Just experienced the freaky "what the hell is that?!?!?!?" discharge you all have described!  I immediately ran to computer to look up! Found this, feel better!  Same deal, had colposcopy 3 days ago and now today......after urinating, the disgusting matter was there! Freaked me out and NO my gyn never mentioned...said some bleeding/brownish but not "this". WTF? Hoping for good results, for all of you as well.

Had my colposcopy with biopsy Monday. They warned me about there being some discharge, but I didn't have any. But then I got home and it burned when I went to the bathroom. I called the doctor the next day and the nurse suggested I have a UTI. I had to explain, "No this is not a UTI. It's not burning at the urethra... it's like I have a chemical burn." Burning went away after a day or so....

but then today, I passed the Monsel's Solution in clumps. I was walking outside and it felt like when you have a dry tampon inside of you. The thing I pulled out was horrifying, not because of its size or color or smell... but because it had what I can only assume is the texture of my vaginal walls or something... like some weird alien pockmarked thing that looked like a brain coral. The first piece was about the size of a quarter coin.

About 30 minutes later, a second piece came out but it looked like an umbilical cord or something... about 4 or 5 inches long. Fortunately, I'd already Googled it and found out what it was or else I'd have thought I'd had a miscarriage.

I know not everywhere has this happen to them, but I'm probably going to tell my doctor that she needs to do a better job of mentioning this as a possible outcome because it's just that disturbing!

I had a colpo and biopsy done 3 days ago. 1 day after the procedure I found a small piece of the weird tissue like/chicken skin when I wiped my V after using the restroom. Freeked my out but I kind of brushed it off. What really freaked me out was when I was taking a shower the 2nd day after the procedure and I started washing my lady bits and I felt it coming out of me. And there was A LOT. *Get ready for the grossness* I had to pull it out...it would be in chunks and a minute later more would come out. I bet I could have covered the area of my hand (average sized female hand) with what came out in the shower. But oh no, my body still is not done...after my shower and the following day (today) I am still picking and wiping pieces out. I really wish my doctor would have warned me about this if so many women experience it after a cervical biopsy. I literally freaked in the shower, got out soaking wet, went straight for my phone and called my aunt who's a nurse. She told me it was okay and as long as it didn't hurt and it wasn't fresh blood. But thank you ladies for posting. I hope that my post helped...it did help me to vent a little lol. So I guess this is normal, even if the discharge is a lot. Thanks again!

So glad you answered the question I just had a biospy today and and I notice the discharge from the solution the only thing my doctor told me was not to put anything up there for 2-3 weeks and when I used the restroom wiping myself I felt something hard there and it kinda made me panic but since it has happen to a lot of us I feel that I should have no worries

Had colposcopy two days ago. Only brush biopsy, which shouldn't have caused much, if any, bleeding to be concerned about. Doctor did not tell me about Monsel's paste, nor discharge of same. Figured it out via internet research (and tell me exactly why these ridiculous doctors/nurses don't take a minute to explain all this??), when I noticed metallic smell, bits of nasty "goo", etc. I am concerned about getting all this out of me. A large piece was discharged today;  how long before it is completely out?  I'd appreciate comments on this, because I am completely disgusted by the stuff, don't really think it was necessary in my case (had no bleeding, no real invasive biopsy, etc. and had read articles that Monsel's is often not needed for brush biopsy).  This complete lack of appropriate communication from doctor is unacceptable and unprofessional.

Whew! Thank god I found this forum. I thought I was experiencing something much more serious an so happy to find out I'm not dying! I've love had a few colposcopies before but never had this freaky situation! Geez - I really wish they would warn you about this. I was totally freaked out and I definitely called the nurse hotline - who didn't help me at all either. Now I can go to sleep tonight and not worry - thanks!

Thank god for the internet! I have had biopsies on two separate occasions, once 6 months ago, and one in 2007, and I actually had a LEEP procedure following that, and I NEVER had anything come out of me like I just did today. If it wasn't for the very accurate descriptions I'm getting here, I'd be at the ER right now. The doctor gave no warning of this! Coffee grounds in a chicken skin like sac... Thought I had a miscarriage!

Same thing just happened to me except I just had the IUD put in and I'm not sexually active

I am so relieved I found this sight and reading all the posts!!! I was on the verge of tears and complete melt down. I had the procedure done Tuesday and was only told of coffee like grounds in urine. Used the bathroom today and the tissue like stuff just came out!! Thanks to so many of you willing to post, but I still wish the doctor had given me a better heads up!!

Thank you for the info, I thought something was wrong with me the way I've been smelling, it is really bad & my procedure was on Monday just gone, how long dose the smell last, should I go to the doctors or how bad is the smell meant to be before you know something is wrong but all the comments have put me at ease

I know this is a very late response, but I just now started looking for similar experiences! I haven't had any discharge, but just pulled a string of the tissue stuff out and freaked out. I also started digging around a bit on my own but got scared I was making it worse!! Did everything turn out ok with you?

Oh my gosh; somebody else has experienced the "chicken skin" I was seriously thinking "What in the world is coming out of me?!?!?!?!?!?" . . . HAHA GYN says it's "normal" and was just from the medicine they used to stop the bleeding. . .But wish they would have told me sooner!!!! HAHA

I just had this procedure done Thursday and today I had all these coming out of my vagina. A big piece of skin (like chicken leg skin) came out. Is it normal. Why is there such a big piece. So scary.

I had a colposcopy last Thursday. The doctor said I was having a lot of bleeding and needed to hold pressure. She did for about 5 minutes and then applied the Monsel's. She said I would have some black flaky discharge for a few days and that was it. She didn't tell me to be on pelvic rest, she didn't tell me it might take a week or longer to go away. I am a nurse and I know what old blood can look and smell like, but nothing in the world prepared me for this. The day after I could not sit on a hard surface because I felt like there was a wad of gauze packed in my vagina. I have basically had a week long period of squid ink discharge. Not brown- gray and even a dark greenish-black. The smell has been horrific!! It smells like sewer. I called the doctor's office two days ago and told the nurse my symptoms. She assured me all was normal and she would run it by my doc and call me back. The doc called and said this was all normal and to give it another week! This morning I woke up feeling very bloated. After breakfast I felt worse, so went to the bathroom to try to have a bowel movement. During that, I felt a ton of pressure at my vaginal opening so I grabbed some toilet paper and wiped. What happened next frightened me so much all my nursing education and logic flew right out the window!!!! I had a dozen inky, pea-sized balls rolling out and on the tp. Then, I felt something else. This time, it was more the size of a peach pit, gray- like Wal-Mart bag gray! It was hard, one side had a brown/red scab on it. I am not pregnant, nor is that even a possibility, but I could see how someone pregnant would freak out. I freaked out and called my best friend, a labor and delivery nurse, after she stopped laughing she told me it is all normal. My GYN knows I'm a nurse, so maybe she assumed I would know what to expect.
