I’ve been bleeding since August 2016... some days so heavy I feel like I can’t function. It’s affected my life hugely.. FINALLY... my doctor did a biopsy....because 1 1/2 years she’s finally worried (wtf)!

Seek further treatment from another GYN AND ASK EVERYQUESTION and be 100 percent upfront about ALL YOUR SYMPTOMS. I had some intcontinence and left that out.... now she’s concerned !! Ask questions and take daily notes of your bodily functions and how you feel. It’s sad but it the only way they will listen! Good luck!

I have had very heavy, constant bleeding for 10 months, followed by 5 years of intermittent heavy extended bleeding. Nonsense like 3 months on, 1 week off, 2 weeks on, 3 days off. Nightmare. I was able to have a baby last year. I don’t think it causes infertility. So long as your ovaries are working. The only things I believe to have helped me other than prayer, have been Non-synthetic progesterone cream made from yams, and pure lavender essential oil, and regular massage. I used the yam lotion to manually start and stop my cycle. I diffused lavender oil all night every night for a few months before I got pregnant. I really think it had something to do with it. It’s supposed to help balance hormones. It also helps calm you down.
I truly believe inflammation is the true root cause of this problem. I Became pregnant after continued massage therapy for a year, 1-4 appointments a month. I really believe massage combined with essential oils helped reduce overall inflammation in my body.
The problem recently started again when my baby turned 14 months old. So I am going to use massage, oils, yoga, diet, apple cider vinegar(as a beverage to reduce inflammation) , and turmeric milk, exercise, prayer, and yam cream to combat it. I know after 10 years of dealing with numerous doctors they really don’t know what to do for me outside of a hysterectomy, synthetic progesterone to regulate your cycle forever, which is a carcinogen, or an oblation procedure in which they remove the uterine lining permanently.
Good luck to you, and god bless you.

I’m 18 and have had my period for the past 8 months, I haven’t had a single day of not bleeding and I’ve been with my partner for a year now and I have no sex drive and it hurts way to much to have sex to the point I’m in tears, it’s a decent amount of blood as well and I got the contraceptive needle which caused this and my doctor has told me it’s completely normal but I know it’s not.

I have been bleeding pretty nonstop for the past 2 or 3 years, sometimes I get a week reprieve but then it starts right back up again. It ranges from regular to HEAVY. Crazy blood clots and everything. I am 24, never had sexual intercourse, and I just feel lost. Sometimes it will get so bad that I bleed through an ultra tampon in 20 minutes, it really affects my energy and it feels like my entire life revolves around this curse. I am saddened, but also relieved to have found so many women who are going through the same thing that I am. It's not right. I have an appointment with a gynecologist on the 31st; I am going to keep y'all updated. To those of you still on this forum who are still looking for answers: we will find them together.

I too have been suffering with prolonged periods, this is nothing new to me, since I got my period it has been abnormal it started around the age of 12 were I would have my period for a couple of weeks then wouldn’t get it for a few months or so, then as the years went by I started getting my period for longer I would go two months without it then have it for two to four months. I went to my doctor about it had many tests run, I wasn’t anemic, thyroid and hormones were normal, he started putting me on birth control, at first the pills worked maybe 6 months of normal periods then I would start getting my period at random while still on the pills, he tried switching me to a few types of pills I would do at least 6 months with good results and then they would stop working, then he came up with the brilliant idea to stop my periods just keep taking the pills and skip the placebos, this worked for a couple of months then my period started and wouldn’t stop for a few months, I became sexually active at age 25 around that time I noticed my periods seemed to become regular lasting no more than 7 days and a relatively light to moderate flow without any clots this was excellent i was so happy some normalcy, this lasted not quite a year and then started back to having my period for a month and going without for a few months, until about a month before my 27th birthday since then I have had my period constantly with the odd day of relief, my period seems to be inconsistent in flow going from very light to extremely heavy throughout the day with huge quarter sized clots. I haven’t noticed any cramps or back pain but I’ve been with it for so long (1year and 2 months at this point) I might not even notice anymore. This worries me because clearly my doctor has no clue how to help me, has no intent to send me to a specialist, my province offers monthly Pap test screening with a GYNECOLOGIST however I can never book anything because I always have my period, I am also blowing through loads of money buying pads and new underwear all the time as my periods at times are so heavy they soak through a heavy overnight pad within an hour. Please someone tell me you have some idea why this is happening.
Also I am overweight, yet I’m physically active.

I'm on 6 months right now, but I'm planning on going to a doctor soon. I have PCOS and I'm assuming it's related to that. Hoping to get on medroxy progesterone again and I think that will clear it up and balance my schedule. I cant take birth control due to another disorder I have, but medroxy seems to fix things. Before, I never had periods... Now I can stop.

I had a pap smear Nov. 20, 2017..results were normal. Light bleeding followed..normal after a pap smear. Then my period came about a week later...And stopped for 2 days after almost 2 months. Then started bleeding again. About ten days later bleeding stopped about a week. Had sex every day that week. And then bleeding resumed...and has been continuous. It's now Feb. 8, 2018 and in still bleeding. My bloodwork showed anemia. Obviously, because of this unending bleed. But, my transvaginal ultrasound showed up as completely normal..in fact healthy! My ovaries looked good. No, PCOS. so now doc ordered bloodwork to check my hormone levels. Still waiting on the results. In the meantime he prescribed spironolactone. I personally believe it's STRESS causing the constant bleeding. I bet my cortisol is through the roof. I read that STRESS can definitely have an effect/affect on menstruation. Hope this eases some of you.

I have experienced basically the same thing. A couple years ago I started a period that lasted 5 months. Doctors looked at me and said nothing was wrong and that I was still young I was still getting used to it which is bs. What I do is I just get birth control every 2-3 months in order to control it. In still trying to look into it but no one is saying anything. So I would recommend using birth control if it hasn't already been solved or recommended.

I can’t tell you how relieving it is to know I’m not the only one who’s been dealing with this... I’ve been on my period going on six months. Heavy bleeding for most of it. The closest I get to it stopping is a day or two of spotting, during which time I still have to wear a tampon or pad so I don’t ruin my underwear. I’m passing large clots and going through a box of overnight pads every week. I haven’t been to a doctor yet because I’ve been too nervous to deal with this and also don’t think my insurance will cover something like this??? I think it covers one “women’s wellness” visit per year, but it’s not a wellness visit anymore if I’m going in for a diagnosis of something. So messed up. I’m super concerned now, too, about the lack of urgency or concern that doctors seem to have??? ...I was honestly fine with just dealing with this later because it wasn’t more than a mild inconvenience, but I have a new boyfriend and would like to possibly be intimate with him and this is just super embarrassing and something I’m becoming more and more concerned about.

Hello Everyone! (UK)

Absolutely sympathize!
Here is my story and what is happening due to events:

Since I was 18 (now 22) I have had this nagging back pain, hair growth and all the other symptoms of PCOS. I was taken for an ultrasound and yet nothing showed. Fast forward a nagging four years of hassling doctors due to my age and being a woman they did an MRI on my back and showed I had disc degeneration of a 40-year-old and administrated epidural steroid injections. Though this relieved some of the pain it didn't explain why a healthy 22 year old has no spongy layer between the lumbar discs. Anyways I went for a blood test because I have been bleeding brown/black blood for nearly 5 months and prior to this I hadn't had a period for nearly a year (i do not take birth control, have a girlfriend so not pregnant either) and if my period occurs it lasts only a couple of days. So initially I thought it was just expelling old blood.

I told my mother and she burdened me with the news that at 19 she had abnormal cells down there that needed removal. Well, that sent alarm bells and I told my GP. My blood test results came back and came to realize I have had Thrombocytosis (high platelet and calcium) for 4 years without any doctor looking into it until a temp was covering. My vitamin D levels were also a measly 18 so was put on 1000IU D3, one a day. Still bleeding. So off I go to get another ultrasound hoping there are answers that I have needed but alas nothing on my scans. So now I'm at a bit of a loss, they won't give me a pap/smear as I am not 25 (yeah I don't know why either). I haven't been referred to a gyno, I have a haemotologist appt on the 10th April 2018 and now I need to make another DP appointment.

I know I have no answers for you ladies as of yet but I have to ask, has anyone had an ultrasound come back completely negative and yet still bleeding? I don't have PCOS, fibroids etc that they can see from the scan anyways. Of course, I worry about the dreaded C word and due to the timescale, I am not very hopeful. Has anyone else had these problems and have any advice or answers? I'm not anemic etc it's just platelet and WBC.
