I am in the same boat. ENT at my local hospital gave me NeilMed sinus rinse with a few sachets to start me off and suggested a nasal rinse first thing in the morning and an hour prior to going to bed, been doing this for a number of years now and it does help, I get a couple of days mucus free and think it is cleared and stop the rinses but the mucus always comes back and I have to start up again and if miss a rinse I sure know about it 15-20 minutes coughing and hacking session to get it clear.
Hope this helps.

I also have been suffering with severe mucous cough for 7 years...am now 44 years old. Living in a mountainous area with many pollens and constant remodeling of an old cabin have reeked havoc on my sinuses and robbed me of energy...also completely shutting me down with sickness several times. I have been to an Ayurvedic doctor which helped me temporarily get my energy back by cutting out all dairy, wheat, meat products and alcohol (exception of rice wine only). Although this helped increase my energy level, the cough never went away. I then went to the Allergy Association of America where they did several tests including a pin prick panel on my back of all possible allergy causes based on the environment I live...found out I have acute allergy to dust which is causing asthma tendencies. They put me on a steroid for two months which stopped the cough but the day the pills ended, the cough came back. I have since discovered that what has really worked best and keeps the cough to a minimum is a natural homemade tea of hot water with a squeeze of fresh cut lemon and local honey...I add mint sometimes as well...I drink this every morning. I have cut out all red wine and keep coffee to a minimum as both of these make my condition worse. Natural oil "Breathe" from Doterra also helps the asthma affects..one drop in the middle of the palm of your hand, rub hands together and cup hands over mouth and inhale. Helps a lot! Would like to hear about any other natural remedies that have helped anyone with this very frustrating chronic issue.

I also have this problem after a big cold with bronchitis, I have a mucus buildup in the mornings and throughout the day I have a feeling of something gelatinous in the back of my throat that- it is really just a thickening of my saliva. For a few years now I had this but didn't see a doctor for it. I really want to cure it naturally if I can and I hope it is not a symptom of a serious disease. Also, after I eat I have to clear my throat often but not spit. What is this problem? Is it a virus that I caught and it stayed in my throat?

for 3 minutes, until crisp tender. A little olive oil or lemon or a dash of Sea salt, and any herbs, will really enhance this type of menu.
1/2 cup Steel oats, soaked, 6 hours in 1 cup of water with cinnamon, is nice treat. I use pure Stevia extract as a sweetener,
Remember... LEMON IS OUR BEST FRIEND. Unlike people think, pure lemon juice is NOT acidic! It turns alkaline in your system.
2 TBs. fresh lemon juice, 3 times a day, strait-- no water or food 20 minutes before or after, will drastically help reduce mucous in your system. Sounds like you have a severe acid/alkaline imbalance. There IS NO MAGIC PILL TO HELP! It's what your eating. It's a gradual trade off, of what you are eating now... and it DOES take discipline. However...the rewards are miraculous. All the best of health to you.
