I started experiencing a dizzy lightheaded feeling about 7 months ago.  Dr. said it is my ears but has yet to send me to an ENT Dr.  I have noticed it is worse the week before my period and during my period.  I only have about 1 week a month where I feel good.  I am keeping a log to track it.  I do think it is hormone related but sometimes it causes severe anxiety.  Sometimes I think there has to be something seriously wrong.  I am a nurse and I can't stand this anymore.

I am right there with you Sandi. I have been having this problem on and off for a couple of years. I have TMJ and gotten some relief with my ears with a splint, however I still have problems with my ears and dizziness. It is worse around my cycle.

I have had tests for hormone levels and mine are fine. I have seen an allergist, ENT and nothing. My doctor tells me my eustatian tubes are not working properly. My ears alway feel plugged and are constantly popping, but never feel like they open up.

The last thing my doctor has me try was prednisone. I was on it for a week and it did help a little bit, but no real relief.
Please keep us updated if you figure anything out and I will do the same.

I'm not sure if you're still experiencing the same symptoms but I thought I'd inquire. I too have been having the same exact symptoms as you. I am also 42 now (your post was a while back I'm assuming). I never really had an issue until after giving birth to my third child 4 months ago. I'm older, started over again; have a 10 and 9 year old. Anyway, I have had to leave work a few occasions since giving birth but this is the first time I had to leave while on my cycle. I teach Elementary school so the stress can be overwhelming sometimes. I'm about to call a doctor to see if there's something he can do to help me. I hate feeling like I'm tired all the time, headaches everyday, and lack of motivation to eat well. Thanks for your post; it did make me feel better knowing I was'nt the only one going through this!

It's probably a swollen uterus or anemia- too much blood loss before. you really need to go to a doctor if this is one of this

Makes me feel better that this at least is not a completely uncommon problem.

I'm somewhat prone to dizziness in general.  When it's hot in the summertime I'm a bit more lightheaded when I'm out in the heat, so I pay special attention to drinking lots of water in the summer.

I became pregnant a few months ago, which unfortunately ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks.  My predominant pregnancy symptom even before I missed my period was insane dizziness.  To the point that I couldn't drive some days.  150+oz of water daily seemed to be the only thing that could keep me on my feet.  That resolved, interesting, 2 days before I miscarried.

Now, I'm 2 months out from the miscarriage.  Had a particularly long follicular phase that included light/moderate bleeding for 30 days, a ruptured ovarian cyst, and during which my uterine lining thickened to the point I was offered a second D&C, which I declined.  I started this menstrual cycle 2 days ago and feel so insanely dizzy.

Not sure the cause of the dizziness at all, but makes me feel better to think it's likely just part of it.

Same here I kept a log and even went as far as seeing an Endocrinologist and she said the same thing. My vertigo is so bad I can't even drive any more but that week before my period is the worst it is constant and my neck hurts too.

Hello all, I have this issue too and have had it since my youngest child was born. She is now twelve. I have been diagnosed with othostatic intolerence or P.O.T.S (postural othostatic tachycardia syndrome). The lady who posted that she gets dizzy etc in heat and summer should ask for a check for this since this is a major symptom of orthostatic intolerence. I don't want to worry anyone but it is a possibility since it is more common than most people think and affects mostly women. It is also worse around the menstrual cycle due to hormones and blood loss. Look it up on the internet and if your symptoms seem similar ask for a tilt table test to check it out. All the best I know it is an awful feeling x

Its ur period sweetheart...dont worry too much about it or it could make it seem worse...i am dizzy as we speak lol but i also have 2 cysts in my left ovary. im chalkin mine up to stress n bleeding n mental exhaustion also have ur ears checked if you get alot of sinus infections it can cause ur ears to be outta wack leading to vertigo.

Started researching today on the dizziness during mentrual cycle.  I had it so bad yesterday...every minute of the day I felt like I just got of that ride the Tea Cups.  It was horrible, have not met anyone who gets this, until I ran into this website.  Did  a lot of research today, have been to several doctors through out the years and came across no help.  The dizziness is just getting worse and worse as months go by.   What I have learned through the internet has been to take iron daily not just during your cycle.  Has anyone had any success with iron supplements???

hey girls, i have the same issue with the dizziness when i get my period every month its the same thing. i can actually tell when im getting my period only when i start getting dizzy, other then that i never know when i might get it. as long as i have had my period iv never had a normal one i could go 3 to 6 months with out one and then get one out of no where that lasts any where from 1 week being the norm to my longest period 4 months. but in all this time other then those 4 crazy months iv never felt dizzy no matter how bad the cramps where or how big or small the flow was. but what makes me wonder is if there is any correlation to the dizzy spells i have every time i get my period to when i had my car crash about a year and half ago. now i know these are two different things but in this crash i had a concussion witch makes me wonder if it might be some kind of change in a persons life or a traumatic event that could have happened that could have triggered a chemical or hormonal change to cause the spells. because i have noticed that only after my crash a 1 1/2 year ago that this change accrued. has any one noticed a change in there lives when this started that could have physically caused a change.
