I'm at a loss Kelly. It should not keep recurring. Talk to your ob/gyn and see what they recommend.
I'm wondering if maybe you are having a reaction to the specific type of condom that may be aggravating this. I'm assuming the condom is latex, try another material.
It's about the only thing I can think of.
Please keep us posted. Good luck.
The best way reoccuring bacterial vaginosis was explained to me is this:
If you change the environment, you change the kind of bacteria that can live and grow there.
DONT douche, dont use scented body washes or soaps (and if you do, try really hard not to get it in the vaginal area), avoid bubble baths, dont stick anything up there that isnt supposed to be there (food, foreign objects), at least change your clothes after a workout if you cant shower right away, wearing close fitting clothes (bathing suits, tight pants, leotards) keeps your vagina from breathing and that can also cause an imbalance.
Bacterial vaginosis is common. I'm no doctor but I think it's safe to assume that most women will experience it at some time in her life. The best advice I can give you is to practice safe and regular hygiene, keep using condoms, and dont be embarassed! Ask questions and get informed. Dont be afraid to tell or ask your doctor anything. Believe me, they see hundreds of patients and have most likely heard it before. They are there to help you but cant help you properly without GOOD information. If you want it to stop/go away, then make sure your doctor knows everything you know.
A guy who eats a lot of sweet food can change the vaginal pH as his sperm will be sweeter so that can cause a yeast infection where as a guy who eats less sweet food can change the vaginal pH as his sperm will be more sour and can cause the BV bacteria to take hold. So you see he doesn't actually carry the bacteria unless he has a foreskin and never pulls it back to wash then he may!
