Hi Bobby, I know this is a very old post, though I'm very curious to know how/if your pressure/pain resolved. I too am experience similar discomfort.

Mine was due to colon polyps. Get a colonoscopy. It's easy despite what a lot of drama queens will tell you. If you are under 50 in the US, you have to tell them you are symptomatic to get the insurance to pay for it.

Thank you. To be clear for everyone on this post though...

I'm a 40 yr old male. I've been experiencing discomfort (not pain) in a very specific spot in my lower left abdomen. It feels like a tightening/buzzing feeling to the left and slightly above my belly button. The discomfort is brought on by sitting more than anything else. I sleep on my back at night with no discomfort. Seems when I'm active, there's no discomfort. My left lower back muscles will tighten around the discomfort when I have it. I experience this discomfort daily (for the last 3 weeks). No other symptoms like fever. Bowel movements have been consistent and soft with no sign of blood.

I've had bloodwork and a urine test. All clear. I'm headed for a PSA next week to check Prostate since my family has a history.

To clarify your reply, you've had similar symptoms, had a colonoscopy, had polyps removed, and the discomfort or pain has gone away? If yes, how long have you been discomfort/pain free? Thank you.

It has been 3-4 years I would guess. Was lower left slightly below my belly button. Radiated to left testicle and back at times. Was also better when I laid on my back. Would "go away" when I was in bed at night. Multiple blood tests. Ultrasound. Urologist. The urologist sent me to gastrointerologist who did the colonoscopy.

Thank you, I will seek a colonoscopy and intend to post back with results following.

I hope you get some answers! The urologist told me the only things in that area are urinary/reproductive, colon, or muscular.

PSA at 0.6. Prostrate doesn't seem to be a factor. Still experiencing same discomfort symptoms above. At the doctors today to request a colonoscopy.

My last update was 8/29, date of my last visit with primary care physician. It's 9/5 and my PCP decided best I have a CT first, though he did schedule an appointment with a Gastroenterologist for later this week. I was prepared to do the CT on 8/29 though the hospital said they needed a pre-authorization from my insurance, which still has not happened. In the meantime, the discomfort continues to grow more noticeable, and is distinctively brought on by sitting and relieved most of the time by standing/moving or lying flat on my back. Still no pain and no new symptoms.

Update 9/9/16 - CT done yesterday, results today were clear. Nothing abnormal. Met with Gastro today. Said they can do a colonoscopy for peace of mind. I'm weighing the benefit vs cost of colonoscopy. May just give it a few more weeks and see if things change. Dr. Still thinks this is muscular, and 4 weeks may not have been enough time for it to heal.

I only had to pay my deductible for the colonoscopy because the doctor who ordered it said it was diagnostic. If cost is a concern I might try to get a fecal blood test done first and wait awhile if it is negative, to see if it goes away. If blood is found, then I would think your insurance would pay for the colonoscopy. What I have learned is that colon polyps grow slowly, so you can probably wait a bit fairly safely. But they do have to be large to cause symptoms. This might not even be your problem, but if it turns out to be you need to get them out. My gastro said if I had waited until I was 50 it most likely would have been bad. Again, my symptoms were lower left abdominal pressure which sometimes radiated into my lower back and left testical. It was honeslty kind of hard to describe. Just a sort of sensation down there that wasn't normal. It would resolve laying on my back at night. Keep us posted. Good luck.

Thank you, your reply is valuable to me and hopefully all future readers of this post. After sleeping on it, my thoughts are to wait two months to see if this resolves or changes in any way. Colonoscopy cost is not a factor. My understanding (like yours) is that polyps grow slowly, and since the CT scan did not reveal anything abnormal, I believe I have the time to see if this is muscular. Unless things change, a couple months seems reasonable. Thank you also for reconfirming your symptoms. I share an identical set of symptoms with the exception that I haven't experienced any discomfort in my testicle. My discomfort (not pain) is isolated to my lower left abdomen in a very specific spot, and my lower left back muscles seem to tense/tingle around it up as high as directly below my left shoulder blade. Will post with any changes / resolution.

Did you find anything out?

Hello,

I have the same symptoms as the original poster. Had a bunch of blood work, all negative. CT, Xrays, Colonoscopy, Kidney and bladder ultrasound. They found some calcification that are probably stones, I have diverticulosis, but not diverticulitis, and had a polyp removed. So far I still have the discomfort. Still need to go to an urologist and maybe a Hernia specialist. I have noticed that the veins in my left testicle seem thicker than on my right. Might indicate a varicocele. Varicose veins run in the family so who knows.

It's been a full year since I've been on this site. I'm replying to my last post about 1 year ago. In my case, I was diagnosed by PT to have an engaged muscle in my abdomen that wasn't releasing. The experienced PT said she sees it often with car accident victims. I never had a serious car accident, though I do believe the diagnosis was accurate. I was given stretches that I performed every morning (religiously). The discomfort subsided after a couple of months, and completely disappeard a half year after starting. I started working out with free weights again, though I now stretch before and after in an attempt to avoid re-injury. I hope this is helpful to some on this post.
