I hope someone can help me out. I have just gone thru a bad bout with insomnia. I have been on quite a few medications thru the last 4 years. The insomnia came about just as I was comming down with some type of bacterial infection. The doctor put me on cipro. I have been on it for about 5 days now. Yesterday was very bad, evey time I walk i get these "shocking" feelings thru my head and body. I am also suffering from bad back problems and have been on everything from fentenyl, percocet, and I am comming off of a few weeks of methadone. I have been off the metadone for about 3- 4 weeks now, and the doctor has put me on Gabentin. I was to take it 3 times a day, but could not tolerate it ,so he told me just take it at night for now. I feel like i am going to crawl out of my skin on some days. This whole feeling of getting the "electric shock feeling" is very scary.I hope someone out there may have some type of an answer for what this might be. PLEASE HELP.

Hi Guest, I have had spinal meningitis, i was in the hospital for just under 2 months, my family was told i would not make it out of the hospital, I never had the shocking feeling i am having right now, i remember very little about that time, except the MRI's and spinal taps i had daily, Mri twice a day, spinal meningitis usaully can only be found through spinal tap, MRI to see how bad brain is swelling up, i do remember the awful pain i was in, spinal meningitis is NOT a allergy, and benadryl does not get rid of swelling , benadryle is a antihistamine, Not a antiinflamitory,
This sounds like your vertibrae is pinching your spinal cord. Get seen by someone who knows - right now! Yes, I'll take my own advice too, as mine seems to be worse depending on the angle of my head or back - sitting is awful. W all have fear, but really we just need to have more information. Thanks for sharing and let us know how it goes, ok?
admittedly i only read the first page, but ive just gotten these the last few days and today consistently while walking and using my hands, at first I chalked it up to wearing heels for 12 hrs a day for the first time in years but lately my activity level has been high, i cant seem to sleep longer than 5 hrs, keep forgetting to take my zoloft, and to be ive been drinking a lot (partly as a substitute to taking klonopin) and recently started smoking regularly again. I just wanna know wtf is causing it so I can make it stop :/
This called Electromagnetic Fields, I live in an apt, and get it from an upstairs neighbor.  These shocks hurt, and are on purpose because I can hear the person moving around.  Best thing that I found to help me is grounding sheets or grounding wrist bans.  earth.com.  Really work. Your bare skin has to touch for it to work.  You are not crazy, the person that is causing your pain is crazy.  Good luck.
I have the same symptoms and I am also coming off anti depressants, i was taking wellbutrin and zoloft only for like 6 months. Does it ever stop? or is this perment damage?
My brother is suffering for this for 3 years, he said I'm not crazy sister this is very painful. He is in Prison he even thinks they are torturing him and he said they put something inside his body to give him shocks. Is very hard to understand because I don't feel what he feels but he is begging me for help what can I do. He said to request a MRI to see why he is getting this. He was in Mental Health due depression and I think this is a medication withdrawal as stated in previous comments.
I been reading all the replys and it seems that drugs seem to be the problem? I'm getting the exact same feelings as you guys since I taken ketamine a couple days ago I get the elictric impulse throughout my hole body at first it was scary, I didn't want to tell my freinds because they wouldn't understand but is ketamine inside any of these prescribed drugs you guys talked about ??
You probably have Lyme disease go to a tick born disease specialist never a infectiouse Disease Doctor for Lyme this is the Same thing I have
I had these shocks at one point and my doctor told me it was a symptom of withdrawal after stopping my meds, and gave me a substitute that helped get rid of it. I don't know if this helped you but I hope it does because I know the feeling. Litteraly.
Hi, have you been able to diagnose your Shocking Situation. Seriously, i've been having this feeling for about 7 months, i've gone to 3 cardiologist and they havent found NOTHING. I continue, to fight the feeling when it comes but yet sometimes it over powers my will.
Ok many this will help....MYOCLONUS JERKS, look it up should like what we are all taking about   Also stay away from to much wifi , get a raytac detector, and do grounding work outs all of this is from a person that take no meds.
Reading these comments completely summarizes what I've been experiencing the past week or so since I've stopped taking Paxil.  Coupled with graveyard work schedule and stress, these sensations are almost completely debilitating.  I've starting titrating onot Lamictal to help with depression and I'm hoping this will stop the buzzing sensations I've been experiencing.   I'm glad I'm not alone!
I have Exactly" the same symptoms. I'm thinking pinched nerves somewhere along the spine? Help!
Wow. I just woke up and typed on my computer..."why do I feel these shocks thru my body. Its not constant but it happens about every 5 minutes. Its a nervous system disorder. Probably fibromyalgia. BUT I also just detoxed my body at a rehab center because of all the meds I was on. Horrible stuff. Just like you. And now I started the Gabapentin like you. I don't like the way it makes me feel either. I am going to stop it all together so I can pinpoint the issue. But i'm pretty sure you have fibromyalgia. or some sort of nervous disorder. Get your blood tests done and get a copy of them. come home and research all of the results yourself. God Bless. I pray we both have Nothing wrong. AT all!
I get the same thing and I'm not on any medication I have diabetes and every time I feel sock I get these shocks through my body
