I hope someone can help me out. I have just gone thru a bad bout with insomnia. I have been on quite a few medications thru the last 4 years. The insomnia came about just as I was comming down with some type of bacterial infection. The doctor put me on cipro. I have been on it for about 5 days now. Yesterday was very bad, evey time I walk i get these "shocking" feelings thru my head and body. I am also suffering from bad back problems and have been on everything from fentenyl, percocet, and I am comming off of a few weeks of methadone. I have been off the metadone for about 3- 4 weeks now, and the doctor has put me on Gabentin. I was to take it 3 times a day, but could not tolerate it ,so he told me just take it at night for now. I feel like i am going to crawl out of my skin on some days. This whole feeling of getting the "electric shock feeling" is very scary.I hope someone out there may have some type of an answer for what this might be. PLEASE HELP.

This makes so much sense to me. Food triggered migraines run in my family. I never thought they were happening to me but I have gotten this electric shock feeling on and off all my life. I notice it many time if I have dairy (yogurt or cottage cheese) at night. I will wake up with the electric shock sensations.
Can anyone help me with these electrical shocks throughout my body, including my head, PLEASE CASSIE MABANK,TX
I realize that this post was from 2 years ago, but who knows, you might see it. It sounds to me like Conversion Disorder. When you hold in stress or strong emotions they can come out in REAL but unexplainable symtoms including your nervous system. Some even have seizures (real seizures) but there is no health problem that can be found to cause them. You should look it up. So sorry about your past.
It is actual electrical current. Ask your doctor for a device to montior it on your body. you are being harrassed. This is the "current" way it is done. It wil age you prematurely and you will eventually have other health problems as a result of it. Again, get your doctor to come up with a way to monitor it. It is done at a distance so you cannot see who is doing this to you. The current is on the electrical magnetic spectrum which the naked eye cannot see. Get your doctor to monitor it! Good luck.
I too have this. I do not take anti depressants. I do have sleep apnea. All Dr.'s seem to shrug their solders at this problem. It wakes me up and some time I can't get back to sleep. The only thing that seems to help (sometimes) is Benadryl. I am not sure it relives the symptoms. However, it relaxes me and I think it puts me in to a deeper sleep which seem to help.
I know this is an old thread but I cannot even tell you how relieved I was when I read this- I had tears in my eyes. I have been on the computer searching for 2 hours about this shocking/zapping feeling that started last night, I seriously thought I was losing it... On top of everything else I constantly worry about with my anxiety to add another symptom scared me to death. I also take Pristiq and when I saw this post and knowing I missed my dose yesterday so perhaps it is just a short-term side effect brings me a great sense of relief. I am crossing my fingers this is the answer to this scary and mysterious feeling. Thank you so much for posting that. Kim
My life is 40 years old, and she has been complaining, of getting a shocking feeling all over her body!. What is happening to her?
My sister was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease at the age of 40. Eight years later she experienced pyschosis along with "zapping" pain in her head, shoulders, arms. The Neurologist adjusted her meds and she was fine for three years. Today, she is experiencing the zapping again and is talking about an electric current. Due to her previous pyschosis, we haven't been sure what is real with her and what is not. I've been doing some research, and her zapping seems to be an effect of her Parkinson's Disease. Medications can help. Check out Central Pain Syndrome.
How is this remotely helpful or appropriate? You kind of sound like an asshole. Why would you be trolling through here if that's how you feel about it? Considering that you don't know anyone on here and are posting anonymously your opinion about what people should or should not post on the internet or how they should feel or live their lives means absolutely nothing. It's childish. Perhaps you should consider taking your own advice and 'move on with your life'.
YOU GET A LIFE BUD!!!' MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR DAMN NOSE OUT OF IT!!! YOU HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT'S GOING ON IDIOT CASSIE, MABANK,TX
