Hi All,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
It is sad to hear so many of you going through what I am experiencing every winter. Originally I come from a country with a tropical climate, 15 years ago when I moved to Sydney Australia I started to experience these itchy attacks and continue on to present date. About 5 years ago while I was searching for a cure of this online I have come across a web site people describing the issue and one blogger comment he/she is taking medication using for winter allergy for this problem. I tried the same and I got some relief. Like you all experience I too get these itchy feeling all over my body, with the medication still feeling the itchiness but mostly likely lower part of the body and for relatively short time of period and the pain is manageable. If you want to give it a go ask your local pharmacist something for winter allergy and try on and let us know the results.
I am having this same itching symptom. My parents told me that it can be diet related in what you eat. Basically your body needs to be detoxed with water and fruits. I find that satsumas help reduce it, bananas too. I think it's the liver that's not breaking down the toxins properly and the body sends it to the skin pores....except that the skin pores react with irritation as the toxins are foriegn elements (the itching is actually the body's defense kicking in).
Basically watch what you eat, avoid junk food, eat more fruits (especially satsumas as they seem to help reduce the itching) and excersie yourself to a sweat....even if it means running on the spot in your house. It may also help to get a humidifier in your bedroom then turn the heat UP so that you break into a sweat while you're sleep...so that by the time you wake up you're sweating like it was a summer night and there's no itching for the day.
I am going to also try magnesiun intake as somebody else mentioned.
I think I'm onto something.
My problem started 3 years ago. Before that, I mostly lived in parts of the world where the climate was warm, and the winters not really cold. And then I moved to a country with cold winters. And that's when it started.
The symptoms of this have been largely discussed so I'll go straight to the point.
This year, I HAVEN'T HAD A SINGLE CASE of the "crazy winter itch". When winter came, I was a bit shocked to see that I could go to the gym, have a cup of tea, engage into strenuous activities without triggering the allergy.
And so, I started to trace back what I was doing differently this year. And this is what I found out:
1. I'm more careful about my diet now, I always try to have a balanced diet.
2. I regularly take warm baths, although I did during the other winters too, but this year, I started to take warm baths a bit before winter was actually here and it got too cold.
3. I'm exercising more, but I don't really think it's the exercising more part. Because during the other winters too I was exercising, but not much, since the allergies made it rather difficult for me.
What I think made the trick is that, this year I was regularly exercising BEFORE, this is very important, BEFORE, winter was actually here. So winter came along and found me with that exercise regimen.
And also, when I'm in the gym, I sweat more, and I sweat easily when I'm not in the gym, compared to the other winters where I could sweat only in the gym with strenuous exercise.
And I also think that it's psychological, I noticed last year that the more I feared to go out, to get nervous, to do anything that would excite my body, the more and worse those allergy were. So I made my peace with it, decided that although it was a bit embarrassing, it was just an allergy, and that usually when I trigger a very big one in the morning, they don't usually occur in the day. So, I made my peace with it last winter and decided to not worry about them anymore, or even think about finding a "cure". I thought to myself if it came on its own, it'll eventually go on its own, not necessarily true, but it psychologically helped me, to take the attacks as they came, instead of living my life with the anticipation of the next embarrassing attack.
And guess what? I didn't take any pills, nor did I drink anything out of the ordinary! Lol, maybe more caffeine? Since I work for extended period of time. But the point is, I haven't had a single attack this year! ^_^
Try what you think will work for you. But this is a message from someone recovering from the "crazy winter itch", someone who wants to give his two cents in helping others overcome their health problems. Take care y'all.
I'll keep you posted.

guys i really need help :'(
Hi there,
I also suffer from this for the last 12years (Ill make 27 this month). When it first started i just wanted to throw my self in to the ground and scratch my skin until i had no skin, and i still do sometimes.
I found that if you sweat day in day out you will only feel it lightly and it will go away almost instantly. But i sometimes, or rather almost all the times i don't feel like go for a run, especially because of the 2degrees cold outside, besides its hard to sweat at that temperature.
But when i go outside i seriously regret that i didn't went for a run. And the more time i pass without sweating the more severe the "needle" attack is!!
Anyway thats how i been surviving this 12 years, and for me its not only in the winter its every season except summer, only summer is good for me! (I live in Portugal BTW)
And for those of you saying that we just don't take enough water, your an id**t, read the initial blogs and you will see that your wrong, for those who say its diet, your just wrong. And for those that say that we are dirty, we don't taken enough baths, your an as****e! i take a shower everyday! For those who say is magnesium deficiency, well ill try that one, hope its true!
I thought i was alone in it for the last 12years, i'm glad (but also not glad) i read this post today and found out that i am not.
