I was just wondering how you are doing? I am going through similiar symptoms and have been put on nasal spray and meds. for mild reflux. I told my doctor that my vocal chords feel sore when I talk a lot and it feels like a lump in my throat. She might send me for some endoscopic look at my vocal chords to check for some kind of growth? The odd thing is twenty years ago my college professor, when I was doing my student teaching ,told me something about I don't speak correctly and I will ruin my vocal chords after time. I never really knew what he meant, but now it makes me wonder? The meds. i am taking now are not doing much , so I was wondering how your speech therapy is going?
I have a similar situaion, and am wondering if you have a diagnosis yet?
Hey Everyone!!
Continuous Strep throat is NOT a good sign. I had it 3 times last yr and got diagnosed with cancer! and it was worst like Mindy's...cuz it was for 8 hours! ... So get biopsy done, get your thyroid hormone levels checked, and research research research. You health is your respondibility, The Dr's today, they don't have time these days they just see wats on the scan, so please be active in ur health matters and check out things...

I have been having all these systems and a couple of others. Mine started, I thought, w/ a swoolen node in the armpit-but then I remembered taking a day off work to go to the doctor for a severe ear-ache and migraine combination.
He said your ears are not infected. You have swollen glands. Now my throat hurts almost constanly. I have started having nosebleeds-3 in little over a month-doesn't sound like a lot until you consider that is more than I have had in 15 years.
I teach drama so I know and practice how to properly use my voice, but it doesn't help.
My gyno thought it was a breast issue and refered me to a breast specialist who thought I needed to have antibiotics and blood test w/ my regular doctor-who thought he had done blood test recently enough (June) all this started mid-sept. I am really frustrated and can't get answers. I am cranky-I mean mood spasms-not mood swings. I have nightmares that it is lymphoma or luekemia and the docs are just letting me waste away. I hope one of you gets a straight answer. I'll print out this strand and take it to all my doctors.

I have the same problem, i actually thought it was a route canal or something cause its a throbing pain sometimes, but i purpousely dont swallow for min at a time since it hurts soo bad. And my lymphnodes are HUGE. And my tonisls. THis sucks and i hope we all get better!
im like really SCARED....ive had one in my throat before but it went away after a day or two..my mom is a nurse..and this might not work for everyone but i gurgled with warm water and salt ...and it helps..then i got a hauls for the sore throat with vitamin c...BUT it cam back a few yrs later..i was scared cause the first thing u relate it too is CANCER!..it never got too big it just stayed small and hurt when i swallowed..but hopefully u guys have no more problems..if anyone has any resolution to it just write me on AIM/aol...SWEETPASSION87 :'(
i know this sounds so simple but i realize at this point you may try anything that may help you. I wouold check the realitive humidity in your enviorment and look for anything that might be alergic. there are strang mold issues that you could be having a negative reaction to. I know if the rh percentage is down there are strange side affects that could occur in the body. the lack of water in the air makes ones body react in strange ways. The other issue i would consider is getting a humidifier in your bedroom. there are other things i can offer but for now lets see how this goes. drew
I too have the same problem, but mine JUST started. I think I'm going to do something about this today as I've had it for about 4 days now with two swollen lymph nodes on my left side of my neck and one on my right. It hurts to swallow and I am always fatigued. I have a hypothesis though... and it deals with wisdom teeth. Mine have yet to be extracted, and I hear if you don't get them extracted when they are impacted, the tooth can rot, causing an infection that, which causes symptoms of pain thought to be experienced in the neck, when it's in fact triggered from the jaw.
How many people here have had their wisdoms pulled? Also, have you noticed tightness or stiffness in your necks? I can't even crack mine anymore, but it makes a popping sound when I move it in a certain position. Possibly a slipped disk causing infection?
I will not stop until this is resolved.

I have exactly the same problem. Chronic sore throat now for over 4 months, pain in left ear, etc. The ENT specialist thinks it is acid reflux but the medication I was prescribes does nothing.I have tried anti-biotics, anti-fungal(nystatin) , allergy medicine, etc. I am very afraid and my life too has been in ruins.I went for a CAT scan a few days ago and now I am awaiting the results. This will take awhile before I can get the results. This started with a very sore throat and very swollen neck glands. The glands in my neck finally shrunk after about 6 weeks. I am wondering if I didnt pick up mono or some other virus. I am also wondering if this isn`t caused by arthritis. My throat seems to only hurt on the left side and it is very red and inflamed on that side. I am 53 years old and I can hardly take the pain and suffering. I did have a scope down my nose and throat and other than inflamed vocal chords, nothing bad was visible. My voice is also very hoarse from time to time. If anyone else here has had their sore throat eventually resolve I would like to know so that I have some hope.
I forgot to mention that my shoulder and arm hurts too and both are very inflamed. I also found a small lump in my neck tonight above the collarbone, o the left side.
I have the same symptoms, mine started 4 months ago on the 7th day after my tonsillectomy.
* I have swollen lymph node (1.5cm per CT) Painful to the touch.
* Red sore throat with stabbing feeling on the right side when I swollow.
* Constant right ear pain, occaisional left ear pain, ringing in the ears.
I have been on 6 different antibiotcs and they do nothing. I have been on steriods 6 times and had 3 or 4 steriod shots. The steriods do help relieve some pain but as soon as I get to a lower dose or off of them I am right back where I started from.
I too have acid reflux and have had it for years. I am on meds for it, so I rarely have the back-up into the throat.
My ENT don't know what is wrong with me but want to remove the node.
At this time I am electing not to do that.
I had a Fine Needle Aspiration biopsy (FNA) and it shows no malignacies.
My pathology report on the tonsils showed no cancers.
I had a Audiologist test my ears and there is nothing wrong with them.
NOTE: I had severe tonsillites 14 days prior to the surgery, but was completely recovered.
mcskeptic, where are you? How are you feeling? Are you all better and have forgotten about us who are still suffering? Do you have any answeres for us? Please help us if you can.
Here is what i have learned;
Ear pain is normal after a tonsillectomy, it is a considered a "reffered pain" and will go away after the throat is healed.
Lymph nodes and tonsils are both apart of your lymphmatic system AND immune system.
Your spleen (located on the left side under the rib cage) is your largest lmph node. If it is swollen, you should avoid contact sports, because it may burts.
What causes a swollen lymph node is; a cut, bite, cat scratch or trama close to the affected node, or cancer.
Avoid playing with the node, pushing on it, or poking it with a needle, this could aggrivate it and make it worse.
Sometimes a node will go away on it's own and sometimes it may never go away.
What do we all have in common? reacurring tonsillites? :?

Hi painful1. It is somewhat comforting to know that I am not alone with this problem but it is disturbing too that so many people have similiar symptoms. It`s like an epidemic. Some previously mentioned this and that perhaps the health authourities don`t yet know about it. I often think it may be some kind of sinus infection or due to allergies but I am stumped. My throat often feels like its burning and then that goes away and its just sore. Sometimes massaging my neck rellieves the pain. There is also a trigger point sore spot on the top of my head that seems to affect the pain. I am getting so weary of waking up every morning with a sore throat and spending all day coping with it and then going to bed with it. Same thing, day after day after day. For four months now!
The worry is also driving me nuts. I do have arthritis in my neck and sometimes I think this may be the cause. My shoulder and arm hurts a lot too.
Mine too started out with a very sore throat and swollen neck glands. I seem to have a very mild diarrhea too.
Well lets hope someone has found a solution.

coniferblack, have you been to a doctor yet? I hope you have had that lump on your collar bone checked out.
No, I just discovered the lump yesterday. Its about the size of a pea. I have an appointment with the ENT next week and will point it out to him then. It may have shown up on the CAT scan too. I think it is a slightly swollen lymph gland. But thanks for the advice. I agree I have to get it looked at. This sore throat thing is the weirdest thing that has ever happened to me. The uncertainty of it all is driving me crazy and I of course am worried that it is cancer of some kind. I used to smoke and I lived near a busy intersection for years, breathing in exhaust fumes, rubber tire dust, etc. I have also been exposed to industrial chemicals through employment.
One thing I am also wondering about is small pinhead size bumps on my soft palate. I don`t ever remember them being there. I asked a few people if they have them and they said yes so I guess that is normal. The doctor also didn`t think they were anything to worry about. Still...

I have the same symptoms as well. My throat hurts like crazy, when I swallow, my throat feels as if its bieng stabbed and my ears feel like there going to burt. I also have a swollen Node on my neck. It is such an extreme pain to swallow anything, even salliva, I have not eaten a real meal in 3 days because of this. I am going to to hospital now hoping to get answers but as from seeing this message board, I am not very optimistic.
