I have postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). Basically, my body's autopilot doesn't deal well with standing or sitting upright. The vasoconstriction and other mechanisms fail to keep my blood pressure and heart rate and oxygenated blood distribution anything like sensible. Walking or running is bad, or upright bicycling, or other upright exercise, but standing in line or climbing stairs is awful. I also have a related issue called vasovagal syncope (VVS) or neurocardiogenic syncope (NCS), among other names. Again, the body's autopilot is just mishandling things. In this case, things like getting enough blood to the brain even when I yawn, or have a bowel movement. I may get lightheaded and tingly and limp -- and hopefully, it stops there. I haven't had full syncope in a few years, since my doctors and I figured out what I had and learned how to better manage these conditions. It takes some trial and error, as everyone's body is so different. For me, what helps is, lots of water; a high-salt diet; properly fitted medical graduated compression hose; a lot of careful exercise, including some pilates and some pool exercises;: resting early and often; and a couple of prescription meds. Many other conditions can cause lightheadedness and even syncope (fainting), but these may be worth considering.

yeah,,,, ive read your problem and its seems as if its not actually something to be worried about,,, i also have the same experience, but yesterday i went to the doctor to have myself checked out and this doctor is a specialist in motor and cardiac senses and i addressed him with this issue and he told me that it is due to wrong posture that i take while siting down or sleeping which normally leads to shortage of oxygenated blood going to the brain.. so when i stand up the blood rushes through to the brain, so i just need to change my sitting habits and sleeping postures.... he also said that it could also be a result of an improper diet,,, and told me to lay off the junk food for a little while. and it actually he4lped and i personally think that doing enough exercises and drinking plenty of water is also another solution... thanks if thats of any assistance

Yes, that's what I figured because I slouch a lot and so I did ponder on the fact that I probably get it because of that. I eat fine and get 7-8 hours of sleep, so I think the only way I would have it is because, well, slouching makes it so blood can't circulate properly, and after a while it makes you wanna stretch, doesn't it? So when you do and the blood so suddenly starts circulating well again the sudden rush of blood all around the body (especially the brain) causes the dizziness and light-headedness, which IN TURN causes the disconnected feeling and the tinny sound stuff and the darkened vision. I'm glad a doctor told you this so I could confirm this, because that's what I suspected but it's nice to hear it from an official source.

Okay well it's happening a lot and I'm really starting to get worried, I ask people around me and they think I'm playing or being stupid, when I get up from sitting down and stretch my head starts spinning and I loses all of my strength, the first time it happened I collapse and hit my bead pretty hard but because I can sometimes see it coming so to speak I just put my self to the floor so I don't hurt my self, when I'm on the floor even though my eyes are open I can't see anything and I stop breathing, but it's not like I'm suffocating it's like I'm holding my breath but I'm not doing it on purpose, also when this is happening I feel something though my entire body that I don't know how to explain but it's not a bad feeling, it's just really wired because it's like nothing I've felt before, that's why I can't explain it. All this last for about 10 to 15 seconds and then it's like normal and when I get up I don't feel any different. It happens once or twice a week. Can anyone help me explain what's wrong?

alright just read page 1 so dont get mad if someone alredy said this, but of course it is your blood pressure when u been sitting down and stand up to fast the blood in your body need to adjust so try get up a little slower and take a few more breaths, breathing is key.

This is exactly what happened to me, except I didn't shake. I stoop up to Walk to my sink to brush my teeth. I had a HUGE head rush, and I grabbed onto the counter for balance. Then I snapped back into consciousness on the other side of the room. I didn't remember a of it until I hit the ground. it was like a cut seen in a movie: one minute I'm standing up, and boom I'm in the ground without even remembering the fall. It wasn't until AFTER I fell when I remembered anything though. What I remember is losing all control over my body and speed walking very fastly to the other side of my room. But I still don't remember falling.

This exact thing happends to me. I can't find anything on it. Today I stretched and stood and completely fell down but it was so remote, I was processing all of it but like a dream? I observed it and wondered if I was watching TV... then I relized I had almost burned my hair in the fireplace and had hit my head twice in the fall.... I don't know what to do.

im 15 and this has been happening to me for about as long as i can remember. i asked my friend if this happened to him to an he said it didn't.

it usually feels like a pulsing feeling in my head, my vision gets very dark and i fall forwards. sometimes i actually purposly fall on my bed in a dramatic and funny fashion just because if im dying i want it to look funny when they find my body lol. also it helps to try to be aware of the things around you i find, such as foccusing on moving your fingers in a certain order and than mimic it on the other hand in the opposite way.
