfortunately I can't drink very often at all. Anytime I do drink, it's always maybe 2 hours later that every joint in my body aches and I feel sluggish for 2-3 days. Wine make its so much worse. I've noticed Vokda doesn't hurt as bad, so occasionally I indulge with friends. You just have to decide if it's worth the pain.
Some bottle shops sell drops that you can add to your drink to counteract the effects of sulphides. Its like an antihistamine. If you can't get the drops try an antihistamine tablet.
