Tyramine. MTHFR gene. I have it too.
Candida is prob. Culprit.
The pain you are all describing behind your ear is most likely from your PAROTID GLAND. It is your largest salivary gland. It is NORMAL to have this happen when a flavor is sharp or extreme.
Thank you. I drank OJ and the pain has lessened considerably.
Alcohol hurts when it comes in contact with sensitive or exposed tissues. If you have ear issues such as ear infections and or have had tooth decay and have had root canals then the alchol in your blood may be going to those areas. This is just my experience with the pain...I've had ear issues and had my wisdom teeth compacted etc...something inside is still sensitive....imagine it like inside cavities that are not getting worse but you spill alchol or cold water.
I have the exact same thing.. was it lymphoma?
I seriously doubt it in most cases... allergic reaction most cases, like mine anyway.. google and web md make everyone think they are dying from the most mundane things. For example...
Ailment name: common paper cut.

I have your answer! Alcohol AND cold water are both causes of bony growth in the ear canal. It's strange no one knew this because I've known it for 20 years, maybe because I've had three major ear surgeries and have had this confirmed with the specialist at The House Ear Clinic, Los Angeles, CA. Sadly, my ear has been draing clear fluid for two days since I woke up in the middle of the night from horrible sharp pain in both ears after two really strong mai tais. Now that is even more rare cerebral fluid or I hope to God middle ear infection.
Drinking Smirnoff now and my ears are hurting so bad
Yes! I just realized that it has to be alcohol. My ear aches had stopped and had a couple drinks with dinner and now the pain is back! It's worse when I lay down - is that the case for anyone else?
So I am really curious if you found what the problem is because I have same thing: one-sided neck pain below ear, ear pressure/pain, ringing in the ears, some blood in the throat/nose when I irrigate nose, and this all happens or is made worse by the consumption of alcohol. Please please tell me that you have found what it is.
Vitamin C solution worked for me too. I popped a vitamin C tablet and the pain went away immediately.
Me too. Only wine does it. and not every time. Just had two glasses of white and the pain started. I don't get it. Cheese and wine can do it too.
i can see that, but, in my case, it's further up behind my ear, and feels like a throbbing pain, similar to if someone were squeezing my testicles... but... behind my ears... it's just about as painful. when swallowing, it makes it worse temporarily, when touching the area, it feels inflamed. sourdough bread does it, beer does it, some pizza does it, especially with rootbeer, and i can ONLY drink distilled liquors. vodka especially. but if i ate a slice of bread with that vodka, i'd be rolling around on the ground screaming into a pillow. if i have 1 sip of beer, it will do it for about 15 minutes. if i have beer battered foods, i'm SOL. the more of the "bad stuff" (whatever it is) that i intake, the longer it lasts and the stronger it is. If i were to drink a 6 pack of beer, i'd literally be going to the emergency room, and they'd have no idea what to give me.... they have no idea... any time i ask doctors, they say "well don't drink beer then"... but it's not just beer. it's maybe a certain type of yeast, or a certain type of gluten, or gluten mixed with certain yeast, etc. i can eat bread, i can drink distilled liquor, but i sure as hell can't do both at the same time. When i decide to drink, i have to be sure that i haven't eaten ANYTHING for at least an hour before i have my first drink. and it's not just bread. it can be almost anything and alcohol. there's something in ALL foods in some amount, that will affect me if mixed with alcohol. i'm 35 now, and discovered this when i was 19.... still haven't completely figured it out.
I just read this because the last two times I have drank beer, long island tea ( same night,) then wine tonight; Both times I have bad ear pains that start at the bottom of my ears to my ear canal and through my
