My wife wakes me up several times a week to try and stop my clicking. It usually starts again and I'll wake up in the morning to find she's sleeping downstairs. I don't hear it, but a few years ago she recorded me. It was LOUD (I know her not being able to sleep well isn't funny, but I laughed so hard that I cried). I'm not overweight, no allergies, healthy. It happens year round. I am a heavy sleeper most nights, and readily remember many dreams and details (I mention this if this says anything about my sleep patterns).
I have also been having this for probably 2+ years... started off with a comment from my mum when we stayed away overnight together in a motel, and the next day she said I was clicking my tongue or throat in my sleep.
I don't think it was happening often to start with, but it has continued and become a lot more frequent. It has started waking my up as it is so loud and I can feel myself making the clicking sounds. My husband reckons it sounds like a gecko or almost like a frog sound... weird but it is upsetting me because I don't know how to stop it and I am always feeling tired.
I have this problem for years. My wife said I do this every night. I was diagnosed very mind sleep apnea which was just enough to get me a CPAP covered by insurance. The use of CPAP doesn't quite fix the problom. I still do throat clicking. I feel tired every day, and it affects my daily performance a lot. I feel that I am aging fast these year due to this.
Hi there, Can I ask did you ever fond a remedy for this as I suffer from the same thing, Many Thanks, Chris
That clicking sound in your nose is caused from a condition called sinusitis and the actual click sound is when one of the nasal passages is opening and typically the other nostril is closing.
I know how u feel. My bf is getting extremely angry with me and nudges me EVERY night. It wakes me up with a startle but i just start clicking again. Sometime i hear it too when im drifting off. I may go to the gp as i read it could be sleep apnea.
I have the same issue and have for years. I accidentally figured out the way to get rid of it is to place a small pillow or something of the sort under your chin resting on your throat and it goes away. It can also go away by adjusting the angle of your head on the pillow. If you have nothing to place there, lastly I've used my hand just at the base of my upper throat and chin where they meet. Mine stems from that area so a little bit of pressure works.
I think what it is could be a mucus membrane being effected by the exhaled air in your throat. Hopefully this helps you. =)
For me, it's when I lay on my sides even if my head is tilted very slightly to the side. But the clicking comes from my nose. When I inhale and exhale the clicks are tiny but annoying and it keeps me up at night. The only position where clicks don't happen is on my back but everywhere else is a nightmare. I can't sleep and it drives me crazy.
What is lye down?
I am having the same problem with my husband. He clicks all night long.it's so loud and repetitive. His started about a year ago. But he thinks I am making a big deal out of it and it's not as bad as I say it is so he won't go to the dentist or doctors to check it out. I am getting so stressed with him due to sleepless nights. The trouble is when your a married couple it doesn't seem right to sleep separately. But the way I feel at the moment I want to be sleeping in another room so I don't have to listen to it. I keep proding and pushing him everytime he clicks so he is getting a restless night also.I use to think his snoring was bad but I would rather listen to that than the loud clicking. I read one of the reviews about trying a mouth guard . I will buy the sports guards first and see if that will work. I hope that the person above who wrote a review about her husband gets his problem under control also. Good luck as we can't carrying on getting stressed like this.
I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and possible acid reflux I think this may be causing the clicking noise somehow.
check sleep apnea
My fiance is a clicker. The first time I heard it, I was looking for a clock that I could turn off. It took ac couple minutes at 3am to determine it was coming from her. I think it has to do with the uvula and throat size. I need to get her to try the mouth guard apparatus. I am glad to see that I am not the only person losing sleep over a "Clicker."
Try having a drink of water. I was once told it was your uvula [dangly thing in back of throat) being dry and sticking to the sides and clicking when breathing. It works for me.
I have the same exact problem. Is there an answer to this on this blog? Please help.
