You should be tested for Celiac Disease. Beer has wheat and barley. Celiac doesnt allow proper absorption of Viramin D.
There is a condition called Gout which is more prevalent with people who drink alot of alcohol and consume alot of protein too. Please research Gout, it may be helpful. Good Luck.
MORAL OF THE STORY. STAY DRUNK AND YOU WON'T BE IN PAIN WAHAHA.
It's been a while since this was potesd but do you recall where you found the research on cancer and the "rare" pacient you mentioned on the bottom of your post?
Hi, I,m a 49 yr female. Been a window cleaner for last 15 years. Never really drank at all until my mid to late thirties. Got a taste for good white wine but never really drank more than a couple of glasses per session. Over the last couple of years I've started to suffer all sorts of aches & pains in various joints. Had numerous rheumatoid tests which have showed negative. Had an intense month planning and doing the catering for 110 people for my
Sons wedding. Had a manic week before and on the day over several hours I drank 1 glass bucks fizz 4 glasses of white wine. Next day felt like I was dying, ached all over. Felt rough for a week. Been on Hol but have felt my energy levels have reduced by about 30-40%. Just been xrayed and have onset of arthritis in my hip joints. However my main problem has been excruciating burning tingling pain in my fingers along the joints. Best way to describe is as if someone is trying to pluck my fingernails out !! Woul wake several times in extreme pain, used ibruprofen gel, antinflammitarys, ice, codeine antihistamines. Not getting any answers from Docters so decided to try exclude alcohol, also switched from shredded wheat for breakfast to oat cereal. Not much improvement to my hip pain or shoulder & neck aches but I have been off alcohol for 16 days .An improvement in my hand symptoms about 70 -80 %. Day 17 had 1 glass of white wine, day 18 no major reaction so I had 1 more glass. Today, day 19 felt rough all day, low energy did 5 hrs at work came home slept for 2 hrs. Hand started tingling and painful joints again. I have in the past had a high bilirubin count which is the by product your liver produces .So guys the moral is I think my body has difficulty processing the byproducts alcohol produces. Whilst off alcohol I did have a flare up within 2 hours of eating a tomato pasta sauce. Sorry post was so long but I too have been searching everywhere for answers . hope my experience is of use , just gonna watch what I drink and eat from now on.

Yes. Happens to me as well but within 1 hour of drinking. I had started taking prenatal vitamins for 5 days thinking I was deficient in something and it stopped my pain. I was pain free for 4 days. I decided to have 1 cocktail after work and I started hurting again within an hour after consuming the alcohol. I hadnt had liquor in about 7 days before this.
This has cause me to become suspicious and relate the alcohol as the trigger and make me wonder if I may have arthritis...

Is this damage permanent? Can water plump up the ligaments again?
At the age of 52 I must finally accept the terrible fact that drinking alcohol and joint pain have a direct relationship. I have experienced this since I was a young adult. I accept it and refrain from drinking (wine and beer are my favs) but eventually I have a few drinks a few days in a row and I am in agony again. It has been put to the test by me over a hundred times in the past 30 years so I guess it is a fact even if there is no distinct medical study to prove it. I don't like this fact. I very much enjoy wine and beer, but I like my health more so I have decided to leave it behind me.
Appreciate your information,very useful.
Hi, I had the same problem with Stella, stopped drinking it ,now drink Becks because of the "German brewing impurity law" basically no chemicals in the beer, also no hangovers, but I also made a point of drinking a bit less....
Hi,
I am having the problem of knee pain sometimes in morning starts ~ 4am ans lasts from 1 to 3 hours. I think it relates to the alcohol drinking at night before the pain appears in the next morning.
I am checking my diet and alcohol drinking for the coming week to confirm.

stop drinlking you silly 14 yr old
So how are you doing now a year later?
I am a 70 yo and have consumed alcohol all my life. Excepting my silly youth my consumption these days is quite moderate but I still occasionally let go when distant mates visit.
I have noticed for a long time that the day after drinking even one or two beers, wine or whatever, that the next day I feel stiff and sore in the spots where I know I have some arthritic issues eg my neck, lower right back and right knee. I can even get some measure on this because I have a golf handicap of about 20 and when I am affected I can NEVER play to my handicap coming in usually 5 to 10 shots over..
These days I have adjusted my intake and lifestyle accordingly eg when I have some physical activity planned I just try not to drink any alcohol for a day or two before and I wake up mostly fine and ready to go the next day.
Whilst generally I have given up trying to understand the mechanism or the ingredient that is the basic cause of the reaction (yeast, prurine, sulphites or something else) I am still curious to know. I have noted for instance that when I drink a better quality wine or beer (even ones with a higher alcohol content) I tend to fare better the next day.
Overall I try to take the good out of any situation and think that my reaction has overall been a good thing as it has saved me from a life of heavy drinking and whatever consequences that may have entailed. Today I can still enjoy a drink in moderation and a reasonably active and otherwise (fingers crossed) healthy life.

After reading all these posts, its seems clear to me that I'm not the only one this happens to. I only had a few bottles of beer last night and this morning I woke up with shooting pains below my knee. I had noticed previously I sometimes get shooting pains in my elbow and knee ONLY after having a night of drinking (but only around 10-20% of the time). No idea what specifically is causing it!
