I agree. I had septoplasty surgery at 1245 this afternoon and it's now almost 5 p.m. So far there is zero pain (the IV for the anaesthetic hurt more than the surger) and I feel totally normal other than the packing, which I will remove tomorrow morning. My husband had the same surgery eight years ago with the same surgeon and had a steak for dinner the same night. Maybe it's a matter of degree and I am not in any way minimizing anyone's experience - the surgeon, the severity, the uniqueness of each of us comes into play - so I am only commenting on my procedure. No idea of any results, but the anxiety leading up to it was far worse than the actual deed. Everyone has a different set of symptom and different experiences, and mine was (so far) exceptionally easy.

Dear all, this is a super helpful post. My surgery was five days ago and included septoplasty, turbinate reduction, and widening of sinus passages, in maxillary, ethmoid, and frontal sinuses. The first day, but the anesthesia can certainly make you nauseous, pages no big deal, at least for me - whoops, that should say the pain was no big deal. The pain and discomfort started around date to when the anesthesia really wore off - sorry, that should say day two (I'm using voice to text and as a guest somehow can't go back and fix typos.). It is definitely a bit of a rough surgery, but if you stay ahead of the pain, it is doable. some people are really lucky enough to have a real walk in the park, which is certainly awesome for them. if your experience is more like mine, its really hard, but you can see little improvements in things like throat pain, back pain, head pain, and congestion every day.  little by little i am starting to feel like myself again.  i'm sure it will be worth it but it is certainly a bumpy road to recovery.  i wish all very well - let yourself be a baby on this one.  its a rough road but as I said, doable, at least if you are lucky enough not to have complications.

I had this surgery. Mine I doubt went welk but I mostly blame my self for it. The packing made me sneez a lot and would come out eventually. I was already grumpy so I removed them the first night. The surgery itself depends on how your surgeon does it. Mine was carried out under local antehesia and it hurt like hell, torture infact. But then again, I wish I had forced my surgeon to knock me out. I was just to excited to get it over with to pass my medical exam for aviation. The shots hurt in the beginning. But im assuming if you're knocked out it would NOT hurt at all and all you would have to do is put up with the annoying packing for 24 or 36 hours

I had my deviated septum surgery over a year ago. I felt so hot all the time, threw up a huge amount of blood and was scared to death. Went to see ent for follow up, gave the spray, then next appt. gel. I tried the sprays , gels, etc. He says it looks good. I continue to tell him I still have nose bleeds and stuffiness , no response. If any trouble call me back. I am so fed up with it all. I still have the nose bleeds, stuffiness and headaches. I had a terrible experience with not waking up,I ended up in ICU til the next day. Did not get any answers from anyone. Just my ent said ow I see you had some trouble waking up. I am so disgusted with doctors today, I am now terrified of undergoing any surgery any more if needed.  So what is to be done since I'm still having all these symptons. Is this normal, someone please tell me.   I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone. I feel worse now since it was done.

My ENT wants to discuss this surgery for my problems, however, is it absolutely necessary? Is there a safer, natural way of taking care of this problem? Surgery is my last resort!

I had the surgery on Tuesday and it's now Sunday. I purposely did not read or look at anything beforehand. I just showed up to the hospital and had it done. Your mileage may vary but it was not that bad for me. I didn't have and packing or any splints afterwards. I bought a few bottles of saline and have been spraying them up my nose every hour. I was nervous but the surgery wasn't that bad. When I woke up, my mouth was super dry and my nose felt like it was on fire. They gave me meds for the pain. An hour later I went home. The first night, I slept sitting in a recliner. I had to wear gauze under my nose to catch the draining blood the first 2 days. I feel tired like I have the flu and have just been laying around taking it easy. My Dr says I will be off from work for 2 weeks. It has been uncomfortable but not like a major surgery such as open heart or something like that.

I had a c section came home 2 days later and cleaned, drove and no pain meds. My sinus surgery was awful I was down for 2 weeks. Kelly is absolutely correct on how it is. Did you have a deviated septum or just sinus surgery?

I had this done yesterday. I had burning and pain last night and took my pain killer. I only took them 3 times because they made my heart race. I then went to 1000 mg of Tylenol and today I need nothing. I have a sling under my nose , no packing. It really wasn't that bad. I even breathed through my nose last night. The worse part for me was my throat from the tube being down it. Dont be afraid! !!! ASK YOUR DOCTOR NOT TO PACK IT BUT FOR A SLING.

I had surgery to correct diviated septum on Tuesday. He did not need to break my nose. It is not as bad as I thought. Just frustrating because of the packing, still can't breathe yet. Pain has been minimal.
