My husband has been on prescribed methadone just over 3 years now and we are finding ways to make him quit, tapering has already started so at first he was taking a dose of 210mg and now he’s taking 80mg. Do you have any other suggestions on how he can withdraw with less pain as possible. We are also planning to start a family soon. Thank you

Hi, my fiancé and I want to have a baby. He is on methadone at 110mgs for almost 2 years. He's paranoid to detox. He thinks his sperm is fine and won't listen to me to get it tested or what the doctors say about not having sex daily and to wait about at least a week prior to my ovulation to allow sperm build up. And the methadone greatly caused decrease in fertility. Can you help with how he can get off the methadone? I've gotten off it before and he won't take my advice either he's afraid. He's never been on it before so he doesn't know what it's like to come off it. But with fertility he's sure it's me. But it's not. I had a child with no problems, but I'm getting checked anyway. Im his third relationship in his life, and the prior two they tried having a baby and it never happened. The first one they were not on drugs, and they never conceived after over a year of trying. And she already had a child. The second one they were on heroin then (which is crazy to me to try to have a baby then even though they agreed they would stop the min they found out if she was pregnant. But they tried for about 3 years, and didn't start the heroin until later in the relationship. But then she cheated on him during the drug use, and she got pregnant from it. I mean I know every man doesn't want to think it's them. So we both want the methadone to be done ASAP. What can he do? Please any advice I will make sure he tries. Especially since once he's off it, his sperm can be healthy again (unless there's another reason causing it). Which is what I'm afraid of since he was not able to get either girl pregnant on or off drugs.
